Crazy that you guys referenced 2015 and 2006. In both cases there were lots of center snares and members of other world class drumlines coming together to make a new solid drumline. Thanks for reviewing this. Fun to relive the memories!
No video will ever do this line justice. The power they played with and sound they produced was otherworldly. Thankful to have experienced them & PR in the lot on finals night. Appreciate the nostalgia as always, boys.
2006 was a pretty dank year for drum corps in general. I’d love to hear y’alls take on both Phantom and Cavs from that season. I completely agree about the dome-shows, btw. 2008 was the last real old-school DCI finals. I’m not going to act like I didn’t appreciate the air conditioning…but it just doesn’t have the same sound or energy.
I’m old and BD 86 is my favorite line and I’m biased because Steve Campbell center snare was my high school drum instructor and YES WE WON EVERYWHERE WE WENT 😎😎😎🥁🥁🥁🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The 2006 BD Drumline finals videos were the videos that introduced me to drum corps. Still convinced this is the best snare line and tenor line BD has ever had.
I was just thinking this yesterday, I'm marched in 06 and I've seen all of these shows multiple times. But damn near 20 years later I'm looking at these shows again and it's really hitting me that 2006 was a very stacked year
thanks to that Blue Smoke documentary clip on YT, I can't hear that opening lick without hearing ScoJo's commentary "watch that last diddle" "get on it Willie" - and also Tim Jackson's disappointed head shake when they blow a buzz attack legendary stuff
06 was my last year marching Div 1 and it was a great year for drum corps- Camp Randall was packed and totally electric at finals (I miss outdoor band), and the top 12 was stuffed with fun shows and great percussion sections. I remember at the time thinking that BD 06 was the best, most cohesive design they'd had since '01, and they had a VERY good battery in 06 (Tim's last year dominating Tenor I&E, etc). The level of battery talent in 06-08, across the board, was just out of control. I sure do miss that era of drum corps!
John McClean was in the 06 and 07 line and he talked about the differences between the lines when he was my instructor. You guys should get him on sometime
I remember watching these guys live. They had such a strong and powerful sound. This is one of my favorite drum corps shows. I understand why it didn't score as high as the artsy fartsy bullsh*t shows... but this entire corps was so badass, and the drumline was so good. Also... I believe they used Remo heads this year? I remember it was the first year the quads went to pinstripe heads from suede in the early 00s... and the tone resonated so good. Also... this cross drill is so much cleaner than Star of Indiana's.
Interesting Tid Bits from 2006. That year, there were 2 perc judges. Of course, Prosperie is on the field, and Pipitone is upstairs. The drum title placement for finals was 1st to 5th....PR, BD, Bloo, Cavies, Cadets.
Man all the attacks are like gun fire 🔫🔥

Machine gun sound at 3:34 and 3:44
Mr.Spock says: Clean it up gentlemen but overall: Fascinating!

Agreed. Very powerful and strong line.
2006! The year I came into this world! 💚💚
Jeff Prosperie is definitely one of the best judges for percussion period! Great comments Great style Great guy! Hats 🎩 off to Jeff! 😎🥁🤘🏻👏🏻🔥
The Blue Smoke DVD from 2006 absolutely blew my mind as a Freshman in highschool. This alone made me practice so much more.

Ughh, the end gets me every time. This was my first Year discovering DCI in High School. Absolutely love it.
The 09' Judge tape is even more insane. Definitely should cover that if you haven't. Legit almost cried listening to it. Clean is an understatement.

The crosses remind me of Star of Indiana 1991!
I remember every drummer going crazy about the blue rims!!!!

Some bangers!
Give 'em the heat! - Casey Brohard...and someone off camera

legendary stuff
Was hoping you guys would cover this one! 🙌 Thanks for bringing back the memories, glad to hear your side of the story! 💙
This channel is my morning coffee. ☕️
Also the camera flash on the shot at 6:51 is hilarious
Haha clean attack on that flash!
an all time great timpani book

Yea, I wish we would go back to the P1 and P2 nightly average for percussion.
@@agedoutpodcast same here. And have P1 go on the field again.
What headphones do you guys use? Do they sound really good for listening to instrumental/loud drum sounds?
Can’t remember the exact brand I have as they aren’t a ‘major’ brand. But honestly any earmuff style with good bass will work really well.
Drum go boom!
Before the video starts what's the over/under on Jeff's "mysterioso" and "quality" adjectives?
hell yea, the '06 book is really damn good, quads especially. my fav from bd.
My ears? No. My hands were insulted by the unison singles.
ah man, bring back mid-aughts sound quality!
For the algorithm. ✊
Evan....when did you graduate?! But '06 BD was a great show!
Graduated high school in 07.
You guys ever do any NFL Drumline reacts??
Completely unnecessary hot take: Goodfellas is way better than any of the Godfathers
