- A lot dialog in this one comparing the 572 to it's "arch rival", the 462, in a real world application.
Not a big tree but, it had some length to it. You could see that the top took out the brush on the other side of the road at least another 120' out there.
Redwoods are world renowned for being a tall species since one, somewhere, always holds the world record for height of any living tree.
I like the 572xp is certain applications. This would be one of them.

Mr. Hotsaws 101, I have been watching your clips for quite a while now. I just felt the need to comment and let you know that I have enjoyed all of your productions. Looks like you certainly have the touch for saw improvements and getting the most scale by proper fore thought in timber lay out. Take it from an old logger, you are a joy to watch.

I finally got a 572 a couple weeks ago and the very first thing I noticed coming the 372 (which is a great saw) I noticed how smooth it is in the cut whether it’s engine design or anti vibe or both but it’s amazingly smooth to run and I’m very happy with the power.. it’ll be interesting to see when it’s fully broken in if it gains a lil more.. over all I’m very pleased with it and as usual your vids are great thanks for sharing

The 572 has a "full circle" [metal caps with nylon ( I think) inserts filling in the gaps] crank. The 372s don't. The 572 & 372 are both spring mounts so they are even there. The crank makes a noticeable difference as you have made mention of the "feel differiantial". Thanks for watching.

Jack, (if i may) I must say your videos & commentary has upped my game tree-mendously even here in mid Michigan as a old school removal tree climber. Your tips on saws & displacements, preferences, bars, souping up of saws. All of it has saved me money & also made it. Educated me where i was ignorant previously. In other words thank you! And i would love to have you Psychoize my 372xp XTorq if you think its a good candidate for such kit. In the coming summer months that is when things pick up a little better, due to covid19 anyway. So in the meantime sir... stay safe, as will i & ill also always stay teachable. Whilst watching your educationally priceless productions.

Had any issues with 572xp or 560xp cranking when its hot?
What was that little chain thing you pulled off of you belt before you started cutting? I’m guessing it to judge the lean of the tree maybe.
My plum. Exactly for "inspecting" the lean of the tree.
Is it possible to make adjustments on the carburation on those saws such as fuel mixture or have those been removed because of clean air requirements? Reason I ask is my neighbor gave me a lawnmower that is only a few years old and i noticed there are no longer any of the adjustment screws for mixture or idle speed etc on the carburator. Maybe its just a califorrnia clean air requirement but it made me wonder if its the same for all kinds of small engines. Take care & stay safe.
Maybe if you have a computer otherwise there is no way for you to manually adjust this carburetor.

Aside from endless reviews of which is Essentially better, It sounds it'd be splitting hairs, both have their application respectively. … I slightly preferer Husqvarna with some exceptions. "461. Wojo Muffler. 32" Square Ground" … 2 QUESTIONS: Does the 572 Feel Cheap for overall fit & Finish compared to the 462? … And as it seems, BC Fallers use predominately Husqvarna's … Is it 50/50 in your area?

Hey Jack, with some runtime on the 572 now, do you feel the newest generation of autotune does a good/better job of keeping it in the sweet spot?
Cameron hi. What are they on the 4th rendition mapping in the 562 now? The latest offering is much better than the 1st., and the other, previous versions from what I can tell. There was a slight carb glitch in this saw initially (seen here) - which took a little bit to sort also. Purs like a kitten now though. Thanks for watching.

madreamer The CS series Echo saws LOVE to be opened up! They are quite easy to work on as well. Very well made machines. Underrated imho!

