“I wanna see a full movie” Bro I’ve been crying this for 8 years. Welcome to the story, the ow community can be salty sometimes but we love to have you here. These cinematics and the story of overwatch (such that it exists) are what made me fall in love with the game, glad you’re enjoying these!
And now it comes to light there was a netflix series in the works until Bliz's parent company activision decided to sue netflix for poaching one of it's finance executives.
@@Llian_C I mean we had leaks and rumors about the show for years but yeah this revelation that it got scrapped due to dumb corpo stuff is just so depressing. Like this game can’t get a break and every time we lose out on something cool they could’ve made for us it always goes back to the Acti/Blizz corpos just fumbling at every turn.
Bro watching this react made me realize again that we used to get videos to introduce new maps and their lore... Since ow2 we lost so much content... No videos to introduce maps and lore + hardly no teasing around new heroes... They just show a concept saying "here is the next hero" and it pops out months later... Remember when Orisa's robot was in front os us this all time on numbani and it was all tied to Doomfist also being teased + they released orisa so they removed the robot at the attack spawn (since she got repaired)? And when they did a whole ARG with informations/data to find + websites to "hack" to find informations about sombra? Crazy time.... they used to hype us and involving us into the game so much... No teasing/hyping around new content is what hurts me the most with overwatch2, they just release without hyping anymore.
@@crimzouz5175oh my god the buildup for Sombra was so fucking cool. I remember like months of community speculation about who or what Sombra was with people like digging into newspaper headlines on random items in the maps themselves that referenced her. All this lead up to the infiltration short what a fucking great hero release
@@mamboonthetube7652 Hell yeah. Definitely the best teasing they've done in my opinion! Out of overwatch 2 Ramattra had a good teasing because he had been teased back in ow1 but he came out a bit late so the teasing effect kinda "wore off", same for junkerqueen. From what I recall, the others hardly got any teasing (some didn't get any). I'd love them to take inspirations on League of legends on that actually (if they don't want or can't go back to what they did on ow1). Stop showing the entire hero before releasing it, "suddenly" release a very small video, even less than a minute, something intriguing to make like say "oh who's that about what's coming?". Make us wonder about what you're cooking and then release the champ in the next 1/2months maximum (so we don't stop caring about it). And start introducing real hints about upcoming heroes in the maps
They literally don’t give af about their lore anymore and it’s so sad. They only care about doing license collabs now, notice how we don’t get anymore cinematic trailers? 😢RIP OG Overwatch…
just compare these to their recent videos. the story is still good but they gutted the animation and execution. this was back when the game was still developed with passion
@@SimplyJustinseriously… I grew up with overwatch and had been obsessed with it ever since it came out. My heart still aches so painfully just thinking about how hollow the heroes and lore feel now. So many incredible characters with brilliant backstorie and dynamic personalities just abandoned, left in a state of stagnation. This story had infinite potential, and they sold it off for a quick buck.
I feel they never should have tried, focusing on keeping the game fun rather than extremely competitive and just making cinematics every now and then was good. Sombra's tease into her release was one of the most popular times and people loved it, the game should have stayed that way
The PTSD triggered scene where Bastion destroys the forest always slays me. Such an incredibly delivered story without a single word spoken. I mean come on, Blizzard cooked so hard with these back then.
btw widow's story is pretty crazy. She was married to one of the higher ranking overwatch members. So the bad guys kidnapped her, brainwashed her, did some other horrible stuff to her(which turned her blue), and then sent her to kill her own husband. Which she did.. and that's why she's called widowmaker. it's also why Ana hesitated and got shot, because she recognized her. Also Blackwatch are not bad guys. They were the black ops division of overwatch before it fell apart.

The best thing about Reinhardt's cinematic is that it directly ties to gameplay in concept. It is very common for tank players to run in and leave their teammates behind just to get kills. As a tank you're meant to protect your team. You need to jump in front of them and take damage for them because you have more health than them.
29:51 Widowmaker's backstory is actually so damn sad and tragic. in her former life, Widowmaker (Amélie) was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent spearheading operations against the Talon terrorist organization. After several unsuccessful attempts to eliminate Gérard, Talon decided to change its focus to his wife, Amélie. Talon operatives kidnapped her and subjected her to an intense program of neural reconditioning. They broke her will, suppressed her personality, and reprogrammed her as a sleeper agent. She was eventually found by Overwatch agents, apparently none the worse for wear, and returned to her normal life. Two weeks later she killed Gérard in his sleep. Her mission complete, Amélie returned to Talon, and they completed the process of turning her into a living weapon. 49:38 Also the reason Ana didn't shoit was she knew Amélie before she became Widowmaker.
