In Vodka Museum at Koneser Manufacture in Warsaw, there's an original pre-IIWW bottle of Baczewski Vodka, which had been stolen by 'customer' from a shop, and years later (when Baczewski Company was teared down by history) it's been (slighty tasted ;)) given back to Museum. The Baczewski Company was pre-war, most world know polish vodka brand. Been originally established in Lviv - today's Ukraine and restored last years after 7 decades of absence.

Yes, people in Poland do snuff tobacco, some people. Is quite popular in Kaszuby and Slask region. Usually not with vodka(but you can) its more like chewing tobacco in USA.
The difference between GOOD vodka and POOR vodka is lack of that 'bad' feeling after drink. Best quality vodkas don't demand any after-snacks. Polish weddings are traditionally based on vodka only. With accompany with *fatty food* they provide NO hangover next day. Drink vodka and eat - and you won't have any problems.
My way to hangover is that after drinking alcohol and before going to bed I drink about 3/4 to even a liter of still water. I get up in the morning without a hangover.
The "real Polish moonshine" is the answer as it is the original Polish vodka ... I started making it when I started literally "dying" the day after vodka from store. Now I can tell you that drinking "Polish moonshine" has nothing to do with hangovers after vodka from store ... I just wake up thirsty after drinking moonshine and thats all, no other bad things happening ...

Wyborowa that you drunk was not potato, but rye - you can see "pure polish rye" on label. 40 percent alcohol is not the strongest legal alcohol in Poland. In most of shops you can buy 96 % spirit. And I will say it is even opposite - because to legally call something "vodka" in Poland it has to be at least 37,5 % of alcohol. Regular flavored vodka is s*it. They have nothing in common with real fruits, juices etc. Those are artificially produced flavors added to vodka. There is large tradition of making your own liquors called "nalewki" in Poland. But they are homemade manufactured and are at totally different level than mass products. Theory about Żubrówka is not a theory. The name of this vodka originates from the common name of that grass which is inside the bottle, which of course has a lot in common with polish bison which is Żubr. The special taste of this vodka comes from this specie of grass. Enjoy Polish alcohol :). Na zdrowie!

It helps if you not only eat between shots but also have a smoke. Especially if you're indoors where smoking indoors is illegal. That way you're far less likely to get drunk... as I am now :D Should have picked up more polish sausages...way more!!

Charon's boat That Pawel guy forgot to let you taste Żubrowka with an apple juice. It is a big omission. The colour of Żubrówka comes from a grass blade in it. The blade should be collected from the place where Żubr was standing and pissing.

I personally don't usually drink vodka - I prefer some refreshing beer (cheers! :) ) buuuut... it's much better in the winter and when you're ill just make a shot with some pepper inside and you will sweat out the flu ;) and use some tobacco to sneeze your nose 👍It can really help :) You should also try a bison grass vodka drink with an apple juice - we call it apple pie yummy! 🙃

Sniffing tobacco it's an old tradition that began in XV century. Nowdays it's not popular, and mayby only some teenagers or some old people are sniffing it but its rare. Betweeen 1996 and 2000 it was illegal to sell it or make it.

Wódka Wyborowa and Wódka Wiśniowa (cherry vodka) were two vodkas I tried Winter 1971 in Warsaw. They helped with the Polish Winter!

"Polonaise Wiśniowy" - definitely recomended. The best cherry vodka in Poland. And try to find Starka vodka 10 years old or older.

I personally don't usually drink vodka - I prefer some refreshing beer (cheers! :) ) buuuut... it's much better in the winter and when you're ill just make a shot with some pepper inside and you will sweat out the flu ;) and use some tobacco to sneeze your nose 👍It can really help :)
You should also try a bison grass vodka drink with an apple juice - we call it apple pie yummy! 🙃

I also don't have such friends and colleagues from work. Sure, there are not numerous persons known as "fenole", "chlory", "fluory" (phenol, chlorium, fluorine) which are responsible for this myth. Some of them work in a tourist segment. :P
Every bottle should be covered by frost, they don`t look like they were chilled enough. Maybe żubrówka tasted as it was.

Clear and frozen that it seems to be oily. And I have never heard about sniffing tobacco and drinking vodka at the same time.
At my place we called theses shots Kaszubian. Sniff, drink, sniff and try to not drink any juice or water after this ;) You should try this, I recommend it.

Sniffing tobacco it's an old tradition that began in XV century. Nowdays it's not popular, and mayby only some teenagers or some old people are sniffing it but its rare. Betweeen 1996 and 2000 it was illegal to sell it or make it.
First rule when you drink wódka, don't smell it! And eat much. :D
