    Not sure if anyone else appreciates the quality of filming and editing here. Trimming the fat to save seconds of viewers time and keep the video engaging and fast paced, all of the close up and clear angles, etc. This takes a lot of time and effort to do. Most tutorials are very linear and lack luster, but you really go above and beyond.

      Thank you SO much for noticing all that you did! Your 100% correct it is extremely hard to be able to film every single shot and not have myself get in your way while I’m working but I try my absolute best to show you guys every single nut, bolt, etc, so that you guys can see exactly what I’m doing.. I also trim the videos down as much as I possibly can to make them quick and not drag on all while trying to maintain all of the information that you guys will need for the task.. I really appreciate your comment and even more impressed that you noticed it all. Thanks for watching!!

      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks buddy! Your absolutely right, the added wear and tear on front end parts has a lot to do with your FEL and the weight that you pick up with it.. all summer long I lift extremely heavy loads on my various jobs traveling all over the place across rough ground and debris before dumping the load and it def takes it’s tole on steering components with all the added weights and maneuvering. I happened to watch this video today for some reason and then went out to my Big Orange Power Tool (BX22 - your machine's original ancestor via the BX2200) and took a look at the tie rod end assemblies. Let's just say that the parts on my 1000 hour, 21 year old machine that I recently moved 115 tons of modified stone after digging out and preparing for my post frame workshop building make the 700 hour units that came off your machine look brand new. LOL They are uber worn! One of my cylinder mounts may be a little loose so I guess I'll replace them, too. So I think this repair is in my very near future and I appreciate the concise explanation you made for changing them out.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jim! Yes these little bx series are beasts for sure, I know the 2200 series very well, your correct it’s setup basically identical.. sounds like yours has done slot of work in the last 21 years.. mines a 2013 so it wasn’t nearly as bad as yours but it was def worn out as it was knocking when I turned and very sloppy .. I try not to let my parts get as bad as yours were as then it can lead to other parts wearing out. I would def replace the steering cylinder brackets while your in there, it will def help to tighten up the steering and give less slop. These brackets weren’t made strong enough IMO and I plan to design my own brackets that are stronger and beefier sometime this winter. Stay tuned and best of luck!

    Great video. Not sure why I'm watching I've only got 44 hours on my BX2680 LOL. However, its a great video and things to think about and check as a person is doing routine maintenance. Glad to hear those brackets fixed your wobbly steering issues. I guess those might be a wear item to keep in mind for replacing every few hundred hours. I was kind of worried that those brackets wore out and also wore the steering cylinder too, but glad it wasn't the case.
    Coming up on my initial 50 hour service so every fluid is getting changed in it, plus filters, and fuel filters, then going through and giving everything a shot of grease again while I'm at it. Might actually take the loader off while doing the service to make it a bit easier getting to stuff and not hitting my head on the loader arms while doing the services LOL.
    I can't believe how much time this little tractor saves me when doing even the simplest chores. I've saved probably at least the 44 hours that I've put on it in less back breaking hand work with rakes and shoves moving gravel and dirt around. Still had a lot of that going on behind my shop as the tractor wouldn't fit back there without ending up in the ditch...I can drive it back there now as I piped the ditch in, but really have no need to do so.
    Thanks for a very easy to follow repair video, you made it look extremely easy due to the way you explain what you are going to do and why. Excellent quality.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks William I appreciate the kind words about how my video was so easy to follow. Like you said even tho your only at 50 hours it’s not a bad thing at all to watch videos like these to see what items are wear items, what things wear the most and which thing you should keep an eye out for with your new bx.. knowing what can happen is half the battle and now all you have to do is keep an eye on things and not let them get as bad as I did haha 😆
      As for your 50 hour service be sure to also remove the screen filter from the trans.. it will surely be clogged full of crap, silicone/RTV and metal shavings from your pump/trans break in process plus the rtv from when your tractor was first assembled. Not enough people know to pull the screener out and they end up having issues with their trans or hydraulic pressure down the road.
      Lastly your right man the bx is just so darn useful! From smaller tasks just acting as a glorified wheel barrel to big jobs the bx is just an amazing machine to have around. I’m glad your enjoying yours as much as I enjoy mine! Thanks for supporting my channel!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BiffsEquipment I know about that filter screen in the transaxle, and planned to clean it as well, but thanks for the info on that, and you are right many people don't know about it and skip it and it causes issues for sure. A lot of this stuff I know about because of videos like yours and several others. Its great to have a place to come to learn about servicing these things, especially for someone like myself that is new to tractors.

      I used to have a kubota 2320 with the backhoe! Loved it used it for everything I mean everything!
      I had to sell needed money at the time.
      Now I have a bobcat E10, E20 and soon I’ll have a Bobcat MT100 totally psyched!
      I mostly now do just stuff here at the house and for friends in need! I absolutely love having my mini excavators they are so dang convenient for doing so much more very stable in small tight areas and also so easy to trailer! The only negative is they don’t get around far distances very fast but for me that’s just fine cause I’m slowing up myself too plus I’m no longer doing jobs under the gun!
      Have a great weekend and hopefully better weather is on the way Today is the first day of spring YES!!!!!👍
      Almost forgot I also have a BobcatS570 skid steer I use for plowing snow. Used to do with my F350 but I just love getting into my Skid! Heat radio a/c comfy seat drink holder it’s all good! It’s actually way more fun than plowing in a truck.

      A thin wrench woulda worked great in this instance.. I wasn’t thinking when I did the other side I was thinking the other side would tighten the opposite side not loosen it which had it tightened it I woulda been fine.. long as you remove one inner tie rod.. then hold it with a wrench while it’s off and crack the other side loose youll be all set with out having any special tools. I have a few skinny wrenches but none in that size. Those axle seals are prone to leaking on these machines.. I’m assuming I’ll have to fix mine soon so stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching!

