He has more souls than any one person should have and sold his soul to the devil. One of the other souls he sold to the devil for a pen and scammed the Devil into letting him go back to earth for another 50 years. He's so powerful that the strongest person on the team, Heavy is slightly afraid of him and is also extremely respectful and best friends with him. Medic is so strong that he can lift another man up by his shirt that is roughly the same size as him. He killed a Mugger in an Alleyway and stuffed said Muggers brain into a pumpkin on Halloween and said brain was *Still Alive*. Long story short, don't Fuck with the Medic if you value your life.

@@ChocolateKieran The overall community is wacky thanks to the characters, charm, cosmetics, taunts, voice commands (even secret situational ones like saying "Spy" while putting the crosshair on someone), secret jokes including doing the demoman drinking taunt and swinging the melee within a few seconds after taunting to make the demo do drunk slurred speech (and yes you can do it with a piece of ham or frying pan in hand while bashing it into people and objects.). Also the comics are fantastic and silly, and were developed while introducing things in updates, so it's canon. Not to mention events mainly in the past or yearly, like Halloween's Merasmus the Magician and including both Ghost Fort and Carnival of Carnage, the Horseless Headless Horsemann, Bominomicon (who cursed Demoman's eye), and Eyeaduct where Demoman's haunted eye called Monoculous shows up. And to top it off there's weird gamemodes like Passtime and Mannpower, and if all of the stuff in the vanilla game isn't enough for you, there's even community gamemodes on certain servers, including but not limited to: Slender Fortress (content varies with servers), Freak Fortress (available bosses, maps and sometimes game rules vary with server), TF2Ware (maps vary a bit), Dodgeball but homing rockets, Trade Servers (often casual servers with minecraft maps or other maps of varying kinds and varying amounts of detail), Fortwars (not sure if you'll find a active server with this but it's very good and has great potential), Zombie Fortress (varies quite a bit), silly custom map servers with a variety of maps that could even include a Ocarina of Time map, and i kid you not, it is astounding the amount of detail and the secrets that were brought in from the game, you could spend many hours exploring the map and it's almost 1:1 with the game. It's incredible the content to be gained from TF2, and despite the bot invasions and dwindled dev team (to the point of there being more than a year of nothing at all), the community has stood so strong against these hardships and persevered, and for good reason, the game is truly one of the most likely games to stand the test of time and it's all because of the character, charm, details, options and community. And if you don't want to sink potentially years of time into TF2, then perhaps the old TF2 videos of Jerma and Star_ could work well, like Jerma's Fat Engineer one and the classic: Extreme Rancho Relaxo.
8:38 Torbjorn was quite literally based off the Engineer, TF2 was the basis for overwatch/paladins/etc. A lot of mechanics were borrowed for different characters, widowmaker charges when she is scoped in, so does the sniper. Even if you don't play TF2 the game deserves infinite respect because it was the basis of a lot of modern day mechanics and ideas in different games. @@vbgvbg1133 not quite. the threewave ctf mod for quakeworld was the pioneer there, and where quake team fortress (the *original* team fortress, before team fortress classic) took it from. tf2 came out a whole eleven years after threewave. that's why unreal tournament and halo and stuff all had ctf by 2001. threewave is also why so many fps games (including widowmaker in OW) have grappling hooks for no clear reason; actually, widowmaker might specifically be a callback to the quake 2 version of threewave, which had grappling hooks and the railgun (which worked like a sniper rifle). most tf2 weapons (and, by extension, stuff in overwatch) are also variants of quake weapons, as are a lot of the weird mechanics that come with them basically, nothing new has happened in video games since 2005

If he ever tries to replace his left eye with something like a glass eye, it would make a second Monoculus Pyro actually does see that, regardless of the goggles. In the comics, it's shown that the team disbands and Pyro becomes CEO of a company that becomes the richest on the planet, but it's boring to him because he physically needs fire to be happy, as he sees it as rainbows. Otherwise, the world is gray and meaningless through his eyes.
It was tragic how Rick May (Soldier VA) died, but it was more than just Covid. He was also 79 and being rehabilitated from a stroke for a few months before he caught it; the combination of these factors did him in.

Heavy is actually a nice person... Relatively to the other characters. He has a PhD in Russian literature, and is overall the nicest of the mercenaries.

There's kinda a story behind the Sniper's bobblehead, it's specifically a bobblehead of the cut "civilian" class. The idea was sometimes you'd need to escort an actual player somewhere.