I'm so happy you watched the character introductions too! Even if they aren't as flashy as the 3D shorts, they give a lot of context to the characters. Especially if you're new to the franchise.
You know, watching these is kinda bittersweet for me now, it reminds me of a more innocent time, before I had to periodically re-evaluate my love for the game, and the community was thriving. But hey, I still love it 😂
You: I wasn't expecting to get emotionally attached in these... Next one is Honor and Glory. Me: Well.... prepare to be emotionally gut punched again 😅
Pretty cool reaction. The cinematics for this game are just on another level, I really don't know how Blizzard hasn't made it a movie or a series yet. With that being said, it would be very interesting to see you trying the game, I always find it very refreshing to see new people getting to know the world of Overwatch, from the animations to the real game
As someone who started playing overwatch in 2016, i realy liked this video and enjoyed it very much. To see someone try to connecting the dots its amazing. Just love keep up the work
There's a bunch of different factions, but the main two are Overwatch and Talon. Overwatch was originally founded to defeat the omnics (robots) that declared war on humanity, but grew into a much wider organization, with researchers of all kinds (climate scientists like Mei, medical tech researchers like Angela/Mercy and Moira) alongside the fighters. Blackwatch was Overwatch's black ops division, and it was run by Gabriel Reyes, who later became Reaper (the skull guy). The "Retribution" short is about the mission that put Blackwatch in the spotlight and put increasing pressure on Overwatch. At that time, Genji and Cole Cassidy/Jesse McCree (old name, changed because he was named after a vile asshole) were part of it too, but they both became better people and kept working for Overwatch in a less sinister manner. Meanwhile, Moira and Gabriel ended up joining Talon later. Talon is a terrorist organization, currently run by Doomfist. They were Overwatch's main enemy for a while until Overwatch was shut down. They're pretty much destabilizing the world, because Doomfist believes that conflict and war will make humanity stronger. A real Darwinist in that sense. Their members include Reaper, Doomfist, Moira, and Mauga (Overwatch 2 character), who are all there seemingly willingly, as well as Sombra, who has her own goals, and Widowmaker and Sigma, who were both manipulated in some way into being part of it. Baptiste was a (lower ranking) Talon soldier too, until he left. The other characters have more varied allegiances. Some are members of their nation's military, like D.Va, some are criminals, like Ashe, and others just do whatever they want or feel good about, like Bastion. Of course, after the Overwatch shutdown, most Overwatch members could be counted among this group too. Soldier 76 became a vigilante. Mercy/Angela just went back to work as a doctor, but in crisis areas instead of a regular hospital or in Overwatch, etc. As far as the types of characters you can play as goes, most of them are fighters in some way. They're divided into Damage, Tank, and Support (healers). Damage used to be divided into Offense and Defense too, but that distinction wasn't that important. There's only very few characters who lore-wise wouldn't have much or any combat experience though. Mei is the most obvious one, since she's really just a climate scientist. Mercy is the most stereotypical healer, but she worked as a combat medic for Overwatch, so she does have combat experience, even if it's not usually as a fighter. You play 5v5 (used to be 6v6). At the start, you could just choose anyone, even duplicate heroes in a team. Then they restricted it to a max of 1 of each character per team. Then they put restrictions on what types of characters you needed per team (and kept unrestricted as a separate mode). First it was 2/2/2, 2 damage characters mostly meant for trying to kill enemies, 2 tanks to protect your team and claim space, and 2 supports for keeping your team alive and dealing with other nasty stuff. Then I believe it went 3/1/2 for a while, but I didn't play anymore then. Then in Overwatch 2, it became 5v5, with a 2/1/2 format. Tanks became significantly stronger and more specialized, and their role is more focused on claiming space now, instead of just providing shields and such (which not all tanks did anyway). If you want, I can give a quick rundown of most of the characters' lore and playstyles (I don't know the most recent few characters well though, haven't played in a while). Just let me know if you want it. I'm no pro by any means, but I've played enough of it that I can give you the basics. If you actually play the game though, I do recommend just trying some characters out in the firing range, or just in a normal match.
