- Recently bought an amazing old-school item at a great gaming shop while at university and thought I'd show it to you all... How many boxed Game Boys are still around today, eh?

I had that exact Game Boy color back in the day. Played it all day and all night, loved it.
I swear everyone had this color lol. Those were the days when the fun colors were mass produced and not just limited editions that sell out in minutes.
Most of my classmates had either the atomic purple or grape Gameboy color. I had the atomic purple

@@megantucker5670 they are very durable, but that gameboy is in amazing mint condition, and smashing it on the table like that can scratch it.

This exact Game Boy was my first Game Boy ever!!! And Donkey Kong Country was one of my first games along with Yoda Stories and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe!

I've still got the VHS-C camcorder my parents had in the 90s which works with a replacement battery... Need to get a blank tape though.
Just reshelled my originally teal GBC to a clear shell. Not Atomic Purple, just pure clear. It looks like new now and I love it. Through I haven't put on the back serial number sticker. I like the look when you are able to see the full cartridge artwork.
Niceeee, and the fact that you see more of your cartridges with a clear case is also quite awesome as well.

Really nice to see one in such good condition! Mine is quite worn out and the colour of the plastic is fading ever so slowly. I actually just got done doing the atomic purple d-pad mod on my Nintendo Switch and looks amazing! Now if I could play Pokémon silver on it that would make it perfect.
Hoooly shit I've heard about those atomic purple mods before online! They look really sick and definitely have that old-school 90s aesthetic.
This is the third Game Boy Color in my collection and the first one me and my brothers had growing up has the battery case missing and all the stickers gone. Still playable though.

Wow, you're lucky. Mine is not working anymore and it has a lot of scratches and such. I played it A LOT when i was a kid. I wish i could find a new one just like urs, same color and at least good condition to replace my beloved GBC.
I just found this at my thrift shop for 10$ I’m so happy it’s not mint condition but still working with no problems couldn’t be happier

I wonder why Nintendo didn't use the word "Colour" for the European release
Would've been a bit of a headache to create new logos and advertising for the countries that use our spelling I guess.
Still its not all bad. One of my favourite albums of all time is "In Colour" by Jamie xx and that spelling is the same all over the world.
@@SamTheEnglishGamer maybe they also didn’t want another color for the letter u. The color in the logo is all of the available colors at launch
Game oh color was pretty cool
I still have one of these, complete with the original box (mine is a solid purple one rather than a transparent one though). I received mine for Christmas in 1998 along with a copy of Harvest Moon (also received Ocarina of Time and Toca 2: Touring Cars).
Ahh nice! I was only a month old during that Christmas - Must've been crazy to experience Ocarina of Time when it was brand new, similar to when Breath of the Wild came out I suppose... Can't really say the same about Toca though.
Toca was a great game, it was the first serious racing series Codemasters produced, and i was really into touring cars at that time as i'd been to the race track to see them live. Day 1 of Ocarina is certainly memorable, it didn't have the pure wow factor that Day 1 Mario 64 had, but did come pretty close.
Nice - It's really cool talking to someone who was around when stuff like the N64 was brand new! I remember when the Wii was huge and everyone had one.
I do have a Toca game as well, might be the same one actually but I bought it second hand at Blockbuster six years ago.
I almost didn't get an N64 at launch, on day 1 Nintendo royally messed up as only 20,000 consoles were made available. The shop mine came from were allocated just 2, and i was third in the reservation queue. Then someone dropped out and i was able to claim it for myself. Also back then, i used to write to a lot of different companies asking for free stuff which means that tucked away in an old poster tube, i have a ton of original N64 game posters that were used in shops. By the time Ocarina came out though they were becoming much harder to find so i had to source mine from woolworths instead.
I just snagged an atomic purple gameboy color fresh in box! It's japanese too, so the manual and everything is in japanese 😂 saw an amazing deal while at a convention so I made sure I got it before anybody else!
Any gameboy just screams Pokémon and Tetris

Ayyye sounds like you're in love with a great person! Also if its a Japanese copy of the Game Boy Color then the box will look different from its European and US counterpart.

They didn’t spell color with a u because the colors of the word color coordinated to the colors of the GameBoy colors