A clarification: Soldier is insane. As in "completely off his rocker". He doesn't believe in the existence of Scotland or Australia, and up to a little while earlier he thought Heavy was american. The only one crazier than him is Pyro. Oh, and if you count the official comics as canon, he's also Heavy's brother in law.
TF2 is without a doubt and by a large margin the fastest shooter I've ever played, which raises the skill needed to play an master it a good bit. I don't know how anyone can play sniper, I'm so impressed by anyone who gets the "be efficient" achievement.
Finally, my time has come for my TF2 lore knowledge, Demoman lost his eye to an evil wizard when he was a kid, Scout's name is Jeremy, the name was chosen by the Voice Actor, and he was named after the one and only Jerma985, Spy is canonically Scout's Dad, Medic and Heavy are besties, Ive seen people say its because Medic can outsmart bullets by healing, but in general I'd definitely check out the official tf2 comics if you're interested in the character interactions and lore, sadly they haven't updated since I think 2019? Or maybe it was 2017, either way we can still hold out hope :)
Demoman lost his eye when Merasmus (evil halloween wizard) hired him to mop the floors of his library, but told him he could look at any badge or book EXCEPT for the Bombinomicon (book badge that makes your corpse explode when you die, also the Book Of Bombs), but then he looked at the Bombinomicon and his eye was cursed, Medic had tried to heal his eye 17 times and was successful, but each Halloween his eye would pop out and shoot rockets and kill everyone, so he never healed it again. Demoman doesnt remember Medic could heal his eye because Medic cut out the part of his brain that remembers those instances.
Also the wizard is soldiers roommate and now are sworn enemies due to a prank by soldier, and a buff Australian named Saxton Hale owns the company where the red, the real people fight the clones of them and their team, as the asmistrator makes them fight like a host along with the second in command and Scout's Cruz Mrs Pauling, giving the mercenaries tasks to complete, where you can buy to get with rewards. Demo man's haunted sword called the eylander begs him to decapitate the enemy team. Grey Mann, a person who wants the australium, a gold-like metal that can make a person young again from Saxton Hale and Mercado, creating robot versions of the mercenaries witch is also a game mode. Also medical went to hell and scout+sniper went to heaven. There are comics where it's the full lore. Just more facts of tf2
Fun lore fact: Demoman's eye actually wasn't lost in a debris incident, but rather because when he was a kid he went housecleaning for a wizard as a job and had his eye socket cursed by an evil book. The Medic said that he tried to surgically fix it multiple times, but every Halloween the new eye would become a deadly monster, so he eventually surgically removed the part of Demoman's brain that wanted his eye fixed.
He also had extraordinary luck for his remaining eye. In the comics his mother said that his father, and herself (and the rest of the family I think (don't quote me on that, its been a while since I've read them)) didn't have both eyes so late in their demo careers.

Medic is way different from Mercy. They do both heal, but Medic can be defined as a psychopath. One quote he says is “Ze healing is not as rewarding as ze hurting” He also has a cosmetic called the “Second Opinion” which kinda brings a Two-Face reference where he’s basically even more insane. Quote: “I am of two minds about this. Both are… pretty good with it.” Medic is basically an insane doctor and he even tricked the devil himself.
There are also the "Meet the Medic Outtakes" of the very first version of Meet the Medic which got scrapped except for one single scene (the one with the doves), which is on YT both in the original version with preliminary voicework and a version which Robin Atkin Downes, the Medic's English VA, himself dubbed over with the original text but in Medic voice. The first version was supposed to be in interview style like the previous Meet the Team trailers, but the creative team realized (according to their blog post from 2011) that showing the Medic inventing the medigun was boring... what everyone wanted to see was the first time the iconic Übercharge was used. So they completely rewrote the entire script and animated a new trailer. Sadly, one awesome line by Medic from that first version got lost due to this: "I can take men to the peak and health... and beyond! I CAN MAKE GODS!" ... which explains a lot about the Medic's view of his craft, and why he implants organs from weird creatures from the TF2 Earth (like Mega-Baboons, and Yetis) into his text subjects/friends. He says it in the comics, too... he aims to _improve_ people. The TF2 mercs appreciated it. The Team Fortress Classic mercs didnt... which didnt go well for them. Pissing Medic off is not a smart move. (Also, he stole their souls. While they were still alive.)
I feel like he was talking more in terms of skillsets. In which case, the differences are: - Medic has a rapid-fire syringe gun, different Ubercharge power-ups (depending on the medigun), and a barrier (in Mann vs Machine). - Mercy has a pistol, attack-boosting, gliding (plus targeted flight), and an all-around self-buff. Speaking of interactions, surprised no one has mentioned the insanely funny domination lines in game between the classes, the banter makes OW look like a badly written children's cartoon in comparison. My personal favourite being when spy kills scout and cheerfully says "Well! Off to see your mother!". Never fails to make me crease up. This game and Counterstrike have directly influenced a massive portion of all modern games, it's crazy.
Demo has pure alcohol for blood and the Engy has 12 Ph.D’s in electronics, engineering and metallurgy. And the demo lost to his eye due to Soldier’s former roommate, Mersasmus the Wizard. Same eye becomes a Halloween villain that can be shot at.
Honestly, it blows my mind to think that there are people who haven't seen these videos; to me, they're just straight up part of internet culture. TF2's community has a whole ecosystem's worth of content, and someone having not scene that is fascinating to me.
medic's mediguns in some way influenced some of overwatch's mechanics in some way the medigun as a whole is as you mentioned, the basis for mercy a different medigun you can get, called the kritzkrieg, (which gives the target full crits for a short time instead of invincibility) could have been the basis for mercy's damage stream, or ana's nano boost