Very good information. But just pointing out, Overwatch never went 3/1/2, it was 2/2/2 until the release of 2, the closest thing of this was before the role restrictions were the meta (best characters based on the game balance in that point in time) was 3 tanks and 3 supports
@@_leonardo_almeida I seem to remember the game enforcing 3/1/2 sometime in between 2/2/2 and Overwatch 2's release. But like I said, I didn't play during that time. I believe I stopped shortly before or after 2/2/2 became enforced, so I probably just misremember. Maybe 3/1/2 was just in an experimental beta or something, or it was discussed by the community but never added.
@@katxiii3660like the guy before said, that was around the period of goats meta, and during that time it was usually 3 supports and 3 tanks, but sometimes a dps was put in instead of a support(especially because sombra released and became meta)
It's almost kinda embarrassing to admit but, about 40 minutes into this I started crying. I wasn't even really at an emotional part, so I didn't even know why at first. It was slow and quiet, but it was happening - no mistaking it. Eventually it slowly dawned on me that I wasn't crying at the stories in front of me - I already knew them all too well. I was crying because I haven't revisited most of these since the day they released. I knew they were good, I'd already seen them, but I don't think I could have ever truly understood how much of a crucial part of the heart of Overwatch its cinematics are until I had this moment - and how bleak and empty it all feels without them... I think especially seeing this almost immediately after finally hearing the answers we always kind of knew and dreaded were true, about why the cinematics ran dry, and Overwatch missed its potential time and time again from 2018 onwards. That they were told that these cinematics were a waste of time and money, that they should have been charging for new characters and maps, that the conventions they ran for their fans were just unnecessary drains on their resources. That because of the mass layoffs and budget cuts, we'd be lucky to see any more of these. That they tanked their chances of Overwatch getting a Netflix series, like people have been saying it should have had for *years,* all over petty greed. I guess I've been able to move on in the past because I do hold the opinion that Overwatch the *game*, is better now than when it released. Certainly less consistent - given the wrong meta or Season, it can be miserable - but when things are good, they are much better than they were in the past (never make me go back to open queue). For so many years now, I've just been playing Overwatch the game, so it hasn't bothered me... But I think watching this video made my cry because I finally realised, that short of a miracle to bring it back, Overwatch the world and story - is effectively dead. I always knew it wasn't looking good. I always knew it wasn't on the up and up. But it just hits so different finally having that grim certainty and finality about it... That it's gone, most of what we got for Overwatch 2 was likely leftover from 2018, and anything more we get now will be thrown together with significantly less budget, time, and love. In a weird way, it started to feel like a memorial service for the story they built up, but never got to tell. --- That's the most of what I wanted to say, but I just also wanted to add, I'm kind of surprised you truly knew nothing going into this - but it certainly worked well for making this video feel like it was taking me back in time. I know obviously not everyone knows about Overwatch, but usually when I see someone who doesn't play Overwatch, they still at least see someone particularly iconic like Reaper or Genji and go "wait, that guy's (x), right?". Lastly, just wanna clear some things up: Maybe you've already been told, but in case it comes up - I wanna clear up the confusion around the Cowboy guy's name. He was called Jesse *McCree* originally, but he was named after someone at blizzard who was implicated in the sexual assault scandals there from a few years back. Obviously having one of your most iconic video game characters be named after a sex offender maybe isn't the best look, so they changed his name to Cole *Cassidy.* And I thought I should probably explain in short the whole "Evil Cassidy / Evil Genji" thing with Blackwatch - since I don't believe it's explained in any of the cinematics. It's been a while since I brushed up on the lore here, but iirc - Blackwatch was part of Overwatch. It was a secret part of it that would handle missions they couldn't get away with carrying out in the public eye. It also enlisted the help of a lot of ex-outlaws like Cass and Genji, and was led by Gabriel Reyes (Reaper back when he was still a normal human being). The chain reaction of events that led to Overwatch being outlawed and disbanded was triggered by them unlawfully murdering the guy in the Retribution cinematic, and blowing the lid on their whole covert ops division. It is confusing, since a lot of Blackwatch members later become members of Talon - the real bad guys - but some of them later come back to join Overwatch to fight the good fight like Cass and Genji. _anyway, thanks for reading._
Blackwatch is just the Black Ops portion of Overwatch, did the more dark things that couldn't be seen by public. The over arching story of the game is Overwatch (perceived good) vs Talon (perceived bad) but not every playable character is part of them. The Sigma animation has a few secrets if its played in reverse too...
