    That is a good way to position the bridge, by intonation. I once found the right place in the third attempt, so there was plenty of "additional sound holes" in the body of that guitar... Yep, after that I started to use this intonation method.

    • @4thAvenueGuitars
      @4thAvenueGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. We’ve all done it. It’s probably the hardest measurement on a guitar to get right. Scale length plus compensation factoring in the bridge type, even string gauge and tuning can move it out of place.

  • @timhallas4275
    @timhallas4275 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    First of all, your 335 is looking absolutely brilliant. and... I've started my "Explorer-ish" project and, thanks to you, it has hammered copper scratch plates (2 pieces) running up and down the entire rt side. I got to play with fire!! It's looking promising. I'm probably going to cover the P-90 pickups in hammered copper as well. I'm really enjoying this build. Not even in a hurry to finish it.

    • @4thAvenueGuitars
      @4thAvenueGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. That sounds like it will be a cool guitar. Just be careful covering pickups with metal. It will always have an effect on the sound. Eg, aluminium pickup covers will absorb a lot of the top end.

  • @justthetruth870
    @justthetruth870 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What a sweet looking instrument. Great job. Being a left handed player I have noticed that every guitar in this years GGBO is right handed. As such we are totally excluded from the auction, I know only too well that we are a silent minority but the truth is I'm sick of being "silent". I would like to put it out there that in future GGBOs that just a couple of the builder's take a chance and produce a "leftie". We are out there and I think you should talk it over with the future entrants to see what can be achieved. I'm making this request on only a few of the other entrants videos. Good luck with the auction. Cheers Mark.

    • @4thAvenueGuitars
      @4thAvenueGuitars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lefty is something I’ve seriously considered building, the problem is that as a custom one off guitar a lot of people want something very specific. The market for right handed is much bigger and so means it’s more likely to find its perfect home. That being said, I agree that lefties seem to get penalised by simply being a minority market. I promise to build a lefty at some point. But I will need to be in a position where I can hold on to it until the right person comes along.

    A great way to get pots in a 335 , take 12" of auto gas line tubing or surgical tube ing ,place over the shaft of the pot then take a piece of wire coat hanger or any stiff solid core wire place inside the tubing bend to shape with a small 90 degree bend at the end to grab the hole .And Bob's your uncle pull the tube through the hole and place the nut on.
