"Let the brave men go out the and win this war."
did he say to the arguably bravest man of them all.
*"Some men might, not my desmond"* 😩🥺💗
Did the colonel really have to go out of his way and show up just in time to delay Doss’ glory
The Colonel was just on a power-trip. Wasn’t necessary at all, just wanted to prove a point.
Military leadership on a power trip? Say it ain't so.
@@matt_ttn Right? 😆
@@matt_ttn so let me put it into perspective Did the colonel really have to go out of his way and show up just in time to delay Doss’ glory
Most more in that position usually are. They spend a huge portion of their lives kissing ass and screwing over friends to get there, because the only way they’ll ever experience respect is when rules and regulations force it
@@dr.vegapunk5853 you stole that from me
There's really People who does wake up the morning wondering whose life they gonna screwed up.
Never, ever judge a book by its cover. A society which does, will forfeit the leadership and heroism of those hidden in their midst.
Well said. Too bad it already missed out a lot because of that...
We live in a kakistocracy
1:39 did that man teleport because he came out of nowhere bruh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My God she is a beautiful woman, and that dress is stunning.
"You don't win wars by giving up your life"
Actually, Captain....that is precisely what you do. You accept the fact that you are literally dead, the second you sign on.
I mean, it's a blessing to be a survivor and make it through the hell, but in that case: pretty much assuming you're going to die allows for some kind of peace.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, commander of Turkish forces in Gallipoli also the founder of modern Turkey ordered their soldiers: "I do not command you to attack, I command you to die." At the defend of Gallipoli... Every single Turk is so patriotic by blood.
Captain couldve taken that lesson from Lt. Speirs
You win wars by sacrificing your life which is what all soldiers sign up to do knowing they most likely will die
General Patton said, “No bastard has won a war by dying for their country, he won it by killing by the other poor dumb bastard”.
Good acting, the commanding officer just hated him. Damn mel Gibson makes great war movies
That wedding dress is more beautiful than todays. Fight me.
Have you seen every single wedding dress in the world today?
i'll fight you over being unable to just make a simple statement about beauty, and feeling compelled to use that STUPID high school "fight me" trash., You on Springer?
@@climateanxiety2825 stop pretending todays dresses are as modest. We both know they arent
@@v44rgtuy0l3 Who said anything about modesty? We were talking about how beautiful they were, not your silly artificial morals. Again, have you seen every single wedding dress made in the world today?

A colonel commanding a company? I thought company command typically was given to captains.
Disabled CC and then turn the volume down?? WTF
I certainly like the andrew garfield

Are we the baddies
What i dont get is that he could have done all the training with a gun and when he actually went to war, done the exact same thing he did.
Because they would use that as grounds that Doss was faking. If you touched a rifle before, you should be able to now. At the Sand Hill, 2/58 Ft Benning ITB in the 90s, a guy was a CO. They used screwed up logic to accuse him of faking. Crap like did you ever kill a bug, logic was if you could kill bugs you could kill people, and gave abridged stories of Sgt York to him. Plus Doss had his religious principles and good or bad was going to stand by them as honestly as he could.
@@esbam2002 but he literally touched a gun at the end of the movie when he was dragging his commander. Principles go out the window when faced with death?
@@dain6492he touched a gun, but he never fired it.
Yeah tons of christians and Catholics in history did that when they could have lied about not being catholic or abstain their faith but instead they stick to it even facing torture
Men of principle do not forsake their beliefs or their faith to the edict of others.
I didn’t understand this part. Why didn’t he just take the gun, rack the bolt, maybe load and unload it, it’s not like he’s being asked to kill a man on the spot
If he took up a gun now, he'd be expected to take up a gun later. Also, people dont magically become good with guns when joining the army. If he'd been tested on his markmanship, he would have failed from his lack of training up to that point.

Remember when women loved men enough to hold to them, stick with them, even when things get rough? Desmond Doss remembers.
My girlfriend stuck with me when I was living in a hotel for 5 months last year
Narcissism is common nowadays in both genders, not just women.
well its still like that so
Should have just did the rifle training. Real life story he actually hunted so makes no sense just to do the training but refuse to use a weapon in combat or take a life or harm in non personal close space self defense
Yea he said he can't touch a gun but he did in the heat of battle to carry the one guy away, movies not very consistent
@@Mega_Bytes He wouldn't use a gun as a weapon against another human.
@@terryjohnson8317 That's not what he said, he said "I can't touch a gun" cause I remember when he was getting ready to go get married the officer said to just hold the gun and he wouldn't do it
@@Mega_Bytes That's to show character growth. He accepts that his own ethics must be put aside for a brief moment so that he can save a life, the thing he signed up to do.
It's the principle of the thing. He wants to be a good man that saves lives, not take them. If he goes through rifle training he will physically be capable of using a weapon to kill someone. The kind of training that involves is drilled into you meaning in a heated moment in the field he will fall back on whatever training he has. If he is trained to shoot, that will be his first reaction.

*Blue Shell*
Thats so stupid, it wasn't that he was reluctant to, 'touch' a rifle, or even shoot it. It was the killing of another human that he was vehemently against. Get it right dammit! These Hollyweird made up versions are so darn cheesy, and miss the essence of the story. Filling them up with cheesy over-hyped made-up nonsense to just increase the sensation, like they do with everything.
If you are going to take a radical position you had better have thought it through and not just think or hope you are right. If everyone had taken his position we would all be speaking German today.
No shit, no one watching the movie thinks this is what everyone should do. It’s just one guy whose “radical position” saved 75 men. He was even ok with the other men taking lives he just didn’t do it himself.
@@shorelinefishing9213 It's a rather selfish, egocentric position to take though, when you are okay with other people doing the dirty work, so you can live and have the luxury of not fighting. It's okay for someone else to have the emotional trauma and bear the burden of having to take a life, while he relies on them for protection. He didn't deserve to even be there.
@@kennethturner8290 not fighting....the man litetally spent day and night carrying people back and forth to save their lives, lowering them with only his own strength
Dodging enemy fire, bombs and troops themselves
Selfish my ass
@@kennethturner8290 Did we watch the same movie? He almost killed his father in rage. Did you not see the rage in this clip? This man knows he has anger problems and has taken a vow to keep himself from being controlled by that rage. He does not expect others to follow in his footsteps, nor does he condemn what they are doing.
@@harbringar828 Ah, that's nice of him not to condemn the other men defending his life and freedom, while he works out his anger management emotional problems.
この男の人髪多いね😅
人髪?
during those times The brass made it a point to break the men into compliance. That tradition continues on today. It separates the boys from men and its needed. If you think otherwise, then ask yourself this. Would an enemy care about your pro nouns as they sink their blade into your neck?
There's a line from an anime called Vinland Saga I think about when I hear people talk about enemies and such.
In the second or third episode the retired war hero Thors tells his son "You have no enemies." but his son doesn't understand and doesn't begin to understand until decades later. It's a good show, or at least the first season was.
Ok boomer
Sounds like they take men and turn them into trained seals. The only reason to break a man is to make him your puppet. Separating the men from the boys, laughable statement
Yea, but doss is the true exception
