This is amazing game. I'm glad that more people are taking interest in it. You should keep an eye out on odd, round indentations on ground that seems to be out of place. Especially if you find suevite stones around it. That's a meteoric iron deposit. You can sometimes also find pieces of meteoric iron around the location. You need really good pickaxe to mine it, iron one I think. Not all round spots have visible marks of a meteor so you need to dig into it to see if there is metal in there. Jonas parts are something of an end game thing, so that's not something to concerned about.
When I found my first meteoric iron deposit, I actually found a giant dark ruin which had a giant hole bored through its walls towards a suevite crater. It looked so fantastic, and I climbed the ruins to find lore about someone toying around with the situation. It was really fantastic finding all that. I don't know if it was a mod or vanilla, but I loved finding such a cool ruin and a useful pretty metal.
This was a great watch. Your commentary is informative and engaging, and we do need more people covering vintage story. Also, that iron ore find is so lucky it's genuinely ridiculous lol If I may give you advice, you can click and drag a stack of items over a series of slots to divide the items among them, which can speed up crafting items such as the hand baskets. Right clicking can split them in half, and right-click dragging after picking them up will place a single item wherever you drag, which is handy for sorting out high volume items later on, like stones.
Thank you for watching! I love this game and definitely want to do more with it. And yeah the iron ore was amazing haha. Thank you for the tip! That will definitely be useful.
Very nice start! One quick tip - you can always hover over something in your inventory and hit "h" to bring up the specific guidebook entry for that item. Useful anytime you come across something that you're not sure what to do with. And since those raw hides will rot, you might consider using some of your fat to turn them into pelts, which you can use to make hunter's backpacks, which will increase your inventory space a bit - always a struggle in early game!
Oh that is nice to know, thank you! I definitely want to oil some hides to get some fur clothes ready for winter, and those hunter backpacks sound tempting as well.
i reaaaaally appreciate your how to style in this my dude. as an old player it was relaxing to watch and be like... good to see someone who gets the game
Thanks so much! Glad to hear you enjoyed it as an experienced player, I'm still fairly new to the game but definitely put in some hours to learn the progression loop before recording.
I've just gotten the game after watching very few videos on it. It's right up my alley, I play minecraft, and I have played the terrafirmacraft mod in the past and loved it. Since this game is heavily inspired by both those games/mods, but it's much better, I am very much enjoying it so far. I did have trouble finding enough copper nuggets on the ground for a while, I did find a trader where I bought some copper (and some lime because my hides will soon rot and I have not found limestone yet) which I could do because I found 4 rusty gears. But then I heard you say you can pan for copper, so I got a stack of gravel, and after panning through only 20 blocks I had enough copper to make my first pickaxe and hammer, which I've just done. Thanks for the tip! Now on to the next step which is digging for more copper so I can make a saw, to make barrels and doors and all the possibilities that come with that! Oh, and I've survived my first temporal storm (I killed one drifter that was in my house, then locked myself in my 3x3 bedroom and luckily nothing spawned in there. Afterwards I ran outside, and far away so they would despawn. I didn't know I couldn't sleep through the storm on my settings, I found out how to change that, so next time I'll probably sleep through it. I only died once so far, to a bear, I tried running away but it was so much faster than me, luckily I was close to spawn because I had seen a copper bit on the ground there before, and I was looking for that. I got revenge on the bear after I got my stuff back though, made a dirt pillar, threw some spears, waited until it walked away, came down, got my spears, repeat, untill it was dead. But now the 3 huge hides will rot soon, so I need to progress so I can do something with them. For now they've been sitting in a vessel in my cellar together with hare hides from 3 hares that were stupid enough to run into a dead end cave for me to easily get them. I;ve been farming all kinds of crops too, found cabbage seeds in a vessel too, and I've made a watering can. I'm very excited about this game!
Thank you for watching! I haven't tried terrafirmacraft but a lot of people say there are a lot of similarities. Sounds like you are having a great adventure so far! There's so much fun to be had in it for sure.