"Meet the team" is the official playlist. "Meet them all" is all of them edited into a single video, but the video uses the character select order instead of playing them in order of release. The grand finale ends up being one of the first shown. For that reason I generally recommend the official playlist.

TF2 living longer than most games these days that even got released after it, is the reason why we still get to see people get recommended, introduced, and react to this Ancient but still a Precious 15 Year Old Game that most people in the community still cares about and are currently keeping it alive when its creator is slowly starving it to death without constant or major updates and fixes. Since you had a lot of questions throughout, here’s some answers (plus some interesting trivia) The Heavy actually isn’t that dumb, and is in fact one of the smarter mercenaries. He doesn’t have the greatest grasp on the English language and REALLY likes guns, but he also escaped from the gulag with his family and moved to America to provide for them. He has a PHD in Russian literature. The Soldier is dumb, but more than you think. The game takes place around the late 60’s to early 70’s, so he was a soldier serving in World War II, but he was never actually enlisted. He just flew out to Europe and went on a killing spree years after the war ended. The Demoman actually lost his eye due to a curse from a wizard named Merasmus, who is a boss in the Halloween game mode. When using the Eyelander, a mythical sword and melee weapon in game, his eyepatch glows. The Scout is from Boston, not New York, and yes, he uses a bat as a weapon. He also can use a roll of Christmas wrapping paper, and one of his guns allows him to shove people which is almost useless. The Sniper is from New Zealand, but in the canon of TF2, New Zealand… sank. The entire country sank into the ocean. So he was sent by his parents to Australia where he was raised. Also, the jar of pee can extinguish flaming teammates! Yay… The Engineer actually has a class specific taunt where he plays guitar, based off of the scene in the trailer. He has very few unusual weapons compared to other classes, however he is probably the only good person in the entire game, which says a lot. The Spy’s disguise kit has every class on either team at his disposal, so not only can he pose as an enemy, but also a friend of another class. He also has an invisibility watch and is the Scout’s father. Now we understand the photos weren’t staged. The Medic is… crazy. Probably more so than the Soldier. He doesn’t care about his colleagues, thinking of them as test subjects, and surgically implanted all 8 of their souls into himself to trick the devil into giving him extra chances at life. 10000x more interesting character than Mercy. The Pyro isn’t actually crazy, more so morally ambiguous. The Pyro’s goggles filter the entire world to look exactly that way, there’s a cosmetic in game which turns the world into what is shown in the video. The Pyro can kill people with a taunt of himself farting into a lit match, and one of his melee weapons are just a mailbox that he took from the ground. Now, there’s a lot of really weird lore in this game, so here’s a bit of interesting bits. The in game store is called the Mann Co. Store, named after the Mann family which is prevalent in the comics. The CEO is Saxton Hale, an incredibly buff Australian man who punched the Yeti species into extinction and can probably take 1500 rockets to the face and feel no pain. Finally, some more weird weapons. There’s the Ham Shank, a piece of ham that you slap people with, and the Frying Pan. It makes a funny loud noise and crits a lot. You can get a golden frying pan for like 1,000 dollars and it turns people into gold. I’m surprised if you read this long.

