They don't even need a spaceship so long as they get flung in the direction of the Death Star they should be able to use their magnetic function in their armour to walk along the outside and reach an entry point all together.

@@maxxsbrother2 Probably. Remember, Luke had R2 the first time they stumbled onto the D1. Yet Obi Wan still had to manually shut down the tractor beam. This was because Ep 4 was made in the 70s with their understanding of technology. Meaning, not everything was accessable from a terminal. Though, R2 still had control over the trash compactors.
This implies that only information and a few less vital components were connectes to the main computer. This would prevent Cortana from essental components like the main laser and main power core.
Meaning Cortana would be able to find weaknesses in the D1, but Master Chief would have to do all the leg work in shutting it down.
Then again, what else is new.

The outcome of this engagement, a UNSC victory, would be even more likely if using their post human-covenant war ships. With the forerunner tech enabling far more accurate slip space jumps, if the fighters ever got too close, the fleet could simply make a jump to the opposite side of the death star and continue the bombardment, and if some fighters do happen to reach them, the shielding on the infinity class, Autumn class and strident class ships should hold them off for long enough.
@Travis L We got a Star Wars fanboy over here. And his range isn’t that long. He shut down ships a few thousand meters in the air at his max power, the distance between the Death Star and the fleet is much bigger.

technically isn't the Post Human-Covenant war ships not entirely using Forerunner and Ancient Human technology? Since iirc, correct me if I'm wrong, only UNSC Infinity had Forerunner shielding technology and a more advanced FTL technology.

And salvaged covenant tech of course (which is FAR more abundant and easy to acquire then forerunner tech usually is), with a lot of defecting engineers (both the species and actual engineers form a variety of species.), scientists and whatnot for good measure. Salvaged tech which they can study in relative peace with the war over. Halo 5 has things like a needler hog with energy shields for example.

He literally hunts about average 100 aliens every mission, and according to the UNSC council he fought 203 official combat missions what's nothing compared of his total fighting carrier, so according to that he official eliminated 20300 with his own hands, and if we talk about unofficial with no UNSC backup support,= he slayed more than 700 aliens within every day, that would count as more than trillions in numbers, 25000? Even ungoys are stronger and durable than storm troopers, But....those siths are something

Which is exactly why UNSC should not do a Spartan boarding party, Master Chief can do it all himself. Why use the death star when a holdout blaster will do? (Not that Master Chief isn't awesome, just saying that a whole team of spartans would be unnecessary, as Master Chief can do it himself)
Kingsnake Command dude...the Empire has Vader. He would simply catch Chief in a Force choke and use his Lightsaber to deflect all projectiles that he launches at the Dark Lord. Chief is awesome, but Vader would kill him easy.
@@jordanhendrix2619 But Vader can only be in once place at a time, and weird plot-convenient force powers aside, he'd have to rely on the information gathered by the troops that come across the Spartans (so if the spartan teams go in supported by ODSTs and split into multiple groups to confuse intel) and either the ability to plot an intercept course or to travel dozens of miles through the station to reach them before they're long gone - plus there's the fact that he's practically the de-facto commander of the armed forces, so he's gonna be somewhat distracted by dozens of ships bombarding them. Also it's entirely possible that he'd underestimate the threat they pose as they don't possess the force.
Biggest problem deploying the Spartans, is actually getting them there, between all the concentrated fire from the fleet, the length of time they'd have to travel and the possibility of interception by Tie fighters, it'd pretty much charge of the light brigade mark 2. And even if mile-thick plot armour managed to get them there and complete the objective, they're pretty much screwed cos they won't be able to extract in time.

There is a much simpler solution for the UNSC to win. Have a ship "surrender" with a NOVA bomb armed. They get pulled into a hanger bay, then goodbye Death Star. Just like Joyous Exaltation.
OOOOOOOR just create a slipspace bomb or the NOVA bomb or the bomb he gave back to the covenant....put in the hanger, put Chief IN THAT hanger and dump him in a head on collision course with the target :P done.
Imperial officers aren't dumb enough not to scan the ship. not to mention they don't accept surrender and would destroy the ship immediately and enter battle