Definitely enjoying this, it's getting me geared up for another dive in myself. It's been a long while since I dusted things off. Also, a fun fact for you! Oil lamps even work underwater, so you can use them to make some pretty lights beneath your lake if you manage a surplus. I usually play with near-endless breath timer because I just like the luxury of it after so many games with inflexible drowning limits, so this is a useful trick for finding and marking out ores down there. Also, the clay jars are way better for storing food underground than the baskets are, if I remember right.
It's great those oil lamps work underwater, definitely a big plus. And I'm definitely planning on using those pots for grain and other food storage. Thanks for watching!
My friends and I have been blindly working and learning our way through this game, and this was a perfect video to learn some new tricks for us to use (and just in time for us to start winter lol). Great video!
Love this game! If I had to leave one tip: Make not of resin-leaking trees and don't cut them down! Player-grown trees never grow with resin logs, and you'll need a lot later on!
afaik you can place water source blocks with clay jug, so you can implement a simple panning bath inside your shelter very early and spend not only evenings but all nights for panning
I tried this, didn't work for me. I could however, use the water to make soup now, so making the jug was useful after all. I read you can only place water sources with a bucket...
This was a great video! I really enjoyed watching you play the game, build, and craft. This game looks really chill ^^ I'd love to see you play more! ^^

I really enjoyed this game for the most part when I played it a couple years back. I really like how they did things where the crafting and processing of materials is a lot more involved than just throwing things in a crafting grid or putting things in a furnace and adding fuel. I also like how there are actual seasons and you have to prepare for winter and can't just farm year round. I stopped enjoying it once I got to a certain state of progression though. It just got too tedious trying to locate specific resources needed for progression that are nearly impossible to find depending on your map seed and/or are only found at mob lairs with crazy powerful mobs you're nowhere near prepared to take on. It's just not fun running around for hours and hours and hours looking for that one thing you need or dying at those creature lairs again and again fruitlessly trying to get that certain thing you need for progression. It feels like the game balance just isn't quite right once you get past a certain point.
That is definitely what had me stuck in my first try. I couldn't find iron or borax anywhere. I'm hoping with a bit more patience I can take things a bit farther this time through. I did turn up the ore density a bit.
I haven’t seen iron ore once and I have one save with 121 hours and another with 30 and the 120 was my original and it was a badddddd first winter. Very jelly of this seed
Hello from Brazil justo got the game and i died way too many times by wolf , bears, fox, falling into a cave, fire, anomaly and a freaking moose scared the heck of me ... I died by fall damage
It's a hard one for sure! I survive mainly by moving really slow and running away haha. The "Malefactor" class also is harder to detect by animals so that is always an option
Just so you know seeds in vintage story doesn't work the same as in the other block game. It will give you the same type of area ie garnet rock under, line stone under but the map won't be the same.
I have not played this one since 2020, might have to give it another run. You said you use the plains and valleys mod and carryon, what are the other QOL mods you are using?
55:54 the stew in the bowl is 174C in temperature... after finishing half the bowl! I sure hope the character blew on it a bit before stuffing it into the mouth! Anyway came across the video at random, clicked on it thinking "ohh minecraft modpack" but turns out to just look like minecraft, and the game play is a lot like "terrafirmacraft" thats for sure. I do quite like that mod so might have to give this game a try one day, I think that means I must watch the rest of "series" and subscribe, that just seems fair 😁
Haha, surprised it doesn't make you take damage. Thank you for watching! This game was made by former minecraft modders I think so there is definitely similarity there. Thanks for subbing, more is to come!
Wonder if they'll change this. The other day I made bronze shears. It's funny that the 1000c ingot hurts to touch, but not the newly forged shears at the same temperature haha.
The game has a starter guide in the journal, I think you press K to access it. It walks you though the copper age. Also, any specific item you search in there like "raw clay bowl" will have a description and links to other sections in the in-game guide explaining how to use them.
Unfortunately there isn't a demo version currently. It may look like minecraft, but it plays like a super detailed survival game so I am really into it.
I'm planning on making more videos for Vintage Story for sure. I don't know how long since there technically isn't an "end" outside of the Archive area I believe.
