Then the Asteroid feild is immersed with free floating mines and well hidden defence platforms. Then you have Mars....(another world power in itself) from ship yards to ammunition facilities, you are looking down at the one planet that fuels the leading interest of all materials for war in the galaxy. Then you traverse to "Holy" Terra (which is earth 40k in the future) defended by multiple continent sized weapon platforms, orbital stations, legions upon legions of ships in orbit and its moon weaponized to the brim...... The Citadel: An automated and nearly indestructible shell meant to buy time for their navy to send elite soldiers to counter forces dumb enough to try to crack that shell.
    Earth: A very well equipped and powerful military staging ground that has an orbital defense system that makes the Covenant and Flood both very nervous.
    Terra: if there isn't a shrine to something, there's an Earth shattering weapon or warrior pointed right at your face. With a legion of warriors that could take Thanos on daily running drills trying to subvert and infiltrate their own defenses and failing, a numberless fleet of literal death stars and have to pass through literal hell just to pick up their mail in the morning regarding military experience, and orbital stations the size of continents armed with weapons that could force a star to supernova if they wanted to all GUARDING an entity who can create Galaxy sized vortexes of annihilation. Which post war is home to the Spartan Branch.
      He only uses the end of the war like the UNSC didn't build any ships post war. And didn't have an Air Force or AA guns , missile launchers ground based MACs capable of taking down a ship in orbit or missile silos of the nuclear kind aimed at space.
      Then puts Mass Effect which has capital ships the size of a small UNSC frigate above Earth's defenses ?. Yeah lack of knowledge there.

      The Galactic Empire also is a very advanced civilization. Though it's not exactly geared towards all out warfare unlike the Imperium and the UNSC which really hasn't been all that peaceful. If you think about it the UNSC armed forces are basically the US military in space. And as you probably know the US has been at war for a total of 93% of its 243 years history. I highly doubt that is going to change over the next 500 years.
      Chances are UNSC/UEG history goes ww1,ww2, Korean war, Vietnam, Iraq wars , Afghanistan war, etc , Resource wars , Mars wars , Inter planetary wars , Insurrection War 1 , Human Covenant War, Insurrection war 2, Booding years war aka Sangheili civil war intervention, Wars against Splinter Covenant groups, the Created War. Basically around 700 ish years of near constant wars for whatever reason.
      The Imperium knows all too well that Humans have been killing each other for thousands of years since the first caveman smashed another's skull in with a rock.
      And they know which side of the rock they rather be on.
      What I find funny in this video is that Eck choose to use the UNSC at its weakest point rather than post war. In both cases it took overwhelming force just to land on earth and still the ground was contested. And the Covenant never achieved space/ air superiority. Because even after they broke through more UNSC ships arrived from fleets they had bypassed to get to Earth.
      As to the Emperor 1000 Psykers is an arbitrary number. It likely takes more than that per day. And his life support is failing. And the Tech priest don't know how to fix it. Mostly because the Imperium the great Imperium that the Emperor once ruled that was a great home to talented artisans and brilliant scientists is now a superstition shell of what it was.
      10,000 years of religious dogma has actually destroyed the once proud Imperium of Mankind.

    Since you said "HOMEWORLD" and not the entire system you have to consider that
    1). Terra's sub-lunar space is so crowded with capital ships orbiting it, that you can practically hopscotch your way from Terra to the moon. So much so that the combined mass of the ships crowding the area have their own gravity field due to the sheer mass of them concentrated around one spot.
    2). There are also numerous orbiting space defense platforms the size of the mother-ship in Independence Day Resurgence orbiting Terra (described as the size of entire continents) studded with "gape-maw'ed graviton world enders" each the size of mount Everest, and each described as powerful enough to vaporise entire 40k battlefleets in a single blast.
    3). Abaddon spent many years thinking of a way to break through Terra (and he has thousands of years to contemplate this) and in his mind it cannot be done. Even if Terra was the last planet left in the Imperium, it just cannot be overpowered. Abaddon's current plan is to spread the warp over Terra instead to fight bullshit with more bullshit.

      He did a fairly good job, though I think if he knew how the imperium's defensive strategy works he probably wouldn't have. Because the only time a force can even make it a few sectors in is when GW wants to bullshit plot to happen. Which is fine, shit has to get done. But typically the more worlds you put under threat, the more neighboring sectors start preparing for war, eventually snowballing into forces the likes of which all of star war's wars couldn't match.

    • @ZZMonkeysUncleZZ
      @ZZMonkeysUncleZZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, in some ways Star Wars can be a decent matchup if you go by EU stuff, even if it loses overall. Halo and Mass Effect are pretty funny though, since the former isn't ancient species.

