      Hey thanks Peter! I'm really glad you have enjoyed my videos so much that you watched every one of them! That means a lot. The biggest reason i make videos in the first place is because of you guys and being able to potentially help others was always my goal. As far as paint chipping yes I have had that issue in more than a few spots, maybe 3 or so spots, I picked up a small bottle of Kubota orange touch up paint.. I think they make it in grey as well for only $5 and i keep on top of it as much as i can to help protect against rust. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

    Our BX2670 had a problem with the steering cylinder brackets, too. In our case we had the loader filled with gravel, and the front wheels were sunk down into some other fresh gravel on our driveway. When we turned the steering wheel (without going forwrd or backward) the tractor tried to turn the wheels but they were sunk down somewhat and the additional weight from the full loader really kept them from moving. The cylinder pushed so hard against the brackets trying to move the wheels that they bent outward about 1/4 of an inch and the cylinder was no longer held firmly in place anymore. We limped it back to the shed and needed the dealer's help in fixing. It's a good tractor but I think we push it too hard sometimes.

      Hey thanks for the comment and telling your experience.. I would have to agree the steering cylinder brackets are a weak point on the BX.. not a perfect design by any feet. You just gonna be careful when hauling a ton of weight on the fel to make sure your tires can be free when you turn as the hydraulic steering has a ton of power.. you could easily build your own brackets that are beefier.. the factory brackets are only 3/16” I believe where I woulda liked to see them build them at least 1/4 or even 3/8” thick and build them out of hardned steel like AR-400 so that they don’t wear out easily or bend like yours did under high pressure. Some day I plan to build my own as there is nothing to them.. they are just a piece of plate steel with one large hole for the hydraulic cylinder to sit in and two 1/2” holes to mount them.. building beefier ones would be a piece of cake and would get rid of this issue.
      Ps. I have a video showing how to replace them as I already replaced them in a later video.. I show exactly what they look like and what typically wears out on them.. I will link the video below

    I had the same steering ram problem on my 2018 Bx23s Right around the 500 - 600 hr Mark. When I looked at the brackets they didn’t seem to have much wear... it seemed to be more that the brackets were slightly bent and the ram cylinder had more wear. I ended up machining a big washer on my lathe to take up the play. Rather than buy new brackets. If I remember right The washer on mine needed to be .085 thick. And I made it out of 6061 aluminum so it would be softer and wear first. It’s been working like a charm ever since. It’s also worth noting that I rent out my machine. It now has 1100hrs. People have been hard on it but not much more than what you mention has worn out.

      Awesome man thanks for your comment. This is very good to know for myself and others as well. I plan on ordering new brackets and trying them first but it’s good to know you were able to fix it with some shims you made because if new brackets doesn’t fix the issue on mine then I’ll know it’s the steering cylinder ...in which case I’ll deffinelty make my own shims as you suggested 👍🏻 Sounds like your bx gets a workout too! Glad it’s holding up very well for you!

    Hey biff I had that problem and I fixed it take off the brackets and you will see only one has a little tab on it to rest on the inlet on the cylinder if you can weld put a little spacer on that bracket to do the same and it fixed that problem haven't had that problem for quite awhile now.

      @BiffsEquipment  ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your videos. Ur a master operator and I hope to apply some of your techniques you have shown in other videos.
    Could you possibly shim the steering cylinder. I am wondering if those oem brackets actually have bent over time. If so is there a way to hold them parallel by welding a link between them, was my first thought. Now looking in the service manual there is a snap ring behind the each bracket that keeps the cylinder from moving so my only other idea is the snap rings were replaced with non oem thickness rings. Good Luck with finding the problem.
    Never worry about that engine, we wear out generators at 13000+ hours because of the gen set not that engine changing oil at 250 hrs. Most engine wear takes place during cold starts, not that it's a big deal, but I usually never run my tractor for less than .25 hrs diesel and oil are cheap

