I saw this video a couple weeks ago but needed to come back to it to tell you how much this boosted my editing skills. I’ve been doing similar edits to pictures of cats, dogs, and birds. Great video.
I have edited photos in a similar style and loved the effect of giving the shadows a colorcast into the blue/green. It looks like black and white with more punch.
Wow! You are a real Lightroom magician! I only do minor edits using this program, but I will follow your example and start experimenting more with masks. Thanks a lot for the very useful tips! By the way, very cute kitty. I have 2 cats at home and one of them is quite similar to yours :) Greetings!
Wieder mal genial Christian :) Kann ich für meine Dog-Shootings sehr gut übernehmen! 8:09 bei mir auch sehr oft! "H" sollte helfen. Shift+H dann nur für die gewählte Maske.
Awesome video. Explained a lot. I just need more instruction on the sharpening. You went over it rather too quickly for me. How did you isolate the cat (subject) to sharpen.
Thanks again Christian! It’s great to see what is possible in LR!! 😀👍 What about the result, for me the car is a bit to bright to it’s environment. But I understand, it’s just a matter of personal taste 😉
Just a last touch. Make a subject mask then intersect with a linear mask so that only the left bottom side is masked. Then you can play around with light and contrast to decrease the tonality’s to add a sense of depth and tone separation, as the cat is looking a little bit flat
Thanks a lot! I would probably try to brighten up the background to seperate the cat from the background if its got darker fur, or you could try adding some "backlight" but that would be tricky to do in lightroom
Thank you ! I wonder why you made basic adjustements on the whole image ?? Thare are only 2 "subjects" here: the cat and the background. So, manipulaire one part, then the other, no? Moreover, a good idea would be to show us a 100% image when you work on sharpening/color grading the cat or it's eyes. MfG
Thanks for the comment! I always do some basic level of adjustments globally to prepare the image for masking in the next step BUT thats just what I prefer to do. You could totally just only use masks and get the same results! Its just about what you like more :-)
Christian, What a lovely cat! So sweet! I love it! Great thanks to you for your wonderful presentation focusing on masking of Background, subject and objects. Your inspiration is very helpful to me. P. S. 1. Is it your cat? P.S. 2. I can download these five photos for October project from today’s link, it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
@@ThePhlogPhotography Yeah man :) Not necessarily big packs of presets, but maybe a cpl of presets for a symbolic price. I dont know - Im just thinking out loud here :)
My lightroom would freeze and lag a lot with this amount of masking. I have a beefy Windows machine I reckon. I wonder if it has to do with just editing one picture on a single catalog.
Just realised, this LrC is the newest version. That's why got selection to edit backgrounds without touching the cat. I'm using the old version. No wonder cannot made it easy 😂
it was fine before masking if you care about natural look. later on it become a sticker, also don't you think eyes in result are too bright? they were one of the darkest part of the cat.
I see these things so often when I scroll insta. So much details go lost when u do this.. The cat lost almost all the pretty details of there whiskers...
thats unfair, you clearly made dark tones a bit gray when you show the final image at the end of the video. Something you did not do through the tutorial. I already have some experience and my eyes are pretty formed. But for a beginner it will possibly leave some question marks. At least you could specify this aspect.
even the circular light effect is softer. Now Im curious. Is it light that after saving the photo from LR? Or you really made the change i mentioned above? Dont take it as hating, I just specify for the ones that are looking through comment section
Thats simply because I always edit the image two times for a video: 1. I need to find the right look / settings for an image and once I found it I write the adjustments I did down to then (2.) start recording the video with a "fresh" iamge (this makes the video more "flowing"). Now what this causes is I dont place masks at the EXACT SAME positions as in the previous edit and thus the final image might look slightly different

12 minutes of easy editing but you literally transformed the photo. Definitely going to follow your channel. Thank you!

