    I remember putting a plane down flat on the bench like you did (twice) and my teacher rapping my knuckles for doing it! 😆
    Builds going really nice 👌 👏

      There are plenty of people out there that will tell you putting a plane on its side will/can change the lateral adjustment, so you should always put them on their sole.. I personaly don't think it matters, just don't put the plane down on top of stuff (parts, screws, etc) that could damage it. A wooden bench isn;t going to harm the steel cutting edge, though.

    It is great to have your videos again. One of the great finds of the pandemic and a permanent fixture in my favorites.
    I agree. I would have finished the neck work before glue up of the body.

    Dude! Where are your videos? I waited months to see your next build and you only have 2. Are you ok? I'm rooting for you. You were my fave last year. Your LP was top notch. True quality!

      I'm working on them! I have the next one uploading as I type this! I have a lot less time on my hands this year, so editing is taking forever!
      I'm glad to see people are looking forward to seeing my videos though, it really means so much!

    Could come in handy for disciplining the singer 🙊

    For my last build, I glued on the wings before shaping the neck, and found it a little tricky. So this time around, I had the neck all done (well, except for the inlays and frets) before glueing on the wings. I guess there are pluses and minuses either way?

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hindsight is great, and I've come to the same conclusion that I should have gotten the neck done as much as possibe before gluing the wings on! Oh well, every day's a school day!

    Is there a specific reason for using 5 guide pins in the fretboard? I normally only use 2...

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I usually use 4, just for paranoia's sake, but on this one I wasn't too happy with 2 of them, they were a little close to the truss rod, so I drilled the 5th to be on the safe side.
      For the sake of an extra toothpick, I rather the extra pins.

      @@AwenLutherieCustomGuitars fair enough! Follow up question: How annoying is it to post a build video from Crimson HQ, then having people comment with "That's not how Ben does it"? 😂

  • @johndube1731
    @johndube1731 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work. I noticed that you cut the body part a little more shallow. Is that to give it an angle back? You did it but didn't explain why.
    (or maybe I missed it) :)

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes so it's to give the break angle, but also it's lower to allow for a top that is going on.