You’ve GOT to do the OW2 ones as well I beg!!! Zero Hour is years of magic in the making and Kiriko is good and stylistically dope (I might be missing some but those are the ones that stand out).
Its such a shame what has happened to Overwatch man. Such a phenomenal game with a really fun and invigorating story. Now they don't even have a narrative team anymore, they laid off all of their writers and are focused on gameplay. Gameplay has also gone crazy and you need to read a dictionary's worth to understand how to even play the game anymore lol
It's slowly been getting better but at this point it's just too late, the damage has been done. Luckily the cinematic stuff has always been fantastic, and the OW2 stuff keeps that level of quality
@@SHinierthennyourforeheadI think its arguable that the gameplay right now of overwatch 2 is leagues ahead of the last couple years of overwatch one. It took a couple years for overwatch 2 to find its feet gameplay wise but man is it better having constant updates and patches compared to years of silence from the developers. If you say otherwise id probably say its nostalgia. It is regrettable that there isnt any more cinematics and the netflix show was cancelled, but thats not blizzards fault. They cancelled the show because netflix was trying to get blizzard developers to work for their games instead as part of the deal. Honestly i think the pve was a bad idea from the start. Very hard to implement engaging gameplay for pve from overwatch multiplayer because the whole game works around the characters playing against eachother in team combat, not against ai that honestly arent nearly as interesting or engaging. Just my opinion of course, but the path overwatch 2 is on is a bright one from what i can see.
Blackwatch was the undercover part of overwatch. They did the things that needed to be done, but it was illegal. But after the guy was like yea he will be out soon and back to doing bad stuff. Reaper just said fk it and killed him. Which overwatch doesn’t do. That’s why overwatch was shut down.
In case no one has told you yet, The Honor and Glory Cinematic with the German Crusaders... The reason the guy who died is still there in the future, is that the Tradition of the Crusaders is that your Armor is your Tomb.
58:35 - Yvain Gnabro was an Overwatch animator that worked on the shorts. Sadly during Summer 2016 he passed away in a freeway crash while riding his motorcycle home from work.
Its crazy how much these animated shorts rivaled animation studios like Pixar. The fact that these animations and convey such a story in 10 minute less stories is a talent to behold. Making a viewer like a character for less then 10 minutes of watch time is no easy to do. Its really is a huge shame that they laid off the entire story and animation team. These blizzard animations is what brought Non FPS gamers and non gamers to overwatch and made them love it. Even if you dont play games you know who tracer was cause of these animations.
Just a quick explanation Jessie was the cowboy you saw with the "evil guys" because they were apart of overwatch but they were the ones doing the dirty work black ops and such. Hench the name Blackwatch
i always love people reaction to these cinematics. Even more if they are new to the Overwatch-Story. Most of the pure and awesome reaction yet. love it!!
Sigmas story is actually what got me into the game 😅 I’ve been playing since ow2 came out, I had seen stuff about the first game but never knew that’s where the story of character was from
There's still sooooo much to check out! The Overwatch 2 trailer "Zero Hour" is one of the best, as well as the new character cinematics/origin stories & PvE story mode cutscenes (that unfortunately has been scrapped after just 3 chapters ://)
dude I wish I could explain every question you asked bc I am a huge lore nerd. I loved a few time where you pointed out things, but not knowing some of the backstories can make some confusing stuff happen.
Every character has their own map including rein which is eichenwald which you can see reins friend in the cinematic still sitting in the chair 🥹 rein also has a skin that has his olds friends armor
Just watched this all in one sitting and really enjoyed your reactions! I got into Overwatch through its lore and nothing makes me sadder than the fact that we're not likely to ever get a full-blown series
I loved watching these reactions! My spouse and I have been playing overwatch together since like 2017 and I haven't even seen most of the cinematics. Seeing the pure joy of experiencing these with no knowledge of the game was truly a treat. I'm really looking forward to watching more of your overwatch videos and seeing how you progress. After years of being jaded by the overwatch community this is a refreshing take on it, and a good reminder how solid the background lore is.
