He won some but it was a back and forth and Bjorn refused or didn’t want to kill his own people which is why he lost at Katigate but he lived because of his charisma and the fact that he spared them.
      The Russ were a superior army in every way already which was mentioned many times. More men, better training, better gear. Bjorn lost those because he isn’t that much if at all better than Ivar when the tactics are equal(which I believe if not Bjorn bring slightly superior) everything else decides. Whiny bitch is a little much but ok. Next Bjorn died from a sneak attack from Ivar which isn’t great planning(Ivar died the same way)and doesn’t take away from the fact that Bjorn really didn’t want to kill Ivar at any point. You can say that is a tactical error sure but someone being compassionate doesn’t make them dumber than someone whose ruthless they just have an exploitable weakness.
      Bjorn beat back the Russ as their strongest when they couldn’t lose. How? He united everyone under his banner which no one else could do due to his compassion. If not for that the Russ would’ve conquered Norway then and there.
      With everything against them they beat the Russ due to Bjorn knowing how they would approach and trapping them. He and Ivar went back and forth constantly it was never Ivar being an overwhelming genius. Just Bjorn “having the body of a man and will of a little girl”

    Also they are likely 15 years younger than Bjorn, was he expecting Ivar to go to war when he was like 4?!
    Also Hvitserk was a really good fighter.

      Why did hirst even create this stupid rivalry? historically ivar was respected and got along with his brothers. They came to him for tactical advice. Should’ve just kept the conflict exclusively between him and Sigurd if they wanted to keep that part.

    To be completely fair though, Ivar was hella smart and even Ragnar could see that, hence him telling him that he thought unlike anyone else and should use his anger/be ruthless. AND, had Ivar been able to use his legs normally like everyone else, with the fighting skills he had considering the cards he was dealt in life, he most likely in my opinion would have been and absolute BEAST, bigger than the beast he already was..

    The real Ivar turned out to be one of the greatest. Legend has it that he got the nickname boneless because he couldn’t get an erection. Not because his legs were deformed. He was a fierce warrior and a genius on the battlefield

    • @leilameow9582
      @leilameow9582 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The most accepted theory is that he was so quick and agile In battle as if he had no bones hence the name boneless, another theory is that he was actually ivar the hated and benlausi was mistranslated. The erection thing doesn’t really add up because he had several sons in Dublin.