Hang on a moment.. Since when was the DS1 capable of hitting capital ships? I thought only the DS2 had the targeting capabilities required for that.
The DS1 never faced off against capital ships but we assume it has the same capabilities as the DS2 in that regard
If you think about it, it doesn’t really make any sense for it to be able to fire at capital ships. The DS-1’s lowest firing mode was able to pretty much blast an entire continent into the stratosphere as seen in rouge one. That kind of power would be massively wasted on almost any capital ship ever designed, and especially on any capital ship the rebellion was capable of fielding. Given that the enemy ships would have to enter the DS-1s turbolaser range to mount a direct assault on the station, and the DS-1 was bountifully equipped with conventional weaponry, it would be highly illogical for that feature to be added. I don’t think it would be added solely based on the fact that it would be completely impractical to actually do. The DS-1 was not designed with the mindset of picking off capital ships at long range, if it was, there would be several more economical ways to go about doing that than the DS-1.
Well,in legends before the rebels had access to the plans of the deathstar the moment they heard of it they scrambled a task force,of like 500 fighters launched by one lucrehulk,and the deathstar at 2% power capability destroyed the smaller battle station in a single blast as the TIEs and 2 star destroyers stationed there at the time took care of the fighters
@@starmada105 that wasn't the lowest power for the laser. That was them just deciding to use one of the three huge reactors at max to blow up the city. And as it is shown in a later comic it was too much. The laser is scalable in power when it fires.

We've seen that thing sail casually through a covenant fleet, getting layered with plasma fire, and then take on a forerunner ship, which use hardlight, which is basically more advanced than anything in the sw universe (maby other than a light saber), and it came out with minimal damage

@@cataclysmicdelta1828 I'm fully aware of it. Most of the debris that would have hit the death star would carry a lot more momentum than a mac round. Even if we factor in force consentration, the difference in size between the projectiles would make it irrelevant.
One thing I think you forgot about is the missiles and nukes that even the frigates have. As soon as the tie fighters have left the effective gun range of the turbo lasers, the UNSC could just nuke them. They would have to fly far apart to avoid them all being destroyed with one nuke, and 92 frigates would have no problem completely obliterating all the ties.
A cowboy, an old jedi, and a young boy and his droids were able to board and fend off storm troopers without ANY protection except stolen armor(which seems pretty useless) but masterchief boarding the death star is too far fetched???

This would most likely take the shape of them jacking her into some of the death-stars computer systems. How ever that would require compatible ports for them to jack her into said computers. Remember Star Wars technology is largely direct and analog despite being more advanced than ours. Aside from Communications I can't exactly recall much Star Wars technology being wireless.

They do actually have AI in their ships. BUT it's not as advanced as Halo AI. Honestly I don't see why star wars doesn't use AI the same way as Halo. They have figured out how to basically "cure" rampancy by deleting their memories. And in R2s case he didn't go rambant. Well, at least not in a bad way.

One of the Halo books had an ODST mission, everyone carrying demo charges, some nuclear. It was intended as a borderline one-way sabotage, and it worked. Very few survivors, but the charges carried by the now-fallen Helljumpers were in adequate positions to cause quite a bit of damage.
An ODST raid following that template might be a good choice. Have all the charges synchronized, and try to plant them & escape. Plausible worst case? Unit wiped out fighting their way through, and the charges go.

I don't think Chief would survive Vader. No amount of luck in the Galaxy is going to overpower the Force, especially when Vader can just lift Chief up with it and casually walk forwards with his Lightsaber held out to kill him. I mean, Energy Swords one shot Spartans, and I don't think they have anywhere near the same power output as a Lightsaber, considering Energy Swords can't seem to really damage even lightly armoured vehicles.

Chief simply waits floating in mid-air for Vader to get close enough, then kicks the light saber so it destroys Vader's life support system! I'm not sure a canonical force choke would even work unless Stormtroopers could knock Chief unconscious and somehow take off his Mjolnir power armor first... it seems to mostly be used against officers and security that are at best wearing a hard hat and Spartans are surgically enhanced!
Don't forget that Chief usually also has Cortana's assistance and picks up a lot of alien goodies along the way, possibly even finding Obi-Wan's light saber!!! I just don't see how Vader can cause enough damage for a decisive victory. Darth Sidious' lightning seems like child's play to dodge with Spartan-2 reflexes, so without someone as over powered as Darth Plagueis... but if the expanded universes get involved, John-117 becomes even more powerful as the Forerunner heir!