    Excellent video, especially identifying the loose tie rod ends and determining the extent of the wear..... I was looking for a video like this, as my BX2670 is popping in the front end when the loader is attached, usually while turning. Hopefully this will fix the issue. Boots are completely torn open after only 300 hrs.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks David! I’m glad you found my video also and I hope it helped you! You’ll have to let me know how you made out with it. The popping is either your tie rods being loose/sloppy because the boots have ripped and the ball sockets have worn out or your steering cylinder brackets have worn out on the insides causing slop so when you turn left and right your cylinder is banging or popping side to side with in the brackets. If you replace all the parts I did in this video then you should no longer have any issues. Thanks for watching!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that’s funny! When you mean you had to replace the solinoid pack was it the pack on the aide of the valve body? Or are you taking about the go gender pressure solinoid cuz those are a huge issue with dodge transmissions so are the pressure transducers and both are located on the bottom side of the valve body.. gotta love a dodge trans! Haha (Not) but luckily with a few easy upgrades they can actually be quite a strong transmission believe it or not.. if your interested in what all I did to mine let me know and I’ll go into more detail. As for the wheel spacers they certainly do help a ton with stability, I’m glad you found the same! Hopefully your tie rods don’t need to be replaced now that I did mine (lol) when you replace your hydraulic steering line just remove both side steering brackets at the same time.. the cylinder will down right down and you’ll be able to get the lines removed easily that way. Great video!😊 You are so very smart and I enjoy watching you repairing your BX. Very good information. How many hours on your tractor? Can't wait to see your mods. I agree with Dodge pickup trucks transmissions are a piece of junk. I once had our Dodge pickup transmission catch on fire while plowing on the remote part of our runway! Yep, in the middle of a blizzard. I kicked snow at the transmission to put the fire out and had to walk home in the middle of the night. Thankfully we had just plowed a good path and could walk the 1/2 mile back to our house. Got rid of the pickup truck and bought a tractor.

      Wow Jean that’s one heck of a story! That must have been terrible to go through in the middle of a blizzard, it’s a good thing you were at least able to plow yourself an opening back home before the trans caught on fire.. Not only are dodge transmissions not very strong but dodge wiring is known to be a major issue as well and I bet the wiring on your truck had more to play with the fire than the transmission did haha. Thanks for your kind words Jean I’m glad to hear your doing well! God Bless and stay safe!

    Great video. My BX25D has both inner boots torn up. I just turned 100 hrs in 6 years. I have replacement boots. I thought you were not supposed to hammer the bottom of the of the outer tie rod bolt (where the castle nut goes). Looks like it's OK though so that makes it a bit easier. What grease goes in the boots? I have the Kubota grease I have been using everywhere, the blueish stuff, can I just load it up with that?

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Warren, I only hammered the bottom
      Of the tie rods because I had no plans to reuse them.. I replaced the entire tie rods which came with new boots.. If all your doing is replacing the boots then you will want to use a pulling tool or you can smack the knuckle Itself with a hammer and it should shock it enough to pop the outter tie rod out with out hurting it so you can replace the boots. Also when replacing the boots you can pack them with your Kubota grease.. Molly grease would work even better as it should last longer and is made for high pressure situations.. but either grease will work. Lmk how you make out!

    How many hrs. do you have on your tractor. I have an older B7100 HST with 2900 hrs. on it and my front end is Still tight.( I think!) I guess from what you said that this is a weak link on those models. It must be nice to have the power steering. Wish mine had it but mine is all Armstrong steering. I wonder if not having the power steering on mine makes the ball joints last longer. I had a question for you about your shop! I am thinking about building a 10 x 20 for my tractor. It looks like the wood floor you have holds up real well with the weight of the tractor on it. Even when you support the weight with the small foot print of the jack stands. The floor seems very strong without any deforming. Here's the question... What kind of construction would I have to have to make a floor like yours. Is it 3/4" plywood with floor joist at 12" center. You are doing some great camera work in that small space. Are you using a GoPro without wide angle? Thanks and keep em coming.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mike, my tractor has roughly 800 or so hours on it now.. most are very very hard worked hours.. I do lots of huge jobs that this machine really wasn’t designed to do so it gets overworked and overloaded quite often.. the overloading is what takes its toll on the front end parts as all the weight is upfront while steering over bumps/humps, and forcing the tiers to turn under heavy loads is what stresses out the steering so much.. with out hydraulic steering or power steering the force being put to the tie rod ends and front steering would be much less so I assume this is why yours has lasted longer.. also your machine is a larger machine to boot and the larger the machine the more it can withstand let alone your front end may be configured a bit differently. As for the shed mine is a 20x18.. I wouldn’t go any smaller than that if you can help it.. specially if your gonna have a lot of tools packed in there like I do as it gets very tight.. filming is an extremely difficult task and getting all the shots I need is even harder but i make it work. The floor is 3/4 plywood laid across 12” center 2x6’s i believe.. the floor has held up amazingly well to the weight of my tractor but has finally started to break apart in one area at the entrance of the shed.. this is happening tho because the wood was getting wet and started to loose it’s strength.. it’s not the floors fault .. the old age of the floor plus the water rotted the wood at the very end where now it’s finally starting to collapse at the end.. I have to cut out the floor in this spot and add a patch there this spring before I fall through haha. It’s not terrible but with time it’s def gonna give out eventually.. with out the wood getting wet and rotting I’m assuming it woulda lasted a decade no no problem. Hope this helps buddy!

      The paint was very thin so it shouldn’t be an issue if/once it does wear:.
