    Amazing! Thank you!
    Please do more Affinity tutorials. I’ve been on Affinity for the last few years after being with Photoshop since version 1.2. The only thing I miss are all of the really good high end tutorial artists. I subscribed just due to this video.

    I JUST so happened to jump online the same day they were releasing Affinity... bought all three of them suckers, If I didn't have the old version of LR, I'd I'd release that sucker. I use Affinity but I'm finding it destructive to my photos especially on export(unless I'm bringing it into the project incorrectly) But other than that, it's a bad ass app hands down and anyone not switching over just loves burning money

    I wish someone would do a real world example of skin retouching on older people (40's - 70's) and how to reduce wrinkles without it looking unnatural. Retouching on a 20 YO model with no wrinkles is not the same!

    Do you have any other videos on Affinity Photo? I did a search and didn’t see any more on you channel. Any chance you’ll be making more videos using this program for general photo editing? I’m currently using it on my iPad but definitely could use some help with going a bit deeper in to edits. Just recently found your channel and like the detail and explanations you give versus other just going too quickly without explaining the “why” behind it all.

I know in Photoshop there is tools like that but I’m not sure if in this one I am able to do that, I work with a very picky customer that wanted to be perfect and some pictures and some time they gave me extra work to work in Photoshop 😆

    Great video! I appreciate your subtle approach to skin retouching. Too often videos make the skin look plastic but yours maintain a very natural but polished look. What phrase am I looking for . . . oh yeah, “High End!”
    I do have one question, however, why do you add a new mask to the adjustment layers? Each AP adjustment layer already has a mask built into it by default. It seems to be an unnecessary step. Or, am I missing something?
    Thanks, keep the Affinity videos coming!

    • @MarkMcGeePhotos
      @MarkMcGeePhotos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Tom
      Thanks for the nice comments. Yeah good question. I guess the simple answer is visual workflow. I like to see the mask separately and be able to turn off the mask to see the dodge/burn changes I've made from the initial Adjustment layer. Too used to Photoshop probably. Cheer mate

    Just found your channel, thanks for the great tips, I have never used the B+W layer over the frequency separation before to see the tonal changes better so every day is a school day! Can I ask please why you add a mask to your adjustment layers, eg when you added a curve layer instead of just hitting Cmd+I to invert the layer then paint it in where you wanted it, you added a separate mask then inverted that to paint in. Is there an advantage in adding that separate mask rather than just using the inbuilt mask in each adjustment tool? Subscribed.

    • @assoumanim
      @assoumanim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's a macro in ap, same as an action ps. You must go to view, studio and select macro if you don't see it right away.
      Then you start to record and do your thing, like making a group for dodge and burn for exemple. You stop the macro, save it and it's done, it will appear in the library.

    Frequency separation for skin isnt high end retouching. Need to rename the tutorial. Don’t spread misinformation.

    • @assoumanim
      @assoumanim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dépends on how you use it. There is no smooth skin process here, look the texture, it’s 100% accurate.

    • @000CloudStrife
      @000CloudStrife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@assoumanim the way he used it is wrong. If you want all parts of the skin you need low high and mid frequency to get all the skin. Micro dodge and burn with global dodge and burn. He claims it’s high end but it isn’t. Please Learn what high end is before you speak. In a group with masters who truly do high end this picture would get torn apart. Natalia Taffarel explains clearly for free how to do real high end skin retouching.so 100% wrong

    • @000CloudStrife
      @000CloudStrife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Furthermore this isn’t separated by light texture and color.

    • @000CloudStrife
      @000CloudStrife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@assoumanim let’s not forget color problems all over the skin. Uneven tones. Not high end retouching at all. This has to renamed. So misleading. This is also why he didn’t reply. Because all I’ve said is true.