It’s not even effective. The Death Star’s shield protects it against debris billions of times heavier than a MAC round and moving slightly faster. A single spherical chunk of debris 60 km in radius and traveling at 15,000 km/s (the speed we see in the movie) has a KE of 2.6 trillion super-MAC rounds. It would take 55 years of continuous fire for the entire earth defense grid to fire that many rounds

The first death star mainly relied on turbo lasers for destroying debree. According to Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, the Death Star was simply too large to have a single effective shield based inside the station. It had to make do with shielding for individual critical components and use armour, a considerable magnetic field and overlapping Turbolasers to protect the rest of the Station from orbital impacts.
It also couldn't sustain the shielding in all the area's it even had shielding and fire all of its weapons batteries at the same time. offence and armor was the main defence.

They said in catalyst that they were working on the problem. As far as I know, we don’t know whether or not they succeeded, so they may have been able to resolve it and fully shield the station. This is the full quote that someone on the sci-fi stack exchange provided to explain why the Death Star’s shields didn’t protect against fighters (scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/150283/why-didnt-the-original-death-stars-shields-protect-against-small-fighters/150284#150284);

As you can see, the quote never outright says that they failed in their efforts to project a larger shield. It said that they’re working on it. And he said multiple generators distributed evenly across the entire hull, not multiple generators protecting critical components. To me that suggests that he’s planning on doing something similar to my idea, which was using many, many smaller generators to make it trivially easy. And it’s not a problem of power requirement: the Death Star can destroy a planet, which means it should be able to project a multi-petaton level shield with no noticeable power drop to the laser (even 4 petatons is 0.000076% of the MINIMUM amount of energy required to destroy an earth-like planet)
One of these days I’ll read catalyst and see what’s what. Until such a time that someone can fully convince me that the Death Star had minimal shielding, I choose to believe otherwise from a lack of evidence.

I seriously doubt that the Death Star's armor is that strong. I feel like there had to have been kinetic shielding. I feel like that is inescapable. There is a possible explanation, though: the Death Star's shield may selectively block high-speed objects from passing through, but allow low-speed objects such as fighters, shuttles, and missiles. Another explanation is that the Death Star simply didn't raise its shields when the Rebel fighters were approaching. They may not have felt very threatened. I mean, I know that if I were in a moon-sized battle station, I wouldn't worry at all if I see a bunch of fightercraft approaching. By the time the imperials realized that there is a danger to the station, the rebel craft were already under the shield and nothing could be done but launch their own fighters. I suspect that the second theory is more likely, but there's no way to prove it. Naturally, since MAC rounds are high-speed objects, they'll be blocked by the shield in the first theory; but boarding craft and low-speed missiles like Archer missiles would be able to bypass the shield. If the first theory is the true case, it becomes extremely possible for the UNSC to destroy the Death Star, by detonating something such as a NOVA bomb inside the shield. Otherwise, the Death Star is invincible.
So, to figure out how much mass would have hit the Death Star, first we have to make a couple critical assumptions (because I'd rather avoid painstaking analysis of the film. The first assumption is that the mass of Alderaan shot out in every direction equally. Essentially, I mean that there are no "blind spots" where someone could place their ship and have the debris sail harmlessly by. Similarly, there are no spots that are "safer." Every point a certain radius from the explosion is just as dangerous as every other point that same distance away. This simplifies the math greatly. The second assumption is that the average densities of Earth and Alderaan are the same.
To start, we can express the amount of mass that will hit the Death Star as a percentage of of Alderaan's overall mass. To find this percentage, we need to know how far away from Alderaan the DS was and the profile area of the DS facing the epicenter of the explosion. Both of these are quite simple.
Wookieepedia.com/wiki/Alderaan gives the diameter of Alderaan as 12,500 km, or a radius of 6,250 km (slightly smaller than Earth's).
Volume of Alderaan = 4/3 * pi * (6,250,000m)^3
Volume of Alderaan = 10^21 m^3
Mass of Alderaan = Average density of Earth * Volume of Alderaan
Mass of Alderaan = 5,515kg/m^3 * 10^21 m^3
Mass of Alderaan = 5.6x10^24 kg
So we find that Alderaan's mass is slightly smaller than Earth's (5.97x10^24 kg), which is to be expected because Alderaan's radius is slightly smaller. Now we also need to know the profile area of the Death Star. And since the DS is (approximately) a sphere, its profile area will always be a circle. Wookieepedia.com/wiki/DS-1_Orbital_Battle_Station cites the Death Star's diameter as 160 km, or a radius of 80,000 meters.
Profile area = pi * radius^2
Profile area = pi * (80,000m)^2
Profile area = 2x10^10 m^2
The final thing we need to figure the percentage is the surface area of a sphere with a radius equal to the distance between the DS and Alderaan, or 200,000km plus the radius of the planet, 6,250 km.
Surface area of sphere = 4 * pi * r^2
Surface area of sphere = 4 * pi * (206,250,000m)^2
Surface area of sphere = 5.35x10^17 m^2
The final thing we need to do is to multiply the mass of Alderaan by the profile area of the Death Star and to divide by the surface area of the giant sphere.
Percentage = Profile area of DS / Surface area of the big sphere * 100
Percentage = 2x10^10 m^2 / 5.35x10^17 m^2 * 100
Percentage = 0.00000004 * 100
So, 0.000004% of Alderaan's mass would strike the Death Star.
Mass of projectile = 0.00000004 * 5.6x10^24 kg
Mass of projectile = 2.1x10^17 kg, or 70 billion times more massive than a SMAC round
KE of mass = 0.5mv^2
KE of mass = 0.5 * (2.1x10^17 kg) * (15,000,000m)^2
KE of mass = 2.4x10^31 J, or 5.7 trillion gigatons.
That's the result: 5.7 trillion gigatons. Interestingly, this is significantly smaller than my previous calculation for a single rock. (In that calculation I got 134 trillion gigatons). It seems that on a small scale, the math is rather inaccurate, and when you take the math to the large scale, it becomes far more accurate and consequently the number shrinks. A lot.
The final result, which is as close to reality as I can get without painstaking analysis, is that the Death Star's shields absorbed the equivalent of over 100 billion SMAC rounds fired at full power.”