Randyu hi. Because the maneuverability (flickability I call it) is less. Fallers rely on their G.I. Joe kung fu grip to keep the saw under control. Thanks for watching.
What kinda cutting pants you wearing?
Has a little hesitation when you jump on the throttle. Think a reflash/reset would cure it or just runtime?
Dominick Luchi I noticed my stihl ms362c-m with the electronic carb does a similar thing. I think that’s just how these fancy electric carbs work. They really don’t like to slowly throttle up. It’s kinda like an on off switch. It’s like nothing or 30% power there’s no in between. You can try to baby it down but there’s no point. They designed these saw for incredible throttle response as your mostly using it full tilt.
@@FishFind3000 it sure seems like the last 362c I used was the same, bud. My cs2260 (black and red 562xp) however does not do that? Seems odd to me. I like em all just fine though. I'm really a dolmar boy at heart
Dominick hi. So the 572 has a very similar/same physically carb as the 562. Many parts interchange. I think that the flow is so good in this saw that it takes a second for enough fuel saturated air to get in the crankcase and equalize with the amount if raw air being introduced through the strato circuit. The 562s (built) act similarly. Thanks for watching.

Are you running a stihl full wrap handle on that saw? Ive always loved the way the 572 runs, but I don’t love the husky full wrap with the weird angle where the handle wraps around.
Where’d you get the wrap handlebar? It’s shaped mole like the Stihl’s, I don’t care for the Husqvarna ones, I’d like one like this.

My son and I collaborated on these. I talked about them in some of the early 572 videos. Think in one of the bench talk videos it was looked at closely and discussed.
The 1/2 wrap 572xp as they came, 562 donor pieces on both sides, & old version 66 donor "swopp-de-do" on over the clutch.
They do have a little bit better shape for easy to maneuvering, i.e. "flick-a-bility', if a guy is in a hurry with the limbing aspect.

yep, sometimes the heat is nice. sometimes it just melts everything and soaks and then freezes your gloves... i find i use it way more in the fall/spring than in winter for that reason

I use the warmers all the time northern Wisconsin. They work awesome especially at 30 below. It is the difference between working or not.

I'm following your channel quite a long time and there's absolutly nothing to complain. I own myself a Husqvarna 572xp since 3 months now. And i agree to your opinion that it is a fantastic saw. I dont realy know if there's an issue or not (that's why i'm asking), when i fire it up, is starts very smoothly but as soon i play with the trigger to get it out of choke an it returns to idle, now comes the point where i have my doutes. Accelerating from idle to full throttle or 3/4 throttle it is like you would run a car with engaged handbrake, a relatively slow acceptance of the trigger. But as soon it is in higher rpm's you can play with the trigger without any lack of responding. Is this a normal behavior of 3 months old saw with aproximatly 6-7 gallons of gas put throuh it? Do you know advice?

What length bar ??
Dave hi. It is mentioned @ ~ 1:10 in the dialog. 110 drivers 3/8 pitch. It actually measures 33" from the end of the bar groove to the tip (just as the 32" bar measures 32" from end of the bar groove to the tip ). BUT, somehow this bar is referred to as a 34" bar. Probably the same logic that has the 91/92 driver bars ( they measure 27" from the end of the bar groove to the tip ) referred to as 28" long.

Mike Whitman you can’t go wrong with either of you want 50cc the 261 is the best 60cc is the 562xp 70cc 372 76cc 461 90cc is whatever one you like better 395 or 661 and 100cc plus the 880
Kevin Noll what ever problems I have I can fix myself and I only do muffler mods but both my shops have great people so I based this off reviews and facts and just running the saws

Heck, I'm thinking of a 461 built by Jack. The price is a grand give or take. What I'm wondering is if I buy the Husky equivalent of a 461 and had Jack build it, would there be a savings overall or is it roughly equal?
To Kevin, the Stihl shop is owned by friends and a good one but the Husky shop is also a good shop so it's a wash on that aspect.
Hey Mike, Jack has a good point about weight balance and grunt between the 462 and 572. Think about what size bar you want to run. A 24-28 would be better with the Stihl. A 32 or longer would be better with the Husky.

What kind of bar do use?