Something the trailers don't tell you about is how each character has a taunt, a unique animation for each weapon slot, as well as a special "Kill Taunt" that will instant kill any enemy hit with it. Soldier juggling grenades in Meet the Scout is just his secondary taunt, but he will also pull them off his chest to blow himself up and kill anyone else close to him.
Fun Fact! The Scout is named Jeremy, after Jerma985. Also, another fun fact, the reason there is a spy head in the fridge at 22:51 is because it is a reference to a work in progress version of meet the medic, where we figure out how the medic can heal his team mates via the medigun.
Since it didn't look like anyone explained it, Demoman lost his eye when he was a child, He got a job cleaning the castle of a Wizard named Merasmus, and gazed into a forbidden cursed book known as the Bombinomicon, the book stole his eye and turned it into a floating eyeball monster named Monoculus. Yes this is all canon lore. Every halloween, halloween maps get added to the game and some of them have halloween bossfights, Mermasmus serves as both a boss on some of the maps, and the "announcer" for the match on some of the others, Monoculus also appears on some maps as a boss. Both Merasmus and the Bombinomicon are voiced in game by Nolan North. If you want to know more about the lore of the series, i'd heavily recommend either reading the official comics, or reacting to a dub of the comics. There are playlists out there with an order. And finally, there are other official TF2 trailers, specifically Mann Vs Machine, Mann Vs Machine: The Sound of Medicine, Jungle Inferno, and Expiration Date. Outside of that, if you want a very funny series that also is extremely informational on the game itself, i heavily recommend looking at the "How it feels to play (TF2 class name here)" Series by Lazypurple. A playlist in the correct order for that series also exists on his channel.
Demomans eye was healed 17 times before by Medic too, but each time the next Halloween his eye would pop out and become the Monoculous, Demoman doesnt remember medic can heal his eye because medic cut that part of his brain out so demo wouldnt ask him more

To put it perspective. Jarate or also known as a jar of piss is a throwable weapon. Meaning when you throw the Jarate at the opponent, the Jarate deals critical damage to the opponent under the effects of Jarate. It can be used to distinguish allies who are on fire. Sandvich allows your heavy to heal faster and it has a cool down if you use it. You can use the Sandvich to heal your teammates if you don't have a medic. Scout has the ability to double jump in the game, and he can be invulnerable in seconds by using bonk, which is a consumable item in a form of a soda drink. But the drawback is that you can't use your weapon under the effects of Bonk. But their is an item as well which looked like bonk, but this time this bonk can give you critical damage. Medic allows him to heal his teammates in the battlefield using his medigun. His medigun allows him and his teammate to become invulnerable within seconds. But their is a weapon that allows his teammates to deal critical damage. Demoman can use his sticky bomb launcher to sticky jump or use it as his traps. You can also do Demo knight to kill opponents using his melee weapon.
The jarate is known as jar based karate. Where after taking pills it'll grow the size of your kidneys to an extremely high level. Saxton hale invented it and such

Man, I remember when that showed up in my subbox in 2014, and I was so concerned they were gonna shut the game down or something. Here we are, 9 years later, Overwatch, which didn't come out for another 2 years after that, has come and gone, and the game is still going and recently hit an all-time concurrent player peak.

Overwatch and tf2’s characters are pretty similar. For example, demoman and junkrat are both insane explosives lovers (demo isnt really insane hes just drunk)
Since you mentioned it, there actually is a Team Fortress 1, two of them technically. The original Team Fortress was a Quake mod from the mid 90's that got so popular a standalone game was made of it, "Team Fortress Classic". Both were a lot of fun back in their day, but TF2 was given a lot more comedic tone and is a lot crazier to play in the good way. (ps, the Soldier being able to do a Rocketjump is a reference to the original Quake mod)

i'm kinda late but one of the greatest things in tf2, and also in these trailer's was the attention to detail. for example in meet the scout when he says: "i hurt people". he touches the camera glass and it leaves a smudge on the camera for the rest of the video lol.

