- How to edit photos like a PRO in under 12 minutes! This is how you batch edit in Affinity Photo!
I hope this helps simplify and speed up the photo editing process and it works for even beginner photographers!
[I used a Canon Rebel SL2 with a Sigma 18-35mm Art lens 1.8f with a 1/4 Pro Mist Filter]

How do you edit your photos? Any tips or recommendations?
I also use Affinity Photo, won't be sucked into MS/Adobe payment. I shoot mostly wildlife and landscape so using the raw editor isn't artuous and then to the development mod. I like to start with 'levels' then move on down with other layers as needed. Just starting to learn using the gradient tool and masks. So much to learn.
Yeah definitely! I don't like the monopoly Adobe has over other tools that work just as good if not better than their tools. I use Affinity for photos and graphic art and divinci resolve for video editing, it just made my life so much easier! Yeah I haven't tried using levels, need to give that way of processing a try. I feel like for me curves give me the most gradual and even control over exposure, but I do tend to like contrasty images, so to each their own. But I need to try it out regardless! Thanks for the info on your process!!!

you can apply batch editing also in raw. I read a post and it was brilliant. Basically: (1) open a raw file and make all your editing in the develop persona - (2) Click on develop and without doing anything else start a macro in the Photo persona - (3) Double click on the layer which will send you back to the develop persona - (4) Without do any more editing click again on develop to go back to Photo persona - (5) and final stop the macro and save it. And you are done, select raw files for the batch process and apply the macro. It sounds complicated but it is not and it works brilliantly. Cheers
After I hit develop persona and start the macro it says this "Please end your macro recording session before using Develop."

Hi sorry I'm just following what you posted so I'm a bit confused with the first two instructions you wrote (1) open the raw file, edit in develop persona. (2) then click on develop and start a macro ? @@ndon85
When I double click on the layer nothing happens...
From Carl 123 in the Affinity Forum (follow steps 3 and 6 especially ... then it works):
BATCH PROCESSING OF RAW FILES IN AFFINITY PHOTO
STEP 1: Capture RAW settings in a Macro
1. Open a RAW file
2. Make your adjustments
3. Select Embedded or Linked in the context Toolbar (NOT Pixel)
4. Develop image
5. Start Macro recording
6. Double click thumbnail of Layer (in Layers panel) to re-enter Develop persona
7. Make no changes, just Develop the image (again)
8. Macro panel should show just one entry called Develop
9. Stop Macro recording and save macro to Library studio (call it what you like)
10. Note that there is no need to save this Affinity document if you don’t want to. It is no longer needed.
STEP 2: Batch process additional RAW files with same settings
Start new batch job (File > New Batch Job)
Select the RAW files to process & the output folder to save them in (Suggest you test this first with just, say, 5 to 10 RAW files)
Select the file format to output results to. E.g. JPGs, TIFFs etc - (See note 1 below)
IMPORTANT: Select the macro you saved earlier and click the Apply button (Not the OK button)
Tick or untick parallel processing (See Note: 2 below)
Click OK to start the batch process

Yay! Oh good i was hoping to find anyone feeling like this because this method helped me to not feel stressed out about editing anymore! I used to put off editing until now!
I don't play with curves, I start immediately with levels and gammas. I want my blacks 100% black, and whites 100% white, so I push the levels all the way until the histogram is filled from left to right, without any gaps from the sides. Then some luminance and saturation, and sometimes selective color - and that's it. And now I'm an Affinity user too.
Oh awesome! That's a method I'll have to try, i usually start with curves but I'll need to try using levels and gammas thanks for sharing!

What is the maximum number of images a single batch process will support? Greater than 305?
I haven't found a limit. I've done over 1,000 photos. Just the speed depends on your computer's specs. But yeah no limit!
HI! How can I edit multiple RAW photos with Affinity photo?
At the moment I can only open one at a time, so it is not possible for me to select and process shots.
I'm not a professional so I would like to switch to Affinity to edit the photos, but at the moment I can only do this with Photoshop and Capture One, which cost "an arm and a leg"

So, all the steps to do so should be in this video:
1. Open RAW photo in Affinity
2. Click "develop" top left corner
3. Click the top left tab "macros"
4. Click the red "record" circle to record the edits you're about to make
5. Edit as you please using adjustment layers
6. Click the red recodd button again to stop recording edits
7. Click the gallery button located just a couple of icons to the right of the record button
8. Save edit as whatever name you'd like
9. Click "file" then "batch edit"
10. The batch edit window should pop up, click at the bottom left, and deselect "parallel processing."
11. Click "add" and select which RAW photos you'd like to apply this edit to (it might lag a bit to load photos depending how many you selected, but once the photos appear in the preview list it'll be ready for the next step)
12. Then select what folder you'd like the photo to save to
14. Select save as JPG, PNG, or whatever file type you want them saved as
15. Then select "ok" or "start" at the bottom right on the screen to begin batch edit
16. The photos will begin applying edits automatically, the batch editing window will disappear, and a list of batch editing photos will appear at the left side bar of the application to show the progress of batch edit job.

I would like to open a big number of RAW shots, browse them like in the other softwares, in an single window.

@contemarcula well you can select a photo in the raw photos from the finder window and press the space bar to preview and arrow keys to scroll through the raw photos. If you're talking about being able to view them all like in adobe light room where there is a preview of every photo below then affinity doesn't have that ability
Dude, too much talking, try to keep your videos straight to the point. I did not finish the video as I got bored even before you started "showing" your tutorial.

Fair enough. To each their own!
Considering the video was about batch processing and not editing style, this is a poor comment and comparison. LR is leased software and much more expensive.
