Just proves there is no one right way to eat a ration and they should be eaten like the individual person wants to prepare it. If you get another one of these Indonesian rations try the Minkal with cold water....Yum! Nice job RC!

Great review, and a great ration also. Don't know if you're interested, but those mystery codes on the packaging are: ISO 9001, the international quality standard that the company is certified to. HACCP: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point, a risk management prpgram for food and beverages. So the company is pretty tooled up with food quality assurance.
The last meal "Nasi Uduk Ayam" suppose to be not soupy. It's should has the consistency like the "Nasi Kari Daging". It's very tasty rice dish. One of my favourite dish. I usually have it for breakfast or suppers. It's just like Malaysian Nasi Lemak. You should try the original dish sometimes.
I agree 110%. I'm subscribed to a handful of people who do reviews but I've come across a handful of them I can't stand, and some that are just plain boring or have a boring voice. I've watched some of Gusto's older videos when he was first starting and his voice seemed...awkward? Like he was really nervous or something. But he's improved greatly and now it's like he's been doing it for years. I look forward to videos from Gusto and Steve the most.

Now I remember why I haven't reviewed mine yet. I've been putting it off for 2 months or longer now because it's just so much food and cleanup. I can't wait til I'm a little more mobile to do the big 24hr rations.
Looks absolutely amazing. It's very different from most European and US rations, but still tempting without being too cheap and boring (like the Chinese or Japanese that look awfully simple, though I haven't tried them). Definitely on my want-list!

(I know I'm late, craving some Gusto and I didn't see any new videos so I went to some older ones I don't think I've seen.
I really like their quick view windows on the back of retort packages! Also wish US MREs contained foldable spoons and forks. That is clever as well as being very utilitarian. Finally, I applaud then for not packing up about half the space with crackers.

Jenny Wakeman probably my most frequent comment. I usually eat most of what I review. Just not on camera. The 24hr rations generally take all day to review--I do them in sessions near mealtimes and this is usually my food for the day. I generally don't finish the older rations (for safety reasons) or things I just don't like. In general, I do not waste food.
Indonesian : no rice no eat BTW, nasi uduk is steamed rice with coconut milk and spices. Last, nasi uduk are not gravy just regular rice with a savory coconut milk and spice flavor. Enjoy your Indonesian dishes broh.. 🤟❤️

Thank You RC for another informative review. Only a one year shelf life for a freeze dried? Maybe because of the sauce packet? I really would like to try this ration. But as a diabetic I don't think it would be a good idea.
Jon Pulicicchio actually the instant rice isn't too bad, speaking from a glycemic index standpoint. But it is a massive amount of food altogether. The drinks are another matter. The berry drink and the vitamin beverage were very high in sugar.

I am heavy on Russian IRP's since most of their entrees are heavy on protein. One IRP could last me two days as well. Again thanks for the review and the information.

fyi They don't need any chocolate candy to boost moral. in fact we Indonesian doesn't eat chocolate candy so often, it just not our habits. what we need to keep moral is good rice dishes, and spicy stuff. Asian people is addicted to rice. I will go crazy if I don't eat rice for a day :p
Muchamad Hindarto every culture has treats. and that's what makes it a treat is you don't eat it very often. still some on the go instant sugar energy is warranted in any culture or diet. especially beneficial for a soldier.

Here in Indonesia people have the phrase "Belum kenyang kalo belum makan nasi" meaning you're not full if you haven't eat rice. Although the young folks don't really follow it anymore. That minsus drink is probably Susu Jahe or Ginger Milk

The sauce should be mixed with the rice before rehidrated so the flavors absorbs by the rice. :)