to be fair like half the station or more is essentially just a massive fusion generator but yeah seeing as us navy carrier has a crew of 4000, the death star should, in theory, have a crew in the hundreds of thousands or millions. The death star is a space station with an interior all the way through. There should be AT LEAST billions of crew if not trillions inhabiting its many levels, each with the capacity of the size of a small moon. Especially since we see so many people in the tiny fraction of a fraction of what we see of the interior during episode 4.
@@bobbyflynn6352 true, but again, most of the the death star is mostly empty space, the interior is mostly taken up by the fusion generator as we see in return of the jedi, and even outside of that, much of the station is ventilation shafts, storage, fuel depots, and cooling devices, after all it is a massive laser weapon and thus heat generated would be extreme. Plus a large portion of its operations are probably handled by droids.
@@Jordonzo those droids would require maintenance. Plus even if only the outer kilometer was living/work space that would still be millions of people. Considering that a single star destroyer had a crew of nearly 50,000 a moon sized space station would reasonably require many more. Even if 90% of it is machinery, that still leaves hundreds of cubic kilometers for crew.

Something I think you may have left out is also the difference in AI. Well the Star wars universe does have droids the shipboard AI'S or in this case the death Star AI never really seem to be that competent. Several Cortana class AIS would be able to infiltrate together whatever intel was needed or just blow the thing up internally.
I don't think they would, the technology doesn't seem to be capable. Star Wars technology and computers is more physical. If they were plugged in yes unless wise no way to enter.

I was. . . I was making a bad joke about the safety concerns of slip-space technology. Literally just moving a capital ship sized chunk of the death-star somewhere else would no doubt be a smart move.
If the video was dealing with Halo 4+ lore instead of the state of humanity in Halo 2, then it'd just be all about sending a spartan team in to infiltrate their way into the main reactor of the death-star before activating the 'warp bomb'. It'd be a lot more efficient than just deleting a portion of the outer hull.
I easily see a team of Spartans led by Master Chief being successful in boarding the Death Star.
They would be able to target a wide variety of structures and unless the Empire manages to miraculously stop them, they could do some very successful sabotage.

