    Really useful tip: you can hover over any item in your inventory (or bar, with your inventory open) and press H to immediately see what you can make involving it. Similarly, if you sneak/crouch and press H, whatever block you're looking at will be opened in the guide.

    Best game ever!! Let’s goooo! (also the StepUp mod lets you step up one whole block so you don’t have to jump all the time)

    Highly recommend the quality of life mod that auto marks on the map for you just by crouching next to what you are looking at. So useful since this game exploration is a constant. I also recommend to mark the spots where you harvest plants too. They can naturally respawn there. :D

    I generated a world with completely default settings and so far I have been living on berries: I have found four (count them) rye plants (or they might have been spelt) which I am leaving to mature. On the bright side the wolves seem ridiculously benign and the only drifter encountered so far wandered into my camp, looked around, and wandered out again: he seemed bewildered that I was chasing him and poking him with a knife, but I did get my only flax from him!

    Not sure what your mod list is but the carry on mod is a huge help, and the better ruins mod speaks for itself. Also now is a great time to check caves before drifters start spawns my down there. Find those ruins while you can because caves will become out of reach for a while.

    Minor tip with your land--bridge attempt - if you hold sneak then you can walk just a bit beyond the very edge allowing you to look back to place another adjacent block under your feet.

    YES!!! This is my hands-down, 100% favorite game of all time. I went into it having played basically no Minecraft, and it got hooks into me... bad. Over a year and a half, I played well over a thousand hours.

    I LOVE VINTAGE STORY! Thank you so much! I hope you love it. The subreddit is full of smart helpful people if you have questions. I strongly recommend the Prospect Together mod just to help with marking ore finds, which is one of the more complex parts of the game.

    It is indeed pitch black at night, by design, so you will definitely want to make sure you sort out a light source before dark. However, you can just place a torch on the ground or on a wall and light it with a firestarter; you don't need to build a fire pit until you have something to cook.
    PS: you can stack firewood on the ground to save inventory space. Many other items can be placed on the ground as well.

    When first played Vintage Story, I started with standard experience as recommended. I didn't know a shit about temporal stability or rifts or drifters. Build my first base into ever so slightly temporally unstable area and it drained my sanity very slowly until suddenly everything went completely wonky. It freaked me out, because I had no idea what the everloving eff was going on, and the glitching and waviness made me very nausauted. It game me literal migrane and severe motion sickness. I couldn't log back in that world without feeling sick, so I deleted that world *sad tuba noises* I didn't create another world for quite a while, because my friend invited me to play with him in his world on multiplayer. I did eventually make another world for myself, now much better educated.

    This game looks like the TerraFirmaCraft mod for Minecraft turned into it's own thing. I love that mod, and this game is made with it's own engine which gives the devs much more freedom for systems development. Promising stuff.

    I love VS, glad you're enjoying it. :)
    I think that by setting the global climate to semi-arid, you might have made things a bit harder on yourself; local variation in rainfall affects the distribution of soil fertility, as well as certain resources like clay, and spawning of different plants and animals depends on rainfall as well. So you may have more trouble finding certain things compared to a default climate.
    To simplify keeping track of ore deposits, traders, etc I recommend the Auto Map Markers mod; it can be configured to automatically add a marker whenever you talk to a trader or pick up ore nuggets, berries, resin, etc.

    • @GrindThisGame
      @GrindThisGame  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I guess we'll find out. I figured it would just change the climate and not the worldgen. ooops! Auto Map mod seemed to be only for 1.20 which I don't have (yet).

    Lots of potential with this game. Mods can make life a little easier. There are many that are just QLI mods. That way the game doesn't get to cheaty. The QLI mods just improve the game and ease some of the difficulty you may have in the early game, help with certain things in mid game and awesome gear you can acquire in the late game. Many of them are resource dependent. So, if you can't find that resource than you will have to acquire it before you can craft it. That is how many mods are created. They just add things that help. Not too many that are cheaty. Unless that is the mods you want, and they are some of them as well.

    I'm a big fan of Vintage Story and unfortunately had to stop the video at the beginning where the changed settings were shown.
    When you start a new game and something is difficult, you might also get the idea that you don't understand the mechanics!
    Tin for example, yes it can be a little more difficult, but:
    1. You don't need tin, there are other types of bronze too
    2. You only need small amounts of tin (if it absolutely has to be tin) and you can buy it from traiders.
    I could now write pages about the other changed settings, but i think its enoughto say: It takes a lot of the challenge and fun away from the game. Too bad!

    • @GrindThisGame
      @GrindThisGame  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think I will enjoy the experience more actually but everyone has their preferences. My time is also limited. I'm able to read so I understand there are 3 ways to make bronze :P I can also read the ratios. I can always do another playthrough in the future with "harder" settings. Harder in survival games is often just more time consuming vs. actual skill based.