    • @NeiasaurusCreations
      @NeiasaurusCreations 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@ZZMonkeysUncleZZ No it really can't though. Because the GRA, probably the single most powerful army, was only 6,000,000 men including pilots, tanks crews, etc. A single planet from warhammer 40k out produces that by fifty or so times. For example, Krieg can supply multiple entire armies of 18,000,000+ men, keep them topped up on numbers, and still supply regiments, and other forces. There's also the period he chose to pit. See, he chose GRA, which was star war at it's prime in terms of power. And then 40k era imperium, which is the imperium after 10,000 years of backsliding. Instead, I'd make the case that the GRA would not be fighting 40k imperium, but 30k Great crusade imperium. Meaning the Emporer, all 18 primarchs, all 18 LEGIONs, and the imperial auxiliary would be a police force mostly. Keep world compliment, and clean up the mess from whatever legion just got down royally molesting the world with absent of a safeword. Why? Because in a scenario of a galaxy invasion, 40k would be unlikely to launch such a thing. However, the great crusade was all about humanity on offense, reclaiming the stars, and destroying all alien life...Such as a galaxy full of treacherous aliens. So if you put the GRA, I'd put forth space marine legions. At which point there's absolutely no comparison, 40k's Legions take the buck in every way. A clone can't match the might of an astarte, and a jedi can't match a primarch. The GRA would be over run in a few years at best, and most of that would be space travel. The crusade era imperium would be such a one-sided victory that likely only a few legions would even be sent, after all the imperium is busy taking over the entire galaxy by force of arms, in actual planet sieges in scale and scope that star wars just doesn't deliver. Hell the Iron warriors, and their supporting elements of armor, and titans could utterly destroy the republic by itself, just a single legion. Perty would be on Coruscant in a few days, and have bled the GRA dry in a week. It wouldn't have the numbers needed to even remotely counter the entire iron warrior's legion. But even 40k's imperium would be able to just destroy them with the successor chapters of a single legion, and a krieg army. Throw 18,000,000 men, and like 200,000 space marines of the ultramarines and their successors at the GRA and watch it shatter. Probably not as fast as the actual great crusade era, but still fast enough. It would, in either case, be rape with the absence of any type of safe word. No I'm not saying sorry I used arch's joke twice, it was equally as true the second time.

      Within the context of the game it is extremely understandable how that happened, but it makes it so much more horrifying since that ship is a reaper with, as you saw, nigh impenetrable armour and lasers that can destroy ANYTHING but I think that the Citadel should be above Coruscant since it could move across mass relays, you also can't destroy it, it was also used for civilian life so it's understandable how little defense it has.

The Terran Dominion (StarCraft) and UNSC (Halo) are at about the right level for a comparison and they have access to similar tech - except that Terrans have access to psychics.

      I think the hardest part of the comparison is the timeframe. A lot of 40k fans pointed out that the Halo universe could have actually existed in the 40k universe's past. Much of contemporary history thousands of years in each direction are lost in the 40k universe and the whole halo episode could have occurred and been forgotten. Earth's defenses in halo then would be like comparing DC's current defenses against humanity 40k years ago, so really no comparison. Thus, I agree with you but for different reasons. Another interesting theory about 40k history is that Event Horizon occurred in 40k's history as well

      Depends.
      Weapon rate of fire goes to mass effect
      Durability goes to 40K
      Tech goes to Mass Effect. This is mainly due to Imperium stagnation where as Mass Effect in 3 years post Citadel battle jumped up very quick in tech/lot of lore was built in the comics and ANN/CERBERUS Network intel.
      Weapons overall raw power is 50/50 for both due to rates of fire. A 40k main gun Weapons compare to a mass effect main gun is silly at first. However main guns of mass effect fire every 5 seconds at 1/3 speed of light prior to the thanix weapon and upgraded system cores. Broadside and flack guns fire every 2 seconds.
      40k does big payloads and then takes awhile to fire again their weapons. Their torpedoes are mostly negated to the GARDIAN system, Arnex System and better use of V.I/A.I tech interface.
      Fighters/interceptors eat 40k imperium strike craft due to speed, power, agility and being supported by the ofher ships defenses that are also anti fighter personnel that are way leagues better than 40k anti strike craft on their ships.
      Ships overall in mass effect are faster, easy to navigate and move but do bare in mind that Mass Effect can do what a lot of other sci fi universes can. However they do have laws and regulations in place to limit power, nanites/extreme ways to wage war.

Star Wars... has it "easy" compared to the Warhammer 40k Universe. Only The Beast of Slaughter and Horus have ever successfully invaded Terra, and I'm honest enough to admit that they would both make short work of Coruscant's defenses. That's how overwhelming those invasions were.

      JCDenton 2012 well... also the black templars and imperial fists in M34 (date?). But that was a civil/political matter rather than an outright invasion.