@@ChocolateKieran The overall community is wacky thanks to the characters, charm, cosmetics, taunts, voice commands (even secret situational ones like saying "Spy" while putting the crosshair on someone), secret jokes including doing the demoman drinking taunt and swinging the melee within a few seconds after taunting to make the demo do drunk slurred speech (and yes you can do it with a piece of ham or frying pan in hand while bashing it into people and objects.).
Also the comics are fantastic and silly, and were developed while introducing things in updates, so it's canon.
Not to mention events mainly in the past or yearly, like Halloween's Merasmus the Magician and including both Ghost Fort and Carnival of Carnage, the Horseless Headless Horsemann, Bominomicon (who cursed Demoman's eye), and Eyeaduct where Demoman's haunted eye called Monoculous shows up.
And to top it off there's weird gamemodes like Passtime and Mannpower, and if all of the stuff in the vanilla game isn't enough for you, there's even community gamemodes on certain servers, including but not limited to: Slender Fortress (content varies with servers), Freak Fortress (available bosses, maps and sometimes game rules vary with server), TF2Ware (maps vary a bit), Dodgeball but homing rockets, Trade Servers (often casual servers with minecraft maps or other maps of varying kinds and varying amounts of detail), Fortwars (not sure if you'll find a active server with this but it's very good and has great potential), Zombie Fortress (varies quite a bit), silly custom map servers with a variety of maps that could even include a Ocarina of Time map, and i kid you not, it is astounding the amount of detail and the secrets that were brought in from the game, you could spend many hours exploring the map and it's almost 1:1 with the game.
It's incredible the content to be gained from TF2, and despite the bot invasions and dwindled dev team (to the point of there being more than a year of nothing at all), the community has stood so strong against these hardships and persevered, and for good reason, the game is truly one of the most likely games to stand the test of time and it's all because of the character, charm, details, options and community.
And if you don't want to sink potentially years of time into TF2, then perhaps the old TF2 videos of Jerma and Star_ could work well, like Jerma's Fat Engineer one and the classic: Extreme Rancho Relaxo.
8:38 Torbjorn was quite literally based off the Engineer, TF2 was the basis for overwatch/paladins/etc. A lot of mechanics were borrowed for different characters, widowmaker charges when she is scoped in, so does the sniper. Even if you don't play TF2 the game deserves infinite respect because it was the basis of a lot of modern day mechanics and ideas in different games. Even the idea of the team shooter with the different characters which is used by hundreds of games today, it all dates back to Valve and TF2

@@vbgvbg1133 not quite. the threewave ctf mod for quakeworld was the pioneer there, and where quake team fortress (the *original* team fortress, before team fortress classic) took it from. tf2 came out a whole eleven years after threewave. that's why unreal tournament and halo and stuff all had ctf by 2001. threewave is also why so many fps games (including widowmaker in OW) have grappling hooks for no clear reason; actually, widowmaker might specifically be a callback to the quake 2 version of threewave, which had grappling hooks and the railgun (which worked like a sniper rifle). most tf2 weapons (and, by extension, stuff in overwatch) are also variants of quake weapons, as are a lot of the weird mechanics that come with them

Demoman, as a kid, found an ancient book called the Bombinomicon, and when he fucked around with it, it magically ripped out his left eye, which became a huge floating monster called Monoculus. If he ever tries to replace his left eye with something like a glass eye, it would make a second Monoculus
Pyro actually does see that, regardless of the goggles. In the comics, it's shown that the team disbands and Pyro becomes CEO of a company that becomes the richest on the planet, but it's boring to him because he physically needs fire to be happy, as he sees it as rainbows. Otherwise, the world is gray and meaningless through his eyes.

Not only is TF2 very silly and iconic, but unironically, one of the highest skill ceiling FPS games around, it's definitely worth a play!

Demoman lost his eye when Merasmus (evil halloween wizard) hired him to mop the floors of his library, but told him he could look at any badge or book EXCEPT for the Bombinomicon (book badge that makes your corpse explode when you die, also the Book Of Bombs), but then he looked at the Bombinomicon and his eye was cursed, Medic had tried to heal his eye 17 times and was successful, but each Halloween his eye would pop out and shoot rockets and kill everyone, so he never healed it again. Demoman doesnt remember Medic could heal his eye because Medic cut out the part of his brain that remembers those instances.
Also the wizard is soldiers roommate and now are sworn enemies due to a prank by soldier, and a buff Australian named Saxton Hale owns the company where the red, the real people fight the clones of them and their team, as the asmistrator makes them fight like a host along with the second in command and Scout's Cruz Mrs Pauling, giving the mercenaries tasks to complete, where you can buy to get with rewards. Demo man's haunted sword called the eylander begs him to decapitate the enemy team. Grey Mann, a person who wants the australium, a gold-like metal that can make a person young again from Saxton Hale and Mercado, creating robot versions of the mercenaries witch is also a game mode. Also medical went to hell and scout+sniper went to heaven. There are comics where it's the full lore. Just more facts of tf2

Fun lore fact: Demoman's eye actually wasn't lost in a debris incident, but rather because when he was a kid he went housecleaning for a wizard as a job and had his eye socket cursed by an evil book. The Medic said that he tried to surgically fix it multiple times, but every Halloween the new eye would become a deadly monster, so he eventually surgically removed the part of Demoman's brain that wanted his eye fixed.

