Oh yeah man, amen to that!

To be honest he prolly felt nothing. But try this not with your life or other people life on the line and that’s a shit ton of pain
What did he have?
He probably did. We’ve had our own moments of extreme determination. His morals were extremely important to him. He refused to stop. Not to mention he probably thought the pain they were in was much worse than paint he could ever feel.
0:46 honestly every time he tells someone he's coming back for them it makes my heart go a little mushy. On the battlefield it really becomes every man for himself, I can't imagine how much of a relief it would be to hear those words when you think you're about to die alone and that nobody is left to help you.
Edit: by every man for himself I meant literally every person in this video clip who thought nobody was going to be around to save them you dinguses, now stop fighting
Yeah exactly. Especially Doss too, you know damn well he IS coming back. At least I did since I've seen all his feats but idk if the soldiers knew he would actually come back.
It not ever man for himself in the America military. We don't fight for hate of the enemy, or even love of country. During the fight, its all about the men to the left or right of you.
Nobody gets left behind in the American military. Both the army and the marines have the brother and sisterhood mentality in battle. The men and women to your left and right are like family, and if you abandon them on the battlefield when they need you the most then there’s a special place in hell for you. Real life isn’t like the video games or movies kid. My dad served in the marines as an infantryman in the Cold War. When he got out at the age of 25 he was at his parent’s house and saw on the TV his fellow marines were still over there fighting and dying for their country. He stood up and said “I’ve gotta go back out there”. He was walking to the door to leave but my grandmother stopped him and convinced him to stay.

I and my wife had the honor of meeting Desmond Doss back in the early 1990's in CT. Such a humble man, so small in stature, and yet a giant in America's military history. The book was much better than the video but the video was a good summation of what really happened. I'd imagine that Mel Gibson likely thought: "I'll have to tone it down a bit, too much content for a short movie"
Thats exactly what happened. He tones down the actual events because he thought they’d be too unbelievable
Of all the soldiers he helped, the Japanese one is the one that hits the hardest.
He doesn't even hesitate, as soon as he acknowledged his presence, he immediately noticed his wounds and without a second thought went to help him. The way the Japanese soldier also realizes that and just "relax" and let him do his work, only to see the relief of the morphine.
At that moment, there wasn't a Japanese soldier and an American soldier, there was a medic and a patient.
that´s because he didn´t see an enemy there, but a human being...

@@user-cs9mc2gx8b 5:58
It’s never the people that hate each other. From my history class, the German people were struggling after WW1 and, when presented with a scapegoat (the jews, slavs, etc.) for their problems, they took it just to have something to direct their attention towards. That’s not to say there weren’t anti-semetic people in Germany, just that most people wouldn’t ordinarily have a problem with semetics, and only did when Hitler published Mein Kamf.
It’s a human flaw to seek reasons for hardship and punish said reason, often the blame is thrown impulsively and people will turn against whoever is considered a suspect (regardless of actual guilt). It’s hard to clear your name when everyone is determined and desperate it’s you, and reasoning is practically forgotten when emotions get high.
If someone says “this is the cause of your pain,” it’s fair to say that people want to get rid of the cause.
This movie really wowed me. I’m not a huge fan of war movies, but this one was completely different. Andrew Garfield deserved the Oscar nomination because he brought every ounce of courage and strength to Desmond Doss. The most touching scene in this clip is when Desmond calmed the Japanese soldier and even gave him morphine. He was the kindest soul to both his men and the enemy’s men. You don’t see that every day. Again, just 🤩.

I really do like that scene where he comes across the Japanese soldier who was wounded. Simple acts of kindness like that is what we need more often.
Patricia Gullickson Ummm. Bandaging the wounded man and giving him morphine was an act of kindness. Yes they were enemies; but Pvt. Doss saw past that and showed Mercy. God cannot accept imperfectness and we are imperfect cause we are sinners. People need salvation because god is perfect. God loves sinners (us) so much that his son Jesus Christ died in the cross for our sins so we can repent and follow him. The door is still open to this day! But there will be a time where that door will be shut. We cannot earn our salvation through good things we do. Salvation is through repenting of your sins, believing on what Jesus Christ did, and follow his ways. This is the gift from god here. Jesus became sin and died so we can have a clean record. John 3:16 For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.a

