    The dead man that's an old-school trick. I carried a four-foot deadman with handles on the top in my truck. You need more poles so you can choke your tubes to the second or third hole on both ends of your tubes. You can also use two opposing kickers in the middle of your tubes to prevent the tubes from snaking. In large rooms, I had a senior stretcher so that's what I used.

    That's a great idea. A lot of people would have just ran through with a knee kicker, tucked it and been gone. Love seeing people that take pride in their work and doing things right. ✌

    Great job rueben, the guy who trained me ( 31 years ago) had a couple of power stretcher mini poles that had a spur like accessories on the side that would prevent the bowing of poles. I still power stretch but have never seen them since. Thanks!

      Someone said something about using kickers to keep your poles from bowing Which is a great idea

    That is awesome! A little tip and maybe you know this but you can use your kicker to hold the middle of the poles from bowing. Comes from working by myself all the time.

    Run your polls thru a cpt tube and it will help on keeping your polls straight and keep from bending one.

    genius! so if you do happen to have the proper amount of poles to stretch the entire length and could do so without bending poles, would that be ok?

    Been there, had 73,6 in a basement, stretch wasnt to rough, getting it inside and downstairs was the hard part.

    ❤ you should have depicted double strip on your stretch walls as well and you can take a Tacker and some old rope and make candles on each end of that(( Deadman 2x 12)) I've graduated from stretching 25 years ago went to strictly hard surface surface floating lobbies mud beds flash cove no one should have to stay in that Relentless hard work forever yak yak yak I pray for your k n e e s if you have any left

    Good job it’s that a senior power stretcher or a junior ? I’ve only done that about 2 times.

    Put your knee kicker on the middle of the power stretcher it’ll hold it Straight

      I have tried that. Using 2 stretchers. When i have a helper. Stretch twice as fast. But i use dead man all the time when i am by myself. Good video

      Also. If its wood subfloor. I will nail a piece of carper at the ends of my board. So when i stretch the carper holds it in. You need a lot of nails or it will pop with all that pressure. I know its hard to visualize but it works works

    Great to see you doing some carpet!! In my opinion this is where the tri-force adapter for the power stretcher head would be so much easier.
    you should check out there videos on TH-cam I have one makes life a lot easier.

    So basically you created a deadman. Like the idea of the tack strip to the bottom of the board. Gonna use it now. I would of tried to nail the board down like tack strip.

    Probably should be using a senior stretcher anyway

    If you use a couple of carpet roll cores ,slide the stretcher poles through the carpet cores they won't bowe as much

  • @jesserodrigues5180

    Pole to pole connect .. don’t put it into the first hole.. go to the second one .. so on and so forth.. adds strength.. cuts a bit of length but makes it stronger no floppy poles lol(hate that stuff ) 🤙🏽🤙🏽

  • @shaundobbs4630

    i would have stretched off the corners, also put temp nails where board is, makes it a one man job but you can use kicker or your helper stand on poles to stop them bending. so glad i’m not laying after 35 years!

    Couple of 10ft sections Of 3 inch steel pipe just big enough to get stretcher tubes in an the pole won't bend!!!

  • @jameslucas746
    @jameslucas746 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good job.Even though using a dead man you are only capable of stretching maybe 25ft because of the weight actually your just going to get it laying flat.

      There are very few large stretch in jobs any more some restoration projects maybe those are 22inch carpet and are mainly hand sewn. I myself the largest to stretch in was a 66ft × 90ft I remember seaming because we used a whole roll of seam tape on one seam.T carpet had to be craned in .

    As a solo installer I'd love to see you bring the chunk of carpet down there. Also are you using tri tack or double stripping your tackstrip

  • @chadlaplante5370

    How many inches did you get out of that length? Just curious.

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chad LaPlante Well I didn’t measure but I got more going the other way so probably about 6 inches or so for the full room

  • @dustinmoore5894
    @dustinmoore5894 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have done this exact same thing but instead of a 2 by 12 I used an extra stretcher head and had my helper step on it

    • @dustinmoore5894
      @dustinmoore5894 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And to eliminate the bow in my poles I had another guy help guide them straight