This was such an amazing video even if I have played the game for years and seen all of this. It's just so cool and sort of heartwarming seeing someone else's first reaction to everything! gonna binge your other videos now😁
I'll never get over how they're like, "Oh look, here's an adorable robot in a beautiful forest...WITH PTSD." God they love crushing souls with these. 😄
Loved these. There are more hero trailers and cinematics, looking forward to seeing them! Also, seeing you try the game after would also honestly be fantastic - it's free to play, and giving it a quick try and seeing your reactions would be really fun :)
Sombra reveal was insane.. Overwatch team (I can only hear Jeff voice) have done an ARG for Sombra and when Ana was revealed the whole community expected Sombra instead.. And then one year at Blizzcon they had something on the main screen when the screen glitched and the Infiltration cinematic started.. Brilliantly executed. Not sure if ARG was cracked
i have playing this game since open beta made so many friends and lost as many. almost going pro/ played in contenders.basically this game was my life it hurts so much watching these shorts and trailer always makes me cry, it always reminding me of my past friend ship and just the glory day of this game how fun it was not only playing it but the community, how Jeff did the Christmas stream, seeing so much content from the tombstone and everyone. it was such a good game, its sad were it is today. i have copeium, hoping it will return but i highly doubt it because most of the devs to probaly all of them that did the story, game play, animation and ETC are all gone
Overwatch was originally a 6v6 team based FPS with various game modes, map types and individual unique hero abilities. It is now a 5v5. All of the characters in those trailers and shorts are playable in the game. More new ones have been added when the game went into "overwatch 2" which is more like a revamp expansion than an actual sequel. Unfortunately, the the 'sequel' aspect of the game did not go to well and the game is now essentially an expansion of the overwatch game with new modes, heroes, maps and skins amongst other things. I hope this info was helpful in your discovery of the game and its characters and story etc. Thanks for this awesome video! Yes, the original Overwatch made the best animated shorts etc.
In overwatch one i loved the animated intro, hell this is winston, ill never be able to see thet again now, the game doesnt have any animated intro now it just starts.
i also love the dragons (genji and hanzo) cinematic so much, literally couldn't wait for you to get to it. also i agree, blizzard please make a movie, i beg
Some of these came out back when it was still called overwatch one but story wise are almost more so aligned with overwatchtwo. The one where Cassidy(mcCree‘s new name due to a controversy that I won’t get into), Genji, Moira, and a few other characters are part of the black watch division of overwatch actually takes place as a sort of flashback to a time nearing the end of the first Omni war before overwatch was shut down. The one titled reunion actually takes place after Winston‘s recall where Cassidy is on a recruiting mission helping bring together the new overwatch. when overwatch fell apart, some of the black watch members joined the bad guy team, and a few of them went into hiding, and then eventually joined back up with the good guy team as in the new overwatch.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but Doomfist Cinematic happens prior to the 1st Overwatch Cinematic, which is what the kid was talking about with the whole "Winston Primal Punch" being their fight
23:30 "idk he might be terrible in the game tho who knows" made me laugh because whenever a different character is meta people always joke that we should nerf genji LMAO
quick explanation for the "good" and "bad" guys: Overwatch had a small 2nd team called Blackwatch with morally gray characters willing to bed laws to get things done. character like McCree, Moira, and Genji worked for blackwatch. after overwatch later disbanded, some stayed good, but most blackwatch members moved to Talon, the big bad guy group of the world. also, McCree's name was changed to Cole Cassidy because his old name was taken from a blizzard employee who was later discovered to do things i can't say on youtube.
By the way, in case you do OW2 reactions, a quick couple notes about the cowboy character: - Originally his name is Jesse McCree, named after a Blizzard employee. However, in 2021, it was revealed that real-life person did some really heinous things in relation to female employees. So, from then forth, the character was renamed to Cole Cassidy. - The release order of the animatics/trailers are not necessarily in order, story-wise. The earliest point we saw him in this video was in some quick flashes of his days in the same gang as Ashe. He later joined Blackwatch, then after the illegalization of Overwatch activity, he struck out on his own. Some unknown time later, he retrieves Echo after the events of the Recall short to join the fight with Overwatch proper.