Desmond Doss was a true hero, he helped his friends and the enemy because he saw no difference, he was a man of God, I wished I could have met him...and Andrew Garfield did an exceptional job in this movie, he definitely deserved an Oscar for this just as the movie itself did as well as Mel Gibson for his directing:)a truly wonderful movie
Jennee Reedus too back the people in charge of the Oscars had Mel Gibson to the point that they refuse to give him, or anyone in his movie, awards when he/they clearly deserves it.
Jennee Reedus yes he was
Jennee Reedus heroes are the ones who do what they have to do. The ones who make the tough choices. What Desmond did was very honorable because he saved so many lives, but he is no leader. True heroes know there duty, and that is to fight as a good soldier does. Desmond did not fight for his Country. He did not fight so his brothers could go home. He fought for himself and his own spiritual enlightenment. If everyone was like him we would all be defeated. So no, he is not someone to marvel at.
TheTyler701 Saving wounded soldiers and helping them go home IS heroic. Heroism isn't just patriotism. Patriotism is only one type of heroism.

(e.g. Doss actually jumped on a grenade and *_lived_* and the grenade that injured his leg, he wasn't pulled out on a stretcher, he _crawled_ *300 meters* back to safety. *_And took a bullet for another soldier when he was crawling.)_*
Told by the person who made shit up. Yeah i could say i was hitler’s son 50 years from now and people would believe me. it’s a show made based on a story, whether its true or not nobody will truly know
Modern Medicine Desmond actually told the story dumbass
@@modernmedicine2562 *sigh*
Modern Medicine Hey dumbass they hooked him up to a lie detector and it was all truth
"Please God, help me get one more" when i heard that in the theaters, damn. I was in tears.
Ex Creed
It always gets me too, especially set against the soundtrack and the montage of him bringing in soldier after soldier. When it's clear he's starting to get exhausted but he's still going, it just hits even harder.
This scene always gets me in tears
I say it at work, Please Lord, help me get one more! His faith had kept him alive. Strong as he was, his Bible was not far from him. Desmond Doss, Thank you
@@williampuakahuhua2974 He carried it until the end!
Jesus Christ is lord of all! God bless you all!
History truly is more inspiring than fiction.
Not a cellphone in sight, just people living the moment
Desmod Doss: Saves 75 people
Japan's Army: Wait that's illegal
How
Ehhhem I believe the correct pronunciation is irregal
I’ll see myself out
Technically they tried to kill a medic
@@senzo8939 they didn't know he was a medic since he didn't have markings, but the Japanese still targeted medics so it wouldn't have made much of a difference
I don't remember who it was that said this, but someone once said "All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers" Desmond proved that when helped even his enemies.
Chuck Lee because there is only one race and that is human
Albert Einstein
Captain Holy Humanity is a specie, not a race.
Chuck Lee that is so true

Bernel Button he was playing siege with rook and doc bc he used a few stims and gave ppl stuff to stop bleeding /rooks plates
Breh that doc is trolling hes stiming the enemy team big ole rip
No he dies and respawns, it just doesn't show those parts
U kids are pathetic
Mark Clark who’s more pathetic the ones enjoying themselves or the one who can’t keep there mouth shut when they don’t like something
Micheal bay: "this isn't historically accurate enough, there should be an explosion every millisecond"
They called in a air strike from ships and they didn’t show use eny one telling them to stop so
Master TopHatter An airstrike doesnt come from a ship...
He sleeps to the sounds of explosions, it's his ASMR.

Making fun of the Vietnamese dudes comment huh?
Desmond doss has a bible to protect him what a legend
What ppl don't know is that he went to war putting on the armor of God 🙏🏿
Or luck
@@chrisbuesnell3428 Luck doesnt exist something like that, If you survived a war like that you've clearly been protected by a higher power
@@Layerlol
Well the higher power seems pretty selective. I suppose Allah protects his own. Jesus his own. Krishna his own. And not forgetting the Flying Spaghetti monster.
My great uncle had no higher power. He was killed at Sandaken in may 1945. That's the trouble with a God belief.
Coz he's a Christian.
I love that he tied the knot that the sergeant made fun of him for in the beginning