Thank you so much, that means a lot to me!
i learned more in this video in a matter of time than anywhere else.
straight to the point, you got a subscriber
simple and great!
Im a simple man. I see cat, I press like.
Thanks for the comment! The point color tool is great, to be honest I'm just too lazy to use it, but it would probably be better for quality!
I’m a simple man , I see a man seeing a cat and pressing like, I like his comment
Fantastic job! I love how you invented a light source and the lovely charcoal-like color grading on the rocks.
Tack!
Thank you so much for all the support!
I just learnt so much about light room in one video. Thank you
Stunning result! Please make more subject-based videos like this one :)
Thanks a lot! I'll try to get some more pretty pictures with subjects like this :-)
@@ThePhlogPhotography can yoou do human object? thankyou
Very nice stylization, Christian. Thanks.
Wow! What a fabulous image!
one of the best edits i have come across in last few days. Kudos
Thanks so much!
Outstanding Result. Thanks for posting.
Thanks a lot!
Очень крутой результат👍

Amazing!!! Thank You Dude! 🤩

Another great tutorial. Thanks. I learn something new every time.

Thank you so much! I have a separate video on sharpening, you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/hL9O7OhoIkg/w-d-xo.html

What about the result, for me the car is a bit to bright to it’s environment. But I understand, it’s just a matter of personal taste 😉
Great result, but are we able to apply this edited with lightroom for smartphones? I find it little bit difficult to apply, thanks
Thanks for the comment! Not sure how Lightroom works on mobile, but if you are able to use masks there, you should be able to recreate this look!
Just a last touch. Make a subject mask then intersect with a linear mask so that only the left bottom side is masked. Then you can play around with light and contrast to decrease the tonality’s to add a sense of depth and tone separation, as the cat is looking a little bit flat
Great work ! If it’s a darker colour cat without the white fur, what will be your recommendation to enhance the image ? appreciate the advice
Thanks a lot! I would probably try to brighten up the background to seperate the cat from the background if its got darker fur, or you could try adding some "backlight" but that would be tricky to do in lightroom
Excellent! More tutorials with animals
Thanks a lot! More will be coming :-)
just wow

I would have added in some masks to add some shadows in the cat and make it also have some depth
However, learnt a lot. Really interesting edit

Thank you very much for the kind words! Unfortunately, this is not my cat but, we encountered him on the way down from a mountain in switzerland! :-)
You should save the preset and let us buy it for 1 $.
Think you would be surprised how many of us would give it a try :)
Finished photo looks amazing
I dont know, never worked much with presets, maybe I will do something in the future for members of the channel or something :-)
@@ThePhlogPhotography Yeah man :) Not necessarily big packs of presets, but maybe a cpl of presets for a symbolic price. I dont know - Im just thinking out loud here :)

I didn't know Lightroom could do such magic
Just realised, this LrC is the newest version. That's why got selection to edit backgrounds without touching the cat. I'm using the old version. No wonder cannot made it easy 😂
How you reduce the noise in the bg?
❤
Nice job, however you did not change the stones that you selected with the cat. it was to bright for my taste
What is the lightroom version you are using? Mine is an older version and does not have tgese masking tools.
Oh, I'm using the newest version. I think the older versions are lacking those ai masks for things like subject and background right?
Funnnn
Thanks but at least you can zoom in for clear visibility
Great but I feel like the cat should have more color more orange
👍👍👍😀
Karl Möhrle am Schlagzeug.
Tbh the cat look cut off, i mean the lighting on cat looks like that if it’s been paste there. But anyways nice tutoriay❤
I cant find "Adobe Standard" under Profile
Thats strange.. Can you find it when c licking on "browse" then expand the adobe profiles? It should be there
Photoshop oder Lightroom welches ist besser?

Can u do the same in a portrait on a girl please
Shutter Speed ( 1/50sec ) For Animals ?
are you okay
Looks good but it looks like an AI image after that radial glow in the end.
I see these things so often when I scroll insta. So much details go lost when u do this.. The cat lost almost all the pretty details of there whiskers...
Master in using masks !

Nope, artifact result
It’s very pretty, but it looks fake and unnatural. Almost AI territory
Broo light room mobile tutorial plese
Great