Medic is way different from Mercy. They do both heal, but Medic can be defined as a psychopath. One quote he says is “Ze healing is not as rewarding as ze hurting”
He also has a cosmetic called the “Second Opinion” which kinda brings a Two-Face reference where he’s basically even more insane. Quote: “I am of two minds about this. Both are… pretty good with it.”
Medic is basically an insane doctor and he even tricked the devil himself.
There are also the "Meet the Medic Outtakes" of the very first version of Meet the Medic which got scrapped except for one single scene (the one with the doves), which is on YT both in the original version with preliminary voicework and a version which Robin Atkin Downes, the Medic's English VA, himself dubbed over with the original text but in Medic voice.
The first version was supposed to be in interview style like the previous Meet the Team trailers, but the creative team realized (according to their blog post from 2011) that showing the Medic inventing the medigun was boring... what everyone wanted to see was the first time the iconic Übercharge was used. So they completely rewrote the entire script and animated a new trailer.
Sadly, one awesome line by Medic from that first version got lost due to this: "I can take men to the peak and health... and beyond! I CAN MAKE GODS!"
... which explains a lot about the Medic's view of his craft, and why he implants organs from weird creatures from the TF2 Earth (like Mega-Baboons, and Yetis) into his text subjects/friends. He says it in the comics, too... he aims to _improve_ people. The TF2 mercs appreciated it. The Team Fortress Classic mercs didnt... which didnt go well for them. Pissing Medic off is not a smart move. (Also, he stole their souls. While they were still alive.)

TF2 living longer than most games these days that even got released after it, is the reason why we still get to see people get recommended, introduced, and react to this Ancient but still a Precious 15 Year Old Game that most people in the community still cares about and are currently keeping it alive when its creator is slowly starving it to death without constant or major updates and fixes. Since you had a lot of questions throughout, here’s some answers (plus some interesting trivia)
The Heavy actually isn’t that dumb, and is in fact one of the smarter mercenaries. He doesn’t have the greatest grasp on the English language and REALLY likes guns, but he also escaped from the gulag with his family and moved to America to provide for them. He has a PHD in Russian literature.
The Soldier is dumb, but more than you think. The game takes place around the late 60’s to early 70’s, so he was a soldier serving in World War II, but he was never actually enlisted. He just flew out to Europe and went on a killing spree years after the war ended.
The Demoman actually lost his eye due to a curse from a wizard named Merasmus, who is a boss in the Halloween game mode. When using the Eyelander, a mythical sword and melee weapon in game, his eyepatch glows.
The Scout is from Boston, not New York, and yes, he uses a bat as a weapon. He also can use a roll of Christmas wrapping paper, and one of his guns allows him to shove people which is almost useless.
The Sniper is from New Zealand, but in the canon of TF2, New Zealand… sank. The entire country sank into the ocean. So he was sent by his parents to Australia where he was raised. Also, the jar of pee can extinguish flaming teammates! Yay…
The Engineer actually has a class specific taunt where he plays guitar, based off of the scene in the trailer. He has very few unusual weapons compared to other classes, however he is probably the only good person in the entire game, which says a lot.
The Spy’s disguise kit has every class on either team at his disposal, so not only can he pose as an enemy, but also a friend of another class. He also has an invisibility watch and is the Scout’s father. Now we understand the photos weren’t staged.
The Medic is… crazy. Probably more so than the Soldier. He doesn’t care about his colleagues, thinking of them as test subjects, and surgically implanted all 8 of their souls into himself to trick the devil into giving him extra chances at life. 10000x more interesting character than Mercy.
The Pyro isn’t actually crazy, more so morally ambiguous. The Pyro’s goggles filter the entire world to look exactly that way, there’s a cosmetic in game which turns the world into what is shown in the video. The Pyro can kill people with a taunt of himself farting into a lit match, and one of his melee weapons are just a mailbox that he took from the ground.
Now, there’s a lot of really weird lore in this game, so here’s a bit of interesting bits. The in game store is called the Mann Co. Store, named after the Mann family which is prevalent in the comics. The CEO is Saxton Hale, an incredibly buff Australian man who punched the Yeti species into extinction and can probably take 1500 rockets to the face and feel no pain. Finally, some more weird weapons. There’s the Ham Shank, a piece of ham that you slap people with, and the Frying Pan. It makes a funny loud noise and crits a lot. You can get a golden frying pan for like 1,000 dollars and it turns people into gold.