One other point the UNSC has is that they have Shiva nukes. Between mac blasts drilling holes in the armor and then dropping nukes inside it more then doubles their damage output.
And also the tie's wouldn't be to difficult to deal with, given that they are unshielded and the UNSC has missile spam out the wazzu with the addition of point defense the ties would be running blind into hell fire. Or in combination with my other point fire a nuke into a large grouping of them and vaporize them.

the biggest issue the unsc had with covenant ships was that their macs could not fire fast enough. mac cannons take a lot of energy to fire, the orbital platforms had entire power plants planet side to keep a single platform firing continuously, and the ship based macs would take minutes to recharge. a single mac shot hitting a covenant ship would break the shields but by the time the cannon had recharged the covenant ships shields had recharged as well. to counter this the unsc started using ship AIs to coordinate fire between multiple ships to all focus on single targets. using the AIs they would pump out a continuous volume of fire all targeted at whichever covenant ship posed the biggest threat.
they would also combine mac fire with tactical nukes, firing the nukes minutes before hand, waiting to fire the macs while the nuke traveled to its target. then firing their macs seconds before it detonated to break shields. in orbital battles they would even fire their nukes in the opposite direction. the nuke would orbit around the other side of the planet and come from behind the covenant fleet.
against the death star the unsc shipboard AIs would be able to punch a hole clear through in a matter of minutes.
I agree with all of this while he understood that Macs range would not be an issue. If you launch a multi ton bullet at speeds approching the speed of light doesn't matter you have 30km thick armor. Small mentors hit earth at only super to hyper sonic speeds with devestating effect.

I think the issue that isn't addressed is the deatstar doesn't move very fast, but it doesn't need to if ships are trying to circle around it from a distance. (Think of a gate. The hinges don't move at the same speed the end of the gate moves)
Also I think they don't need a strait line, as depicted anyways, for the deatstar to target a ship with its lasers. (RotJ ds blowing up their capital ships for example) and in a strait up fight it comes down to Unsc fraying the laser out of commission before their fleet is annihilated.
That being said looking at numbers, that's not really a lot of men defending the Ds. Vader won't necessarily be on it, making a full fledged invasion the best option, while the capital ships distracts the fighters/Ds from invasion force.
Also....how far is the tractor beam on the ds. Could it not, theoretically drag ships into its kill zones?
Check the Return of the Jedi deleted scenes. the death star 2 (the bigger one) can do a full 180 in about the same time it took fighters to enter the core and get out. (Moff Jerjerod hesitates for a moment before following the emperor's order to destroy endor- with the empire's legions on planet- which was the difference between getting the shot off on the planet or not. This arc also made it into the Return of the Jedi novelization.

The Dish would actually be an optimal point of attack. Not only is the armor weakest there, but its where the majority of the DS's energy is managed. Leading straight to the core.
The Superlaser isnt the only weapons on the Death Star, it has more firepower loaded onto it than 100 Imperial Starfleets worth of destroyers with the range of the biggest of their warships. You're not winning a straight on fight with the Death Star, any ship bigger than a freighter that tries will get shredded by the defensive screen, the only reason the X-wings were able to get in under them is because the Empire doesnt consider them a large threat, and even then they had buttfucktons of TIE fighters to just puke at them ,and only by a miracle and a lucky shot did they succeed.
Also, even though the turbo lasers have an effective range because it's energy should disperse with range, given that UNSC ships are unshielded, how much damage they would do outside effective range would be interesting to explore.
You conveniently left out the fact that that Death Star doesn't travel without an escort fleet. Kind of changes things drastically.
Not really, the fleets range is still far to inferior to fight off from range.
Even the FAR more advanced vessels in the future trilogy suffered from this drawback on a fleet that was out of gas and fleeing.
One super consistent thing in star wars, is range. They dogfight and broadside, Halo and even modern warfare is all about range, whether it be from over 24km Cannon fire or up to 200km missiles. The Mac Cannon, basically infinite range so long as they're within a targeting range. The Autumn in Halo CE could detect ships on the other side of a planet.
They could effortlessly keep their distance. However, if a Star Destroyer did get within broadside or turret range. It'd melt the UNSC ships in minutes.