    • @Char1iBr0wn
      @Char1iBr0wn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Successful implies winning. Neither the Beast nor Horus won. The Beast set a planetary object in place that did not invade and was defeated by the reunited Imperial Fists Legion, and Horus and all the Traitors failed.
      So no one has ever been successful.

    A common misconception, the starships in Star Wars don't orbit planets, they hover at extreme altitude, at least in episode 3. You'll notice that the ships fall when destroyed.

  • @ImperialHarbinger

    Another point for the Imperium is that there's literally a giant gate underneath Terra's palace that leads to the webway, which is basically an intergalactic highway built within a literal hell-realm from which essentially billions of daemons can flow forth from. To think that legions of Titans, specialist anti-psychic pariahs, and almost-godlike Custodians were actually able to fend off an invasion of that very nature is staggering.

  • @SIRslipperyasp91
    @SIRslipperyasp91 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    I don't Even need to watch the Vidoe to know 40k beats this. Terra has turned the entire contents of nothing America into a single impenetrable fortress garden by countless legions of zeless millenium old post human Warriors equipped with the best technology 28,000 years of human ingenuity would produce.
    This is all within a setting where planets getting blown up are a standered occurrence.

      Well, Terra does not actually have Space Marines on its blessed soil. The population banned Space Marines from being on the surface of Terra without a very good reason; They don't like Space Marines because of the Horus Heresy. But the Phalanx and the Imperial Fists still get to sit around in orbit

      Hell, even if we completely ignore the fact that the Emperor's banana guards weren't already bigger & badder than the Space Marines, do you realize how much Dark Age tech they got horded up in that Palace? Advanced gravity vehicles that glide gracefully through the air while having all the same protection as the big lumbering tanks, Adrathic disintegration guns that makes charged Plasma fire look like went sponges by comparison? Lastrum Bolter rounds that cause thermite reactions inside your body? And let's not forget all the Dark Age weapons the Assasinorum are sporting.

    1st: Imperium of Man
    2nd: Galactic Empire, perhaps joint with UNSC depending upon timings with post-war or not.
    3rd: UNSC, but could be Joint 2nd with Empire based on Active Ship types, numbers and whether a second Infinity-Class was built.
    4th: Systems Alliance.... The UNSC never retreated from their home-world when the Covenant, sure it got hit hard, but they held. Same story with the Imperium. They never lost Holy Terra to some space Squids. Even during the Horus Heresy, it never fell.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The UNSC also never retreated form Reach at the same time. Reach's orbital defenses fall and months later UNSC ground forces where still giving the Covenant hell. The UNSC are if nothing else a stubborn mule of a human empire . You can glass their planets and they will still send a fleet to reclaim it at all cost. The battle for Harvest lasted 5 years of straight up hell and fire with both suffering heavy loses . Yet the UNSC retook the planet. I personally think the Imperium wouldn't even try fighting the UNSC but would a choose more diplomatic approach like they did with the Squats . Due to the UNSC sharing the traits of being stubborn and fiercely independent . Granting the UNSC a high level of autonomy compared to other Imperial worlds. It might start as trading then slowly absorbed the UNSC . But that would be best case for the Imperium as fighting a culture that wasn't affected by the age of strife is not the best ideal. I agree with your listing though . The UNSC's Earth is less defensible than Terra but better defended than the System Alliance . Since they never broke ranks or retreated from their homeworld. Granted the UNSC does have a much more defensible planet in their list of planets which is of course Onyx. Because there's nothing any faction on the list could do to get into a Forerunner built shield world with a dyson sphere inside it. That the UNSC happens to own and have a science team on the planet currently. Along with a number of Spartan super soldiers as security forces.

    Let’s not forget “the last wall” protocol. In the event of Holy Terra being besieged, every single Chapter derived from Rogal Dorn, will illegally and maybe begrudgingly, but necessarily, reform as a Legion in its defence. A level of force not seen since the Horus Heresy, for good reason.

    Another well made video. Can't blame the 40K universe from being #1 in many cases in a Vrs or compared, after all it's the universe where Machines (like emperor titans) dwarfing the size of our tallest skyscrapers are not enough to defend planets sometimes. The scale of Chaos and Ork invasions see to no one forgetting how important planetary defense is.

      True, but those are pretty much built on order for certain disastrous events such as a fucking Ork attack moon teleporting above your homeworld. Once they fire their ordinance (usually like one or two rounds), they're either destroyed or taken apart or looted by the remaining Orks or whatever.

      Horus was killed and his entire Heresy annihilated in their desperation to take the planet. Also, he had half the Imperium, the same stuff (with the exception of the Emperor and Mars' lunacies) that defends Terra, so it's a different matter than if a xeno force attacked the Throneworld.
