The amount of patience and attention to detail to chisel out all of those blocks is insane, and all of that effort turned out amazing! I can't wait to see what you have planned for the windmill in the next 100 days!
Me too, just have to boot up creative again and come up with something first! The chiseling was fun for the most part. That's part of the appeal of a long term project. In my regular 100 days there is no way I am spending that much time on chiseling especially the interior.

Damn, that's a hell of a seed. In my previous world, I had found everything from copper to iron to titanium to gold and silver but I NEVER found bauxite so I never made it into the steel age. And I'd explored at least a thousand blocks out in all directions of my base.
It can be like that for sure. I suggest setting the polar distance equator to 25k instead of 100k during generation. That seems to make a difference in how fast you can see new fauna and strata.
I got vintage story after watching some of your videos, but the land generation was always one of my least favorite parts of the game (it is difficult to find a cool spot to settle down in). I'll have to try this mod. Great vid!
@@Oscillascape I don't know what minihud is as I can't find anything about it. you mentioned grandhog day movie and I like it so much haahuaha, I watched this movie a few days ago and the music of the alarm was so familiar to me I was like: ohhh I get the reference I watched this movie!!!!
Watching g other people play vintage story makes me realize how much I’ve played early game…every time I start a new world I completely skip the copper age and skip straight to a tin bronze pickaxe using surface nodes. I make waypoints at all of the ones I grab so that once I have that pickaxe I can go back and mine the ore to make even more and get falxs, shovels, and axes and stuff like that. I still haven’t reach steel, but in my furthest world I have like 70 iron blooms because I found a MASSIVE iron vein
I know. I mostly meant I wish you could just click on the recipe and it transfers into the crafting grid like in Minecraft. QP is working on a mod that does something similar but it's in early beta now.
Yes it's possible. You can set the distance between poles too at the world's creation. There isn't one pole though, once you reach it, there will be more poles.
I love the house and can't wait to see what you fill it with! I personally appreciate seeing design focused, non hardcore world for once. Are you having more fun this way?
Both have their own appeal. I think I have been focusing on design more already regardless of the settings, but non hardcore is pretty appealing in many ways. I haven't decided what I will be doing more off. But this world is going to get a lot of attention!
Thank you I lost but conaidering its my first and only year of wrestling, I went heavyweight varsity, and my weight went from 230 lbs to 208 lbs at one point. I did really well, took me half of the season to get my first win, but really well. My season ended today, bit for my first season to end with my last match going overtime i think thats really good. I grew alot in my wrestling skills too. First match ever I was pinned in 22 seconds, so to end my last match in overtime that is an insane improvement
@@heinrichtheprotogen1354 That's cool! Winning isn't everything. As long as you feel like you got something out of it and sounds like you have. Keep going!
I don't really like mods that add a lot of new and unbalanced content. But this one is pretty harmless outside of making worlds more visually appealing.
I read all the comments and no one has mentioned that this area is temporally unstable. Do I have to be the bearer of bad news? Although it can't be too bad of a problem, since even with the gear constantly going backwards at home, it never seemed to go down. I loved watching this and look forward to 200 days.
Haha you got me bud. I had to use Stability Chunk Override to solve that issue. It's a mod that lets you lower the instability of the chunk without turning off the mechanic entirely. I didn't mention it because I didn't feel it was that important for my narrative. But I guess if someone actually wants to play the exact same seed, they will have an unpleasant surprise. I think surface stability is a bad mechanic. There is no counter play besides looking for somewhere else to settle. For caves it's fine, but for the surface it's silly. That's why you see the gear turning. It's an artifact of the mod. But yes without it the area is unstable.
I know you want to keep this playthrough mostly vanilla, but if losing everything due to the items despawning is something you're not a fan of, a mod by the name of "Player Corpses" is a good one. It generates a corpse at your death location and stores your items within, not allowing them to despawn.
I am not playing modless in fact I am using a few like Stone Quarry and Plains and Valleys. I am down to add mods to this world over time if they make sense. But corpse despawning is part of the challenge!
