I for one tend to build as little as possible whenever I play sandbox survival games, and even in my most recent world I didn't see a reason to really build a base until the winter cold gave me one. I'd be careful with accounting for crop temperatures. You're on the last day of August at the end of the video, and snow can fall at basically any moment during autumn, and going below -5C makes honey and berry timers reset, and it completely halts any crop and sapling growth. Consider the surprising first snowfall to mean you aren't getting any more of those resources until next May. I've given up bothering to grow low heat tolerance crops like rye and turnips because growing them in the spring and summer is only slightly easier than growing *anything* in the winter, but I'll be impressed if you can find a good place for them to grow without temperature stunting.
id aim for automation over gambeson in first year and make iron chain instead of gambeson. Also i like to use 6 barrels for my leather making 2 limewater 2 weak tannin 2 strong and a spare barrel to help refill used up lime/tannins
can use the honey comb on buckets as well and then store them in barrels.. 50L per barrel.. 10L per bucket. (of course 2 minutes after I type this you explain you can use barrels.. lol)
Will the bees in the woods make it through the winter with no flowers nearby? I don't remember if hives just go dormant or if they can die off. I found my hives after my first winter and had to stop playing before the next one.
I found out the other day if you have a straw dummy near by the angry bees will attack that instead of you. Super handy.

Yeah I may end up not going with turnips/rye if the new location doesn't work out with the temps.

Yes it is! I was really lucky to get a big vein of coal nearby so it made the process a bit less painful.
plant trees around the rice field and one in the middle, that will take care of the temperature

I'm pretty sure wild bees do not de-spawn but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes you definitely can, I just don't like the black border on the glass slab windows. The panes look so much nicer!
