Been sitting here for two weeks waiting for the 044. Like the title says..... Another week of waiting is all I can spare. Then I will just have to give up.
We have a question: we bought the cannon spacer since we run both stihl and husqvarna. We mainly run 24" & 28" bars. Since there is so much more ajustment in a husky bar the chains will not fit? Do you modify your stihl bars? What are we missing/doing wrong? We run 372xt 24"& 28" sugihara bars and stihl light 28" 84_91 drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We love all of your work!!
Michelle hi. You have the auger the bar groove out another 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch toward the tip. This will be dependent on the number of drivers the chain has. I run 105 for a 32" bar on both my Husky and Stihl saws. You can run 106 on a Husky but it's not a match made in Heaven for the Stihl saws. Good luck to you. Thanks for watching.
OBX Koastie The 440 is almost identical to the 460. Just a Smaller bore, gas tank, oil tank, different crank. Lots of parts interchange though. The 441 is a lot more to take off to repair it, it is totally different. I have one of each and I've taken them all down to the cases to rebuild.
Nathaniel...The local Stihl Gold mechanic who I went to for help told me if I could replace the PC in a 441 I could work on any saw Stihl ever made. They charged double the labor when a 441 walked in the door.
OXB hi I like the KISS style of engineering myself. But, I'm a simpleton..... The 441 is a bit impressive - just like most of the new Stihl saws. With the 500i coming online, it's not getting any better either. The 044/440 is a mini me of the 046/460. 044 handle bars will bolt right on a 046 as an example of their "proximity". Thanks for watching.
I'd take on three old 1128 series saws to one 1138 series saws if a serious rebuild was in order. The 441 is a nightmare once you take the air filter off. the 044 and 046 saws are a real treat to work on, and they are still adequate even today.
Dave hi. I've talked a lot about the 572 & 462 saws and their displacements. 70.57 and 72.20cc respectively. For the 044/440 it is 70.68cc. The hp for the 572 and 462 is 5.7 & 6.0 according to the factory literature. Keep in mind they run just about the same in stock trim. The early 044 was 5.1 until ~ 2000. Then it was 5.4. The 440 started ~ 01/02 and was rated ( by the factory @ 5.3) and ended up at 5.4 when production stopped ~ mid '08 as far as I can tell. Thanks for watching.
Not that big of a deal, but I noticed he used the teeth on the Huskie for leverage and on the stihl he just pushed the bar through the cut. I always use the teeth for leverage
Adam hi. Not really. I do my best to do the runs equally. I was not pushing on either handle bar or pistol grip. I was letting them feed themselves as much as possible. But, the Husky runs a little differently because of the engine design and will try to oscillate in the cut I have noticed from a lot of past experiences. It was more of a stabilizing effect than a pivotal one. Thanks for watching.
Pushing on the saw don’t gain unless you got a torque monster. You want to keep the rpms up. He’s running a big bar on those 70cc saws believe me digging the dogs in and pushing will slow your cut 🤦🏻♂️
@@patrickallred850 very good point. I have a ms650 and a 390xp that I run on any bar bigger than 25 inches. I cut a lot of dead hedge and like to run carlton chain on hedge.
My favorite saw. First thing I did wrong with mine was put a 24 inch bar on it. First thing I did right was change the carb. Wish I could tell you what I bought. 40 bucks. It was recommended by a saw shop. Changed all I thought of that saw for the first 5 years. Lol. Even rums the 24 good enough I put it back on. Good luck. Hope this cat responds.
Tim Henry my buddy and I modded his stock saw with a simple muffler mod and it opened way up. 30% more power after bypassing that catalytic muffler. Stock carb too
@GR45hi. Not sure of your elevation but, 90 octane is a little low imho. Also, there was no mention of the mix oil used. That makes a HUGE difference in the, new and improved, air leak saws. If it was the Husky mix (either the old or new formulation) not lasting doesn't surprise me. Although, it could have been some weird mechanical failure as those do happen occasionally. Thanks for watching.
Matt hi. Thinking it is on you end since I can hear the audio and no one else seems to be having issues. Maybe it's time for a system update. Thanks for "just" watching.....
Great comparison Jack!
That 440 is STRONG!

Id take the 044/ms440 10 out of 10 times over the husqvarna. I used to work on them at my job, huskys were horrible.
Wow did that husky sound sweet!
Thank you, & for watching.
Husky🥰🥰🥰👌👌👌
Very nice saws !!

Jack...Is the MS440 as much a PITA to work on as my MS441? Just curious? My son's MS460 is a piece of cake in comparison.

The 440 never had a spike into the log. The 572 did, at least twice. That is unfair .
Rick Harvey unfair because the 572 had leverage as an advantage .... pushing the saw
nice saws ! amasing power they put out
Go get um husky !!!! Nice saws both of them
Be nice to now the HP and CC of each saw. Nice vid thou. Thanks !

Old school is best school
Can a Stihl 044 bar be mounted on Husqvarna 372xp, if so how? Anyone?
Yes it can.
It’s a trade secret 🤐
Unless you know the handshake 🤝?
Cannon adapter??
@@JS-oy6nn thanks, I purchased an adapter. I believe I had to add a link or two to Stihl length chain.
Nice!!!

How much would it cost to sup up my 359 all the way?

Stihl ever ♥️
Flat file the chain pops easier on your saw
Title says 044 but its a 440, keep enjoying God's green earth
Mack hi. Check the oil cap.

@@hotsaws101 yup ok. Got confused by calling it 440. Keep posting you scientific chainsaw method where ever you are
This is 440 magnum

That’s very bad luck, I’ve serviced fleets of them trouble free for many many hours