@@Oscillascape In that case, you could raise the despawn timer a bit. Now that you have the world already made the command for that is /worldConfig droppedItemsTimer [number] Measured in seconds (default: 600, equivalent to 10 minutes)
@@Runovaris It's ok, 10 minutes makes it interesting and honestly with all the infrastructure I have now. Losing my gear isn't the biggest deal. Maybe once I have rare armour.
you can turn of the storms with /worldconfig temporalStorms [off] and no more storms or /worldconfig temporalRifts [off] so there are no more drifters in your house or out side only underground but then you are on easy mode
I know, but I figured I wanted the dev approved experience. I think they should do more with the storm mechanic, currently it's pretty bare bones and more of an annoyance.
Hey! No there isn't. I even asked Tyron on reddit at some point (the main developer). I just estimated everything by hand which sucked, but that's just what it is at the moment.
@@Jason-k-Jones The chunk where I chose to build had low temporal stability. I had to install a mod that changes stability per chunk basis to fix that. I was set on the location. I didn't show it in the video because I didn't feel it was that pertinent. The mod is in the video's description though.
Picking up shingles one by one? Can't you put and take them in multiples of 5 with ctrl? Also cattails can be harvested with a scythe. If you did it just to be corrected for engagement i can respect that
I figured out the shingle stuff later in the video, where I learned about the 5 shingles per click. Didn't know you can harvest cattails with scythe though, that's cool. Although by the time that's relevant I didn't need to harvest them any more.
You can never have enough cattails since cattails = candles = lanterns. I plant them in rows of three wide, like a farm, and then harvest them with the scythe.
@@borkagrim3925 Good point on the wood, I should have known that it was a thing. As far as cattails, I suppose skeps return a large portion of cattails when destroyed so it's not a super limiting resource. But nonetheless scything them down is a great tip!
Was trying to edit my post on my phone and accidently deleted it. I was able to check the plains and Valleys comments again. It's more landscale cover and less upheavel, I posted this when I was sick and unable to get to my computer to check the settings so went off my hazy memory. Basically landcover scale will give you larger continental areas with inland seas, and keeping upheavel at default or lower will allow lake not to be filled in. I tested this and the only upside of more upheavel is some more dramatic valley areas that are colder.
In my experience iron is not really hard to find. Thing is, it generates massive disks, so even if your pro pick returns low results it can be worth digging. Once you find a disk you will be set for a lot of time.
I like the idea of not going hardcore. Those can be boring to watch because you have to play it safe. Excited for the series!
I never even crafted a single piece of armour the entire time 😋 Probably not a good strategy on hardcore.

@@Dark__Thoughts it's a Minecraft mod that does something similar. Thanks that's good to know. I'll add it to my mod list for sure.
@@Oscillascape Ah. Been years since I played MC and I think at the time they were typically part of those recipe helper mods like NEI, CEI etc.
thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
you mentioned grandhog day movie and I like it so much haahuaha, I watched this movie a few days ago and the music of the alarm was so familiar to me I was like: ohhh I get the reference I watched this movie!!!!
A true classic! Glad you recognized the reference.
@@Oscillascape if I were you I would want for someone get the reference and talk something in the comments! hakhakahuakk
another great video !
@@SirKaat0o Another great comment!
I used to have a tendency to restart a lot as well and play mostly early game, but now that I make videos it gives me motivation to keep going!
looking forward to 200 days :)
Me too, just have to find time between all the craziness that has been happening in my life.
The handbook is accessed with H, that can be searched for recipies, like making tongs.
I know. I mostly meant I wish you could just click on the recipe and it transfers into the crafting grid like in Minecraft. QP is working on a mod that does something similar but it's in early beta now.
If you hit E while blacksmithing it stops the camera from following your head, makes knapping much faster.
I heard about that. I should try it.
This was sick
Thanks! Glad you like it.
Finaly another 100 days ❤!
I know right! I wish they didn't take 150 hours between play and edit, that way I could release them more often. But a lot more slated for this year.
@@Oscillascape its better to have less videos but way better quality than have more videos and less quality ❤️
This was fun! I think I want to play this game
It's great. You won't regret it!
Great vid man!
Thanks. Glad you like it! More to come.
Is it possible to traverse pole to pole? Would be a cool nomad series.
Yes it's possible. You can set the distance between poles too at the world's creation. There isn't one pole though, once you reach it, there will be more poles.
Cant wait for 200!
It will happen sooner or later! Stay tuned:)!
