    The one upgrade I really want in VS is a Langstroth hive, or other frame-based hive design that doesn't have to be destroyed like a Skep.

      true, the bees in VS have made me want more to "bees progression" I might look into modding in expanded apiaries.

    personally I usually leave wild colonies wherever I find them, so if I mess up and lose all my populated skeps, or if my hives get gotten into by raccoons, I still have the wild hive there to get them from

    worth noting that honey never spoils so maybe not use it for mead (as that can spoil) , i keep some as emergency food , not to say you can make jams with fruits , traders often sell bowls of honey for cheap , usualy 4 bowls for 1 gear(4liters of honey and bowls for free) , one of very few items who is cheap but otherwise hard to get.

      if you want alcochol berries/fruit and press is way to go , that will also leave dry leftovers who can be fed to animals:) sealing juice makes fruit wine.

    I came for the cellar lol. I had a hunch that this game had a cellar mechanic. Or at least a mechanic for food storage under ground. So i put some spoiling meat meal in a crock, then in a jar and dug a small hole and buried it in there 😂
    I now see why that was wrong lol

    These tutorials are really great, but I had some questions if you could share some insight
    1) How do you zoom in like you did at 1:10?
    2) When I last played (about 3 weeks ago) I heavily struggled to find enough copper to progress and ended up abandoning the save and losing interest, because it felt insanely difficult to find any. On top of that, the monsters are a huuuuge pain and I couldn't find a way to deal with any of that, so maybe advice there as well would be useful?
    That's all I can think of though, I thought I had at least 3, but I either forgot the last one or just didn't have one. But that second one is very important; Early setup is a struggle for me

    • @EldritchHeart
      @EldritchHeart ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually had another occur once you showed your cellar; How do you get the crystals down there? I never went caving when I played because, as I mentioned, I couldn't find *any* metal to progress with so I was sorta stuck.
      (Shame there's no option in game to make metal a little more common, cuz it really feels like the only way to get it is pan and pray)

    • @VarenvelDarakus
      @VarenvelDarakus ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When you find copper stones on surface it means there is copper below it(usually 1-5 blocks below dirt) ,paning bones also can yeld copper arrows or spearheads , so if you find copper stones make map marker , they are easiest to see on rocksands z seam to generate more often there too , so when you make first pick you can mine it

    • @Lucian4694
      @Lucian4694 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@EldritchHeart you can make surface copper and tin more common (or more rare, if you want) in the world generation settings, as well as increase the chances for all ore veins in general i believe

    • @MischiefofMice
      @MischiefofMice  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That zoom is actually a client side mod that I had added but you can reproduce it to a point with game commands added to a macro.
      As for copper, you can change the settings for that if you want. This video is part of a playlist and the first couple episodes (specifically the first one) should help. Panning is a great alternative, especially if you find some ruins with bony soil to get you started. I'll be covering getting into metals soon.

    • @MischiefofMice
      @MischiefofMice  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To combat the early game mobs, sleeping on a hay bed can help a lot. It speeds up the night where they can spawn the easiest in since they need some darker areas to spawn from their rifts. Spamming torches in your house can be a good temporary measure to avoid them spawning inside your walls too. Early armor and a crude shield can really save you from most of the damage they do as well, again, in some of the early vids in this playlist.

    This series has been a great help! I built my cellar above ground with packed dirt all around and a bendy hallway (it was built before I could make a solid door), a full box with all corners and edges covered. Would doubling up on the walls make it even more efficient?

    From this vid it would appear that extracting bees with a nade also destroyed the honey inside. Which is unfortunate, otherwise the bee nade would have been a good way to safely extract the honey without risking angry bees. Especially since it didnt destroy the Skep.

      @MineSlimeTV 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! I went to look at this exact question myself, and got exited seeing such recent comment.
      But to answer your question: No, it either has to be less or big levy 7x7. I assume mods or other methods would fix it. If mot, that means you’d have various cellars for different food, which might make it more organised and cozier!