They are the most flimsy bar I know of. Also the most lightweight. Your chains had better be sharp. Especially on the bias (diagonal) cut since they have the tendency to wander if not. In certain applications they are definately the best choice.
@@hotsaws101 here in Italy usually we have Husqvarna STIHL and Oregon bars with no replaceable tip, they tends to wear out near the tip very fast so i move ti tsumura bars and they are a lot better.
Unfortunately i have to use bar with maximum lenght of 20" and i don't think Oregon produces short bars with black tip.
I mostly use my chainsaws for fire wood (about 1500 tons)
@@Giacomomarconi641 hi. Both Husqvarna and Stihl (just over the "hill" from you) make bars that are 20" and less with replacement tips. I guess it would depend on the application (mount configuration). Stihl makes the lw bar in 20" for the 12mm studs.
Unclear on which mount size/pattern you have since there was no indication of the saw/s you use.
The Tsumara bars are a great as well. I have a 16" lw version with a replaceable sprocket nose.

It went down hill a long way,,, into a stump patch. There was one shot.
The price the mill was paying the landowner was at an all time record high.
The logger paid me a premium to do my best to save every BF of the timber.
I took my saw-weet time with at the stump in an effort to not miss the lay.
In the end, all the shipable wood was realized.
We are talking well over 2k for that tree.
That's why I was taking so long.

Just out of interest whats your opinion of the husky 572... also be interested in your opinion of the Makita (Dolmar) 7900 (UK) they're nearly £300 cheaper than the 572 here.

Jason hi. Sold? I explained the what based on the why. I missed the stump that I made on the right earlier and used an older one to hold the belly up and help with the span. And, this tree stretch right on out since there was another 80 feet of it that lit up on the road. The alders ran the length of the road, so maybe the "two" I was referencing were not the "two" you were looking at considering I was the one standing there pointing.....

Sorry "Boy's and Girls" but this guy is quite green!, as in very slow and not all that experienced, it shows in the amount of times he must look at his wedge cut and the way he redoes practically every cut on every tree he fells, never would make it in our logging crews here in Santa Cruz County. In the time it takes him to fell this tree we would of had this tree down and already partially sectioned into logs so boys and girls make sure you get a good education or you will end up eating sawdust and striving to make ends meet like this poor green chap!.

So if we were to talk facts, it's called a face, or face cut to anyone that fells timber, professionally, anywhere on the West Coast of America.
The price that the mill was paying when this strip was cut was the second highest price ever in recorded history for second growth redwood.
The logger actually paid me a PREMIUM to cut this unit. It was so that I would utilize as much of the volume for the landowners since they were both older and the gentlemen was suffering from Alzeimers, I think it was. Spelling it out, health care costs were ramping up and needed to be paid.
I was in no hurry as a result.....
Additionally, there were a couple of stumps that needed to be missed as well as logs being crossed that did not need to be broken. Proper placement and timing were paramount. I think any decent faller would be able to pick up on that. If proper placement is a crime I'm a CAPITAL offender!
My saws run well and the chains cut pretty "goodly". As a result, I can take a little bit of extra care and in the end not really lose any time.
Now, awhile back I noticed you were getting berated by some of the other viewers for this kind of behavior. You then apologized - but on a different video.
There is a guy up north that would just X you off his channel from having the ability to comment. I let 99.9% of comments stand because the bulk of viewers also know that when you, a guy, someone, anyone make disparaging comments at me, any creator, they are really making themselves look bad - sorry for you there.
Also keep in mind that I was falling when PL was still harvesting a lot of old growth. Resultantly, I was Super Blessed to have felled some trees in the same size range of your " Methuselah" tree. I'll adjust a face 5700 times if I think it is necessary to achieve a certain result and utilize volume for the landowner. Actually had a faller I worked with try and get me to come down there (Santa Cruz) a few times in multiple years. But, having wee ones, that was not an option.
I fully expect that if you disagree with what I have going on, you will be an adult and exercise your right to go other places and watch some of the other offerings on YT. Since YT is, after all, a voluntary sport...