Fun fact, just in case no one else has said this. D.Va, the one from Shooting Star, doesn’t actually have a shield or anything in her mech. She’s a famous StarCraft player, known for her unmatched reaction time. The “Defense Matrix” or the “shield” her mech puts out when she first engages the omnics in that cutscene actually just converts bullets into a readable StarCraft screen. She shoots the bullets or missiles herself with her guns-think of it like turning battles into readable games. Reaction time is crazy. Thought I’d drop this here if no one else beat me to it.
I always enjoy people reacting to the Mei trailer! This is how it always goes: - Multiple humans die Everyone: "Oh well...that's sad." - Snowball sacrifices his battery Everyone: "SNOWBALL NOOOOO!"
@@SolitarySaturn Oh you are inn for a treat! I find it still very fun to play with friends! And the Lore and story still retains its charm with interactions and dialogue between the heros! Hope you enjoy!!

Loved rewatching all these cinematics again! I highly recommend watching their newest animated short/series called Genesis. It's very short but it explains the Omnic Crisis and the past OG Overwatch squad!
I believe you'd enjoy Winston. He is a bigger guy and doesn't require any aim, so it elevates some pressure for a new player to shooter genre, but at the same time he isn't "noob character", he has much to offer in learning and you can potentially achieve the top with mastering him. I feel like his gameplay reminds chess in some way: you always think how to engage AND disengage, you have to track weaker targets and predict enemy's movement. A lot of "micro" decisions, meanwhile you don't really have to worry about mechanics. Overall, I enjoyed rewatching these with you. Great video
Honestly the cinematics are the best part of the game. You can't play Overwatch 1 anymore since 2 was more of a large update to the original rather than a sequel. The actual game is fun, but ever since they butchered the story mode in Overwatch 2 its been tough to be a fan
McCree/ Cassidy were in Black Watch alongside Moira, Reaper and Genji which was their special ops division. Moira and Reaper left to join what would be Talon. Genji and McCree would stay in Overwatch.
In fact, Starcraft is the same company that makes Overwatch, which is why there are similar designs on some characters, even to play them with skins from other titles.
I main Ana / Tracer on dps and support... don't ask me about tanking!! The game gets a rough ride but only because the standards were so high. The game is still great and I'd love to see an animated show of it all. The character stories sell the game so much so that 8 years later I'm still playing.
Sigma, the insane man in the second to last video, is lorewise the most powerful man in the overwatch universe. Capable of manipulating black holes at will. Luckily he has developed schizophrenia and is not fully aware what he is even capable of most of the time. He is currently residing with Talon, the evil faction (Doomfist, sombra, reaper, moira) where they use him for their nefarious deeds, which is a shame since most of the time he is just a hovering sweetheart of a man with amnesia who loves classical music.

It brings me to tears knowing Blizzard will never do this story and this game justice. I have many fond memories of this game that I'll never forget
I was actually tricked into being excited for overwatch 2 pve and then they just never did it 😐 such a sad way for things to go
@@SimplyJustinseriously… I grew up with overwatch and had been obsessed with it ever since it came out.
I mean come on, Blizzard cooked so hard with these back then.
i think that animation won some awards, portraying PTSD so well with zero words
@@memezida1💯
For a scene about a robot, it's such a well crafted moment. It's absolutely incredible, it WRECKED me the first time I watched it
"Someone has to do something!!!...... WE have to do something!!!" GOOSEBUMPS EVERY TIME!!!
Fr... Forgot this existed back in OW1 till this video
btw widow's story is pretty crazy.
They were the black ops division of overwatch before it fell apart.
she's blue because they lowered her heartbeat so she could get the best aim while sniping in every diff situation (i believe she's close to zero BPM)
@@laurentblanc2065 0 is too low, a realistic number would be around 40 bpm and a fictitious number would be 15 (im assuming they removed both Sinus node and Atrioventricular node causing the heart to use the 3rd degree pacemaker which pump very slow, uhhh people typically die or are vegetables when that happens so they probs had to reduce her metabolism which is counterintuitive to an assassin tbh).
I don't know the science behind it but it probably doesn't make any sense they just wanted to give a Sci-Fi reason for why her skin is blue@@Fuphu
@@marigolden_mariposa Yeah atleast it makes more sense than everything regarding kiriko. They didnt even bother trying to justify it with science
@@Fuphu I mean, the game started out with two dudes summoning magic dragons. There has always been aspects of the game that were not grounded in science.
man the Dragons realy makes me tear up such powerful music and story
It was great!
idk why but watching the first cinematic trailer again since it came out brought me to tears.
this game means so much to me
I love when people get to hopefully relive how that felt seeing these type of things for the first time again.