The demoman’s missing eye is canonically haunted which is why the medic can’t just heal it
Something the trailers don't tell you about is how each character has a taunt, a unique animation for each weapon slot, as well as a special "Kill Taunt" that will instant kill any enemy hit with it. Soldier juggling grenades in Meet the Scout is just his secondary taunt, but he will also pull them off his chest to blow himself up and kill anyone else close to him.
Do note that instakill taunt for Soldier requires the Escape Plan or Equalizer

Since it didn't look like anyone explained it, Demoman lost his eye when he was a child, He got a job cleaning the castle of a Wizard named Merasmus, and gazed into a forbidden cursed book known as the Bombinomicon, the book stole his eye and turned it into a floating eyeball monster named Monoculus. Yes this is all canon lore.
Every halloween, halloween maps get added to the game and some of them have halloween bossfights, Mermasmus serves as both a boss on some of the maps, and the "announcer" for the match on some of the others, Monoculus also appears on some maps as a boss. Both Merasmus and the Bombinomicon are voiced in game by Nolan North.
If you want to know more about the lore of the series, i'd heavily recommend either reading the official comics, or reacting to a dub of the comics. There are playlists out there with an order.
And finally, there are other official TF2 trailers, specifically Mann Vs Machine, Mann Vs Machine: The Sound of Medicine, Jungle Inferno, and Expiration Date.
Outside of that, if you want a very funny series that also is extremely informational on the game itself, i heavily recommend looking at the "How it feels to play (TF2 class name here)" Series by Lazypurple. A playlist in the correct order for that series also exists on his channel.

To put it perspective.
Jarate or also known as a jar of piss is a throwable weapon. Meaning when you throw the Jarate at the opponent, the Jarate deals critical damage to the opponent under the effects of Jarate. It can be used to distinguish allies who are on fire.
Sandvich allows your heavy to heal faster and it has a cool down if you use it. You can use the Sandvich to heal your teammates if you don't have a medic.
Scout has the ability to double jump in the game, and he can be invulnerable in seconds by using bonk, which is a consumable item in a form of a soda drink. But the drawback is that you can't use your weapon under the effects of Bonk.
But their is an item as well which looked like bonk, but this time this bonk can give you critical damage.
Medic allows him to heal his teammates in the battlefield using his medigun. His medigun allows him and his teammate to become invulnerable within seconds. But their is a weapon that allows his teammates to deal critical damage.
Demoman can use his sticky bomb launcher to sticky jump or use it as his traps. You can also do Demo knight to kill opponents using his melee weapon.
You forgot about Soldier being able to rocket jump the whole map if trained.

The jarate is known as jar based karate. Where after taking pills it'll grow the size of your kidneys to an extremely high level. Saxton hale invented it and such

Fun fact: There's an "Outtakes" trailer for Meet the Medic. It was ditched when the devs started to use the skit-based style of videos. It shows the origin of his medigun as he gives a monologue about how it changed his view of medicine.
Also I highly recommend the MvM trailers and the class weapon stereotype videos. All of em are absolute treats.

Since you mentioned it, there actually is a Team Fortress 1, two of them technically. The original Team Fortress was a Quake mod from the mid 90's that got so popular a standalone game was made of it, "Team Fortress Classic". Both were a lot of fun back in their day, but TF2 was given a lot more comedic tone and is a lot crazier to play in the good way. (ps, the Soldier being able to do a Rocketjump is a reference to the original Quake mod)

Actually it's his eye socket that is cursed, because no matter how many times Medic used a medigun to generate another eye, it would become the eyeball monster all over again
i'm kinda late but one of the greatest things in tf2, and also in these trailer's was the attention to detail. for example in meet the scout when he says: "i hurt people". he touches the camera glass and it leaves a smudge on the camera for the rest of the video lol.