Watching this while at a wrestling tournament
Are you participating? If so good luck 🤞
Thank you
I lost but conaidering its my first and only year of wrestling, I went heavyweight varsity, and my weight went from 230 lbs to 208 lbs at one point.
Keep going!
I use the same sort of philosophy
"If you both come out smiling, then it's only a loss on the books."
I’m not much of a modded but this terrain generation mod looks really cool! Probably gonna try it out next playthrough.
I don't really like mods that add a lot of new and unbalanced content. But this one is pretty harmless outside of making worlds more visually appealing.
this game would be perfect for a civilization video
What's a civilization video?!
@@Oscillascape look up minecraft civilzation simulation
@@thepurplpineapple9495 will do!
i like vintage story so much, but i dont know how it is so unknown
It's gaining traction, still in early access. I think we are on the verge of the game exploding.
Oh hecc, a new one!
It's been out for a while. Where have you been.
@@Oscillascape My life has been chaos.
People in hospitals, kittens losing their mama, gardening, farmwork.
If you're going to do another 100 days on this world; you should rebuild the church ruin
I thought about that. I am 100 %sure I will. It's iconic to me now.
I’m ready for ep. 2!
Coming this spring ♥️
Very Nice stuf. Good work you done. Dumb Up
Dumb up? Never heard this expression.
Now that you have the world already made the command for that is /worldConfig droppedItemsTimer [number]
Measured in seconds (default: 600, equivalent to 10 minutes)
@@Runovaris It's ok, 10 minutes makes it interesting and honestly with all the infrastructure I have now. Losing my gear isn't the biggest deal. Maybe once I have rare armour.
you could turn the old church into an animal barn. you're gonna start taming them soonish i'm sure. it'd be a good use for it.
That's a good idea! That or a greenhouse as someone else suggested:)
you can turn of the storms with /worldconfig temporalStorms [off] and no more storms or /worldconfig temporalRifts [off] so there are no more drifters in your house or out side only underground but then you are on easy mode
I know, but I figured I wanted the dev approved experience. I think they should do more with the storm mechanic, currently it's pretty bare bones and more of an annoyance.
Temporal gears can be used to restore some stability to an area.
I know, but I didn't really need to?
Is there a way to get a count of all the materials used in a build in creative mode?
Hey! No there isn't. I even asked Tyron on reddit at some point (the main developer). I just estimated everything by hand which sucked, but that's just what it is at the moment.
Hyped up
Good!
Anyone know why his tenporal stability is fairly low at the beginning ??
@@Jason-k-Jones The chunk where I chose to build had low temporal stability. I had to install a mod that changes stability per chunk basis to fix that. I was set on the location. I didn't show it in the video because I didn't feel it was that pertinent. The mod is in the video's description though.
100 days in vintage story takes time and life , but bruh do 700 days
Eventually that's the plan. That will take several years though.
naah, wolves are real danger only at night. They are so chill during day
They are never chill in my experience
Picking up shingles one by one? Can't you put and take them in multiples of 5 with ctrl? Also cattails can be harvested with a scythe. If you did it just to be corrected for engagement i can respect that
I figured out the shingle stuff later in the video, where I learned about the 5 shingles per click. Didn't know you can harvest cattails with scythe though, that's cool. Although by the time that's relevant I didn't need to harvest them any more.
You can never have enough cattails since cattails = candles = lanterns. I plant them in rows of three wide, like a farm, and then harvest them with the scythe.
@@amber_amber62 wait how do cattails = candles?
@@Oscillascape Cattails = Skeps = Wax = Candles. Also you can place the wood 5 at a time, save your finger when placing stacks in your charcoal pit :)
Thanks for the info. I'll look into that!
gooooood)
True
Curious… could you list out your mod list for this game in this video? The Plains and Valleys mod looks amazing to play with!
I added them to the description of the video. Hope that's helpful.
Whoa wait. Is there a hot key for making a map waypoint?! I saw him pick some resin and then an orange mark appeared on the mini map
It's called auto map marker mod, check my video description for the exact title, but yes it does exactly that.
Desert or Jungle coming some day?
Yes, that's on the radar for this year, one of the challenges I want to do.
ive been searching for iron for in game weeks, it makes me jealous you found it in ten days flat
In my experience iron is not really hard to find. Thing is, it generates massive disks, so even if your pro pick returns low results it can be worth digging. Once you find a disk you will be set for a lot of time.