@@SolitarySaturn it really is a good feeling. i remember thinking to myself "why am i crying?" but i couldnt hold it back. it was amazing. i loved your reactions to it all, too. thank you for making this
I'm right with you. Means a lot to me also.
The best thing about Reinhardt's cinematic is that it directly ties to gameplay in concept. It is very common for tank players to run in and leave their teammates behind just to get kills. As a tank you're meant to protect your team. You need to jump in front of them and take damage for them because you have more health than them.
*Wrecking Ball has entered the chat*
The Junkrat and Roadhog ones always make me laugh 😂 Remember... inconspicuous!
I loved them too! Made me want to try them if I decide to try the game sometime! Thanks for watching!
The Cinematics are incredibly well made and just hit all the right emotional notes!
You know, watching these is kinda bittersweet for me now, it reminds me of a more innocent time, before I had to periodically re-evaluate my love for the game, and the community was thriving.
But hey, I still love it 😂
The dragon’s animation will forever be the best piece of cinematic artwork I have ever seen
You: I wasn't expecting to get emotionally attached in these... Next one is Honor and Glory.
Me: Well.... prepare to be emotionally gut punched again 😅
fr, literally the only thing that never failed to bring me tears and i would not consider myself an emotional man
Pretty cool reaction. The cinematics for this game are just on another level, I really don't know how Blizzard hasn't made it a movie or a series yet. With that being said, it would be very interesting to see you trying the game, I always find it very refreshing to see new people getting to know the world of Overwatch, from the animations to the real game
I've never played Overwatch, but I always liked how they advertised their game with these videos
I was really impressed with them!
Its a good game, although it has gone down hill from its peak its still a addictive and fun game.
unnamed is right. It is still fun but sadly down from it's peak
As someone who started playing overwatch in 2016, i realy liked this video and enjoyed it very much. To see someone try to connecting the dots its amazing. Just love keep up the work
Thanks for watching!
Wow thanks for all the info and for watching the video!
@@katxiii3660 Yes, it was tried in the test section of Overwatch but never made it to the main game.
---
That's the most of what I wanted to say, but I just also wanted to add, I'm kind of surprised you truly knew nothing going into this - but it certainly worked well for making this video feel like it was taking me back in time.
I know obviously not everyone knows about Overwatch, but usually when I see someone who doesn't play Overwatch, they still at least see someone particularly iconic like Reaper or Genji and go "wait, that guy's (x), right?".
Lastly, just wanna clear some things up:
Maybe you've already been told, but in case it comes up - I wanna clear up the confusion around the Cowboy guy's name.
He was called Jesse *McCree* originally, but he was named after someone at blizzard who was implicated in the sexual assault scandals there from a few years back.
Obviously having one of your most iconic video game characters be named after a sex offender maybe isn't the best look, so they changed his name to Cole *Cassidy.*
And I thought I should probably explain in short the whole "Evil Cassidy / Evil Genji" thing with Blackwatch - since I don't believe it's explained in any of the cinematics.
Thanks for letting me come along for the ride!
its crazy because i used to not want to get on overwatch with my friends until i saw the cinematics and went "huh this looks fun"
" Are you with me? "
Always gets a yes outta me, honestly...Winstons a bro, and ya gotta respect his desire to help!
This game has been a part of my life for over a third of my lifespan… that’s kinda fuckin crazy to think about
Blackwatch is just the Black Ops portion of Overwatch, did the more dark things that couldn't be seen by public.
The Junkerqueen one is also really good
@@Chekkam true, forgot about that one. Love the style
When you realize these cinematic showcase maps characters and skins it makes it so much better
This makes me even more mad that Overwatch is likely never getting a PVE storymode. And they even cancelled the Netflix show
@@avideoeditor7895 no it doesnt stop lying to urself juno's animation was horrendous and the story was even more shambolic
It's always nice seeing someone new enjoy these shorts. Gives me a lotta nostalgia watching these again after years
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!

They should really just make a movie or tv show the cinematics have always been the best part of overwatch.