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Yes you are totally right, oil is cheap so why not just replace it on time. I use rotella 15w40 (best oil you can buy) especially for the money! That’s all I have ever run in it. That’s great to hear your getting so many hours out of your Kubota generator engines, they really are tanks, Kubota builds some of the best Diesel engines in the tractor industry. I like how you said most of engine wear happens on cold starts cuz I have been telling people the same thing for years! This is why it’s so important to run the correct viscosity oil and to allow the engine to properly warm up before working it hard as the pistons will expand faster than the cylinders causing compression loss and other issues. As for the steering bracket, they do have a snap ring behind them like you said, I believe the snap ring is either worn out or the bracket itself, I’m sure it’s a little bit of both, I thought about shimming it but it wouldn’t really be worth it IMO as the new brackets are only $15 each so for that kinda money I’m just gonna replace them and they come with new snap rings too I believe 👍🏻 thanks for your comment man! I can tell you know your stuff as well and in no time I’m sure you’ll be operating your tractor like a pro!

    Wow, I change the oil on my Wheel Horse tractors every 25 hours but they have 1500hrs each so I'm nice to them. I think it's time for a Kubota bx though. I need a loader and a little more weight.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s always good to stay ahead of your maintenance that’s for sure.. diesels can go longer inbeteeen oil changes.. typically they are every 100-400 hours depending on the machine. You’d love upgrading to a BX, it’s incredible the amount of work you can get done with one of these machines. Stay safe out there!

And that's funny i always wanted to come up with my own twin curl cylinders as well cuz as i explained in the video it really wouldn't have been that hard for Kubota to add them on.. I was hoping that with the release of EA twin curl loader that Kubota woulda changed to twin curl on their new LA340 and LA344 loaders but was very disappointed when i saw they didn't. The BX's are really good tractors. The single curl cylinder is enough for the capacity of the bucket. Yes, two would be better but like you say "it is what it is". I too would have liked to have gotten a larger tractor. Parking one of these in your driveway in my area is a little "IFEE". The city frowns on having equipment showing in a residential area. Trust me I have one or two neighbors that are real "DICKS" and would call the city to complain. I already bought those upgraded tie-rods. Now I have to remember where I put them????? Love the video keep up the great work Brother. -John

      i could never live somewhere where snobs tell me what im going to do on my own property. i live in a rural area, i do have neighbors but there is just enough distance, we all have large lawns.
      i try to keep my BX2350 stored in my garage, it will age better if it doesn't live outside. i have what i consider to be a pile of money invested in the tractor, if i can get it away with it, i will NEVER replace it.
      it has 487 hours on it, so it's quite low despite being 14 years old. i bought it used 1-1/2 years ago, it had 397 hrs at purchase time.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Donohue nice man, they are good little machines no doubt. They can easily last a lifetime if they are taken care of and like you said “stored indoors” or stored properly.. leaving them outside just allows them to fade, rust, corrode, and seize.. though it would take many years it can def happen. I use to have to keep my BX outside when I first got it and noticed my 3 point hitch hardware all slowly rusting; my exhaust manifold slowly rusting and what not.: since I now keep it well maintained, washed; and inside.. all of that rust has disappeared but would have def continued had i left it outside for much longer. I think I caught it just in time and I’m thankful my tractor is so rust free for a 2013. Sounds like you take good care of yours too 👍🏻

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn really? Are you sure it’s worn out or maybe it just came with slight play from the factory? Cuz it shouldn’t be worn out with only 40-50 hours unless you used it for 40-50 hours with zero grease in the loader.. otherwise it’s prolly just a little play which is normal but mine has quite a lot

      @@BiffsEquipment Its well greased, probably more so than I should, I didn't really notice it until after I started using my pallet forks. I might check the bolt and see if its worn, maybe its just something I didn't really notice until I started getting used to the thing then start noticing stuff like that IDK, but it seems kind of excessive for as new of a machine it is, and I haven't used it nearly as hard as you do yours.

    I had the rubber boot on the drive shaft, right on the back of the engine, that runs to the rear end, fall apart and split in 2. The less than 2 year old 2680 with 100 hours went back to the dealer, and they tried to say it was a wear item. They told me Kubota wouldn't cover it and the bill was $300 for a $3 rubber boot. I complained to them and called Kubota. I didn't pay it, and I haven't heard anything in a month.