*stumbles across clay randomly* Me? I've been looking for clay for about 10 days now. Might as well start a new world.. why oh why isn't clay more visible on the map or even remotely more abundaned? Just cannot find it..
Oh man that sounds rough. Clay does appear slightly different in color if you have the color accurate map, it's usually a lighter color looking patch compared to the regular grass.
7:50 How many systems there are. The only bad thing is, the game is hard to get into. It lacks a real good tutorial, and I mean past the flimsy thing you see in game right now.
The guide book is pretty much the main tutorial in this game. It will get you all the way through the copper age, but after that it's a lot of searching through the recipe book to find out what you need next!
@dannyrothko Hmm, ok, thanks. I'll have to work out why it keeps complaining about a prerequisite 🤦🏼♂️ Love the series, btw. Got me back into the game.
I've played it for about 2 days and have grown to greatly disklike it. I make a dirt hut, maybe add a door, and possibly start a pit kiln with either a crucible, anvil, or pot and bowl. The pit kiln never finishes despite being lit for more than 24 hours as the game recommends. I then die to starvation or random animal attacks before even knowing how to make copper. ALL OF THIS JUST TO MINE STONE! WHAT THE HELL, GAME??????
It's definitely a challenging game. The pit kiln is probably getting doused by rain, you need to make sure it is under a shelter so it doesn't get put out. I've died a lot in my first play-through, it's definitely a learning experience!
@ I’ve made sure that it wasn’t raining when I lit the pit kiln, and sorry for the outburst. I was quite angry when I made the comment, as you probably could tell. I went multiple in-game days while checking on the kiln, and it stayed lit for at least one full in-game day and yet the mold didn’t finish. Maybe a bug?

The game has a starter guide in the journal, I think you press K to access it. It walks you though the copper age. Also, any specific item you search in there like "raw clay bowl" will have a description and links to other sections in the in-game guide explaining how to use them.
its an interesting game not a big minecraft fan but i like the dynamics to the game. does this game have a demo? i'll keep an open mind :)
Unfortunately there isn't a demo version currently. It may look like minecraft, but it plays like a super detailed survival game so I am really into it.
Is this gonna be a series or u just trying it out?
I'm planning on making more videos for Vintage Story for sure. I don't know how long since there technically isn't an "end" outside of the Archive area I believe.
*stumbles across clay randomly*
Me? I've been looking for clay for about 10 days now. Might as well start a new world.. why oh why isn't clay more visible on the map or even remotely more abundaned?
Just cannot find it..
Oh man that sounds rough. Clay does appear slightly different in color if you have the color accurate map, it's usually a lighter color looking patch compared to the regular grass.
Can you tell me your seed? That's a really nice water body to build at.
I have my world settings linked in the description, if you want to match it exactly you'll need to have the "plains and valleys" mod as well
21$ is too much
For me it is worth it, but I can see why you would think that. It's a lot of fun though!
A little hmm yeah it seems like it since it’s a movie
This feels like a game from back in the day
It has that old-school minecraft feel for sure. But the game systems are very advanced!
@@dannyrothko I hope they make it for mobile in the future as well
@@dannyrothko You should also make a castle in the future
Runs past surface copper…doesn’t mark it 😢
I find it again later on!
Is the Carry On Mod broken now?
I don't think so, it seems to be working for me
@dannyrothko Hmm, ok, thanks. I'll have to work out why it keeps complaining about a prerequisite 🤦🏼♂️
Love the series, btw. Got me back into the game.

Four what
😆
I always thought this is MC mod 😅
Well, is was a mod, now is a game.
This is made by one of the mods of terrafirmacraft
It definitely has the minecraft graphics, but it is so much more than MC from what I can tell.
It's basically Minecraft but just with Mods
I think the creators of this were originally minecraft modders
@@dannyrothko makes sense
it's not
Its equivalent to what DayZ is to arma. Started out as a mod then became its own thing.
@derrickschneider6052 hmm kind of unless they drop the block feature it's still the same game
1:01:53 there is high fertility soil in right side
Yes, I do end up pinning that on the map to grab later
