    In this hands-on review of the gigantic Wacom Cintiq 27 QHD Touch, I'll discuss the display tablet's specs, features and how it compares to the previous Cintiq 24HD model. I'll also demonstrate drawing on the quad-HD screen using a pressure sensitive pen and navigate with multi-touch. I have my Cintiq 27 QHD Touch mounted to an Ergotron LX arm which lets me position the screen in almost any position.

      Hey thanks for the vid. You said it needs to be connected to a desktop computer, does that mean it doesn't connect to, for example, an iPad, which I'm currently using to paint in procreate? I don't have any other computer, so this is a really pertinent question before I buy. Thanks

    I'm waiting for you to test out the new 24in or the 32in wacom . I understand the glass is thinner that makes the pen point closer to the lines you draw plus its 4k . From your opinion as a digital artist do you think that will make a big difference from what you use now . The price will drop some on the 27in . Would you rather keep painting with the 27in or go with the new Wacom 32 or 24in 4k and how has the 27 in worked out for you so for . I need to know is it going to be worth waiting for the new wacom 4k or just save the money and get the 27in . Thanks

    Hey Aaron, thanks for the great review. Does the Ergotron LX move while you are drawing if you have the screen up in say a standing position, where the edge of the Cintiq is not resting against the desk? In other words does if feel at all shaky when you are drawing that way? I noticed there is also an Ergotron LX HD, which is labeled as a sit/stand arm and didn't really understand the difference. I have been wanting to get something similar to your setup and am near to having enough saved. That said the new 16" Cintiq and Mobile Studio Pro also have my interest piqued because of their ability to use them in casual settings.

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can control the resistance to make it more or less rigid. I can vouch for the Ergotron LX. Don't know anything about the other models. 27 is nice because of its size. If portability outweighs size, then the MobileStudio is a good choice.

    I’ve been thinking to get this tablet, but adding the touch makes it more expensive than it already is....I’m just wondering if the touch screen is worth it? You say we can simply turn off the touch, so does it actually help to draw?

    This is probably going to be a stupid question, but can I use the cintiq as a single computer monitor? or do I still need to have a regular one? I only have laptops, and I hate that I have to spend another thousand for a desk top, I feel it would be cheaper if I just get the tower, so I'm hoping I can use the cintiq as a single monitor.

    I am curious if this is the same machine as the Dell Canvas or if this is a superior machine to the dell canvas? One other question is because this are costly is there anywhere in the Satae of Washington you know of where I can try one out in person, before I buy one? Thank you.

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some minor differences, but the Dell Canvas is using the same basic tech as the Cintiq 27 QHD. Or in other words, it's a Wacom Cintiq 27 with a Dell logo on it. My friend, Lawrence has one of each and has a video that may be helpful: th-cam.com/video/9iSYl2dlCs0/w-d-xo.html
      I don't know of any retailers that stock demo Cintiqs. You might find a Dell Canvas at Best Buy, but I don't know for sure if they will have demo units or even stock them. There is a Wacom showroom in Portland, if you don't mind a drive. Tell 'em Aaron Rutten sent you: facebook.com/wacomexperiencecenter/?rf=231444910552166

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I get the opportunity, I will. From what I can tell, they are basically just Cintiq Companions with better specs. I'd be most interested in battery life and screen brightness more than anything else. I can recommend the Companion 2, so I think it's safe to say the Mobile Studio Pros are pretty good tablets.

    Can you please tell me is it worth selling the Cintiq 24HD Touch and buying the Cintiq 27QHD Touch just to get a bit crispier / sharper picture resolution wise , comparing 1920x1200 on 24" monitor vs 2560x1440 on 27" monitor, is it much sharper better or it's not worth it?
    Thanks in advance

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 27 QHD is sharper, but what's more important is that you can fit a lot more on a QHD screen. Not just because it's a few inches larger, but because the resolution is higher. That means palettes can take up less of your screen and you have more room for artwork. I went from the 24 to the 27 and it was a noticeable difference for me. You'd really have to see QHD side by side with 1080p for the difference in sharpness to be perceptible.

      I run Mid 2015 Macbook Pro 15" , do you think that HDMI 2.0 on the Mac will support 27" Cintiq in full resolution ? I tested my 30" Dell at 2560x1600 on HDMI and it's fine, the other 2 mini display ports are already taken by 2 other monitors , so I run 3 external monitors total including Cintiq 24 via HDMI @ 1920x1200, thanks for the answer Aaron

  • @sopl33
    @sopl33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been trying to research the answer to my question but I'm still a bit unsure, does anyone know if this would work with a MacBook Pro 13 inch (1yr old)? I've come to understand (not so much lol) that a graphics card with DisplayPort is required for the full QHD, but have no idea what any of this means and if I could add to my Macbook to get this if it's not already capable.. I know this is a very vague and long question but any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Aaron - Hey I dont know much about these things, Im not an artist. But my fiance' is an artist and relatively new to the digital art world. Currently she has an Ipad pro 12" - would this Wacom 27 be a great improvement over her Ipad? Also, is this like the top of the line that Wacom produces? Thanks for any help you can offer.

    • @EGODINGO32
      @EGODINGO32 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Wacom 27QHD is meant for more serious hobbyists or for studios and whatnot. While the iPad is very good for creating illustration art, especially with art apps like procreate, sketchbook pro, clip studio paint, etc, the Wacom 27QHD is more for desktop programs, especially for 3D modelling, animation programs. Overall, for a small budget and mobility, the iPad is meant for everyday use while if you want to do more with heavier art programs and 3D applications., the 27QHD is one of the best for it, especially with how big the screen is, it makes creating art a lot easier, however you are stuck to a desk instead of being able to walk around with an iPad, plus you would need a very good computer that's able to render the 3D animation and models, which would cost more than just buying a monitor.

    • @EGODINGO32
      @EGODINGO32 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your fiancé wants to get more into digital art, I would recommend getting the Wacom MobileStudio pro 16". It cost just about the same as the Cintiq 27QHD but it comes built in a powerful Windows10 tablet that can take on 3D art programs on the go. There's a lot on there that is much better for your buck, plus its portable so you can take it with you to different locations. It's about as heavy as a laptop but it's the best tablet out in the market right now. I hope this advice helps.

      Abc 123 Its essentially just a fancy monitor but it's probably a better investment (if you can actually afford one) than the new mobile studio version because it's separate to the pc running it as unlike the mobile studio the separate pc can be upgraded as new tech becomes available.

  • @gosztonnyino
    @gosztonnyino 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    why is it nice that the buttons aren't built into the device? You didn't really give a reason for that.

    • @aaronrutten
      @aaronrutten  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      - Because you're not holding the tablet while working, the buttons are not in an ergonomic location if they are on the tablet surface. It's more comfortable when working long-term to hold the remote or set it somewhere close, like your keyboard or mouse would be. For the same reason, TVs and lots of other devices have remotes. It just makes sense. However, if you were using a smaller tablet such as the Intuos or MobileStudio Pro, your hands would already be on the tablet, so integrated buttons would make more sense.
      - Lessens fatigue. Holding your arm up while drawing on a vertical screen gets tiring if you're working for hours on end. It gets even worse if you have to hold both arms out. If you're holding the remote, you can rest your arm as you would normally.
      - The buttons could interfere with your palm or pen if you gesture off of the screen area.
      - Aesthetically, it looks nicer to have a completely smooth border around the screen.
      - The remote can be used on other Wacom devices and even non-Wacom devices that use Bluetooth. This adds value to users who own more than one device.