While 25k stormtroopers sounds like a LOT, you have to realize how big the death star is. If you only stationed them on the surface, that would be less than one stormtrooper per square kilometer. That would make ingress of a boarding operation trivially easy. If you consider volume, that would be one stormtrooper having to guard more than 25 cubic kilometers. This makes it obvious that only the most vital parts would be guarded by stormtroopers. And so a boarding operation could quite easily gain local force superiority and inflict major damage.
Masterchief did take on covenant and flood alone on high charity which I would call a fair comparison. So you are right its a walk in the park.

Realistically, the Spartans couldn't take the Death Star. No. Even if every Spartan successfully boarded it, they're only in company-strength. What they COULD do, however, would be to eliminate defences in a specific area and then clear a path in, say, a port, for ODSTs and marines to board. However, I doubt that any UNSC fleet would be able to carry enough troops to really capture the Death Star. It'd take probably 20,000+ troops to do so and I don't see the advantage of capturing it. It'd cost thousands of lives and scores of ships, and would be far easier to destroy it with the fleet.
If the Spartans had to board it'd be to get nukes inside the station and detonate them from inside. That would work; they wouldn't have to get far inside to do it; the nuclear detonations of even a handful of nukes would tear massive holes in the Death Star and cause catastrophic damage.
There may be 25,000 troopers, but there would also be workers, officers, medics, pilots, etc.

This is the first video I've seen of yours and I really liked it. I think you have a great premise here. If we were to include the imperial fleet though, I think the empire would win just out of sheer number. I do think those MAC cannons could one shot star destroyers, as they can destroy ultra high alien tech ships, but the imperial fleet in addition to the death star would be quite a sizable enemy.
If you read the books, then especially at first the MAC cannons take like 2-3 shots to completely disable the equivalent sized covenant ships, but absolutely, if the imperial fleet mobilize Even a few dozen star destroyers then the UNSC fleet dies.
Currently:Chief and arbiter inside the death star fighting to the control room to ram it into a planet.
Unfortunately, we know how the Imperial Navy likes to underestimate their enemies, so I think we're looking at something even more one-sided in favor of the UNSC. The UNSC has something to benefit them in the form of nearly 80 MAC blasts per minute for several minutes until the DS whittles them down or until they crack the hull of the DS, the latter option I think would be more likely.
All-in-all, I estimate that the engagement ranges of the targets and the various strategies of available forces would lead to the same one-sided victory. I see no way for the Death Star alone to win in a fight with the UNSC.

The UNSC is using projectile weapons and the laser point defense capabilities of Star Wars ships are well known. They’d just melt all the Mac rounds and blow up all the missiles as they came in. Those that hit the Death Star won’t break through the 3 kilometers of armor. The UNSC would run out of ammo, and all of their ships would be hit with the 750 tractor beam arrays that have extremely long range. The UNSC ships would get lasered to death or get pulled in and get lasered to death by the ten thousand turbo lasers and thousands of strike craft. The best weapon the UNSC has are the shiva nukes, actually, but those will also get lasered by point defenses.

Additionally, I see nothing about armor on the DS-1 from the wookiepedia or any other sources. The most I see the Death Star having is shields, but we've seen the effect shields had on the fighters. A light jostling. If the shields had any effect on weapons, they were only for plasma/laser types, not kinetics and missiles.
Additionally, it's the incredibly close ranges that the Empire prefers to fight at, that would take them down. Hubris and desiring to show their own 'superiority' would be incredibly lethal. The Humans from the halo-verse have become familiar with fighting at literal light-seconds in distance, not the hundreds or thousands of kilometers which aren't even effective for the 'advanced' weapons used on the DS-1.
Additionally, those turbolasers, as well as deflector shield towers and tractor beam towers, weren't adequately shielded. The DS-1 wasn't prepared for KKW's because no one in the Star Wars universe has canonically used them for thousands of years... because they were considered 'wasteful' and 'primitive'. But for a society that advanced on the principles of utilizing the maximum levels of accuracy for those weapons... it gets bad. Real bad. Real fast. But not for the guys using 'slug throwers' as they're called in Star Wars.

@@AT-3109 Depends on what sith lord. Canon vader could maybe beat chief but chief is lucky and is a killing machine, Legends vader just crushes chief instantly but we are using canon vader here, so Chief beats vader (Due to luck, skill, weapons) and probably loses to palpatine.
