Hey Ruben. Always good content. I’m an old (ex) installer. I installed in the 90s and early 2000s. Much of what you do is how I did it. There’s no short cuts to a lasting install. In my last year in the trade, I was a QC guy. I couldn’t believe what some respected installers would try to get away with. I’m brushing up on skills and techniques so I can get back into restretching and cleaning for something to do in retirement. I am super interested in the Triforce and now the Kneeless for that type of work. I have a Crain Jr stretcher...which would you buy? The Kneeless looks easier to carry in but requires more stretches to get the job done...yes?
Actually the techniques are almost identical between the Kneeless and the Triforce , The kneeless is the one I prefer because it is smaller and more convenient which makes it easier to use
Hey man! I’m a fairly new installer, about 3 years, I was wondering where you got that kneeless kicker. I’ve looked online and seen a few, but they don’t look anything like that one. Thanks a lot and I just wanted to say that I’ve learned more stuff from your videos than I have in most of my schooling.
That’s really awesome man, thank you for sharing that and here is a link for the kneeless, I will tell Yes that it is going to be more expensive than the Japanese ones that you see elsewhere but this one is built to last a lifetime kneeless.com/
I was going to buy a Crain pole stretcher a couple of years ago after seeing you using yours but no one had one in stock and there was a long wait for one to come over from America. I really didn't want to just use a kicker anymore so bought a mini stretcher. Combined with my kicker, I was tensioning carpets. Then I came across the Kneeless. Couldn't justify spending so much on a tool I wasn't sure about so bought a China copy for half the price. It's a copy of the previous all metal model with the angled front head rather than the new version, that you have, that has the squared off head with angled lines on it. I don't see that as being an improvement. They work that's for sure. I've fitted for 'kicker fitters' who have prepped gripper on concrete the way they would to use a kicker and my kneeless has pulled it off the floor with the tension it creates. I would like to buy a genuine kneeless as I like to support the original company but I'm not keen on the new version. BTW, do you know what has happened to carpet Mike? He hasn't posted a vid for a good while 🤔
love the videos . I’m installing carpet in my upstairs . First time I have done multiple rooms . The part I’m having trouble with is the hallway. It’s not a straight hallway . It is about 10’ long of 4’ wide Then bumps out to the right and the remaining is about 6’ and terminates at the master bedroom . There is about 4 doors in the 6 foot section that needs to be seamed . I’m just not sure where to begin to stretch from with that outside 90 on the right where the hallway opens up to the large section . Any tips ? So the floor plan is standing in the door way of the master looking down the hall you are.in the 6x6 section at the top of the stairs. To the right is the top of the stairs. The the left is a linen closet and then doorway to the bathroom. Then at about the 6ft away from the master the hall bumps out to the right about 3.5 to 4 ‘ then the rest of the hall is about a 10’ straight run with a bed room on the right and left directly across from each other then terminating with a bedroom at the end that cont straight through to a 15x 20 bedroom . Sorry I know that was a lot. I love to hear your thoughts on how to stretch this and if it would make it easier, I could draw it out for you an email to you.😂🤷🏻♂️
You can the kneeless stretching the carpet super tight even on the seam!! Your kneeless looks different to mine, my kneeless head is part plastic part metal is yours the same?
I also power stretch is it ok to stretch the join in the length on the tape sometimes when I stretch across it causes the tape to become lumpy so the only way to get rid of it is to stretch the tape I have done a few tests and pulled carpet back when stretched and it hadn't caused any damage to tape. Your thoughts please.
How much does a a whole house job be worth of just carpet installation? I have done only glue down carpet/ carpet tile. Might think about getting an llc to start doing this kind of carpet
That’s totally going to depend on your area, prices vary big-time, I am finishing up 140 yards and charged $955 for installation only , That is three bedrooms and a hallway and a living room, And I feel that that was a little cheap
It’s a kneeless and it’s the best and hardest stretcher to learn. He isn’t using it right. It will give a better stretch than the old school pole power stretcher if used correct
Unfortunately I have carpet in a mobile home installed under the walls and no tack strips holding the carpet, do you have a video showing how I can stretch the carpet then hold it place, or tell me how.
Wait. You said you would never use the triforce stretchers or stretchers of that kind. You said don't be lazy and get the tubes out. In old videos. Lol. I bought a frog stretcher a while ago and use it often.
I still use my pole stretches on every carpet job, this is for setting walls and closets, in places where I would usually use a kicker, now I do not have to kick
Ruben, you should know better than to promote that useless tool. That kneeless stretcher does not properly stretch carpet. I see you understand that because you actually use the power stretcher alongside it. I can only see this tool being useful in really small closets. You can see that this tool only stretches from the back end of the tool, to the front. It does NOT stretch the carpet from the opposite side of the wall. You can also see the bubbles it forms behind the tool, when the knee goes into the padded base. This is not a proper tool for power stretching carpet. And at $419!!?? No, I'll keep my money, thank you.
Most definitely is not for power stretching, I only use it for setting walls and such, pretty much anywhere I would use a kicker I use this, I will never stray from my pole stretchers
Ruben is the best, most honest installer I've seen on youtube or anywhere else.
😀👍thank you sir
I hope you know how valuable this channel is to us. Much appreciated.

Great demo I usually 45 my corners to make it a little easier when your stretching so the corners don’t get bunched up and are in your way
Great video! Most my re stretch jobs are hallways and doorway entries to the hallway.
I believe that
Wow, man, you have grown a lot! So professional video. My respect.

I have one if you want it but it’s very slow and cumbersome
I have multiple kneeless stretchers as well. I swear by them

What is the benefit to stretching a couple feet on the side wall before u tuck in the starting wall.just noticed some people do it and some don’t.
If you get tension on the carpet it is sure not to pull off of the tack strip when you stretch