Amazing game been on it since came out keeps getting better, started with 21 characters now at 41 , all cinematics are amazing too. Strongly recomeded

it was such a good game, its sad were it is today. i have copeium, hoping it will return but i highly doubt it because most of the devs to probaly all of them that did the story, game play, animation and ETC are all gone
It is still a great game. I will mourn the day the servers are shut down. Hope you come back.

It sure did!
The overwatch cinematics reminds me of Pixar movie Magic it has something I can’t explain
been playing ow2 for a couple of months now but ive never seen these clips! i really liked this video, it was fun watching it with you:)
Super helpful! Thank you for the support!

Crazy how Phreak is in the first ever cinematic
Some of these came out back when it was still called overwatch one but story wise are almost more so aligned with overwatchtwo. The one where Cassidy(mcCree‘s new name due to a controversy that I won’t get into), Genji, Moira, and a few other characters are part of the black watch division of overwatch actually takes place as a sort of flashback to a time nearing the end of the first Omni war before overwatch was shut down. The one titled reunion actually takes place after Winston‘s recall where Cassidy is on a recruiting mission helping bring together the new overwatch. when overwatch fell apart, some of the black watch members joined the bad guy team, and a few of them went into hiding, and then eventually joined back up with the good guy team as in the new overwatch.
no human in the history of mankind has not cried at least a little at the last bastion
Not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but Doomfist Cinematic happens prior to the 1st Overwatch Cinematic, which is what the kid was talking about with the whole "Winston Primal Punch" being their fight
As a comment earlier mentioned, there are so many good ones for overwatch 2. Look forward to part 2
Just finished recording, stay tuned in the next day or two :)
23:30 "idk he might be terrible in the game tho who knows" made me laugh because whenever a different character is meta people always joke that we should nerf genji LMAO
Oof rise and shine followed by honor and glory heart too much heart
"I wanna see a full movie" Bro, community is asking it, litterally since the realease of the game, back in 2016.
quick explanation for the "good" and "bad" guys:
Overwatch had a small 2nd team called Blackwatch with morally gray characters willing to bed laws to get things done. character like McCree, Moira, and Genji worked for blackwatch. after overwatch later disbanded, some stayed good, but most blackwatch members moved to Talon, the big bad guy group of the world.
also, McCree's name was changed to Cole Cassidy because his old name was taken from a blizzard employee who was later discovered to do things i can't say on youtube.
By the way, in case you do OW2 reactions, a quick couple notes about the cowboy character:
- Originally his name is Jesse McCree, named after a Blizzard employee.
This is how it always goes:
- Multiple humans die
Everyone: "Oh well...that's sad."
- Snowball sacrifices his battery
Everyone: "SNOWBALL NOOOOO!"
hahaha this describes my reaction exactly!
I play Ow, and I really enjoyed your reactions!! Thanks for sharing them!!

Great video
Honor and glory is my absolute favorite always. Rise and shine second and then dragons 3rd
when you said "oh... Blizzard." yeah we're all right there with ya
Great video, you should really check out the "Zero Hour" OW2 trailer, its among the best in my opinion!
41:09 WE ALL DO!! ;w;
the tattoo on the guys arm in the reunion one was Kerrigan from StarCraft (if you've not checked out their cinematics you deffo should)
Honestly the cinematics are the best part of the game. You can't play Overwatch 1 anymore since 2 was more of a large update to the original rather than a sequel. The actual game is fun, but ever since they butchered the story mode in Overwatch 2 its been tough to be a fan
I just wish that cancelled show on Netflix was never cancelled.
Thanks for uploading👍
McCree/ Cassidy were in Black Watch alongside Moira, Reaper and Genji which was their special ops division. Moira and Reaper left to join what would be Talon. Genji and McCree would stay in Overwatch.
There are now 40 characters to choose from. 2:05:27 uprising hinted at Ramattra and Sojourn before Overwatch 2 was announced
I am excited to check out the overwatch 2 stuff soon! Thanks for watching!
I miss overwatch 1 and I miss the fandom from back then too...
5:13 The moment that kid became the coolest big brother in the world lmao
As a german I can't watch Honor and Glory without shedding a tear. 🖤❤💛
Ich hoffe es geht dir gut!
@@SolitarySaturn Ja hahaha. Keine Sorge. 😊
The woodpecker reminded him of the war he was in
you should totally check out the overwatch 2 animated shorts. They’re kind of different from the originals, but they’re still so immersive.
