Unfortunatelly the experiment should be repeated. Vodka must be chilled not freeze so, you could really feel all the flavor. 😊
hello im from poand i wanted only to say 1 thing - pigwa is not peach. peach is brzoskwinia. pigwa is more like very small sour apple. fits perfectly with a tea

"Cytryna i pigwa" is actually lemon and quince. ;)
"Na zdrowie" literally means "on health". The other versions can be:
-"Zdrówko!" = It's like an euphemism of the word "health".
-"Do dna" = "To the bottom".
- (Hard level) "Chluśniem, bo uśniem." = (Let's/we'll) Splash, cause (we'll) fall asleep. :) Something like that.

@@RobReacts1 MORE LOVE as I call it is way better when it is NOT cold. Cold kills the sweetness and makes the sharpness up front. It's my favorite thus I've tested it in all ways and cold morelove is a NO NO, sandpaper on a throat :D

28% is really little. When you are next in Poland, for example in Małopolska, try a local vodka called "Śliwowica Łącka". This vodka has 70% and it really kicks. My family from Podhale also produces it, as do other residents of this region.Greetings from Krakow :)

Soplica flavored is not WÓDKA (vodka), it's "Nalewka" something like a liqueur. Vodka must contain around 40% alcohol.

Cóż, nie ma co wymagac od cudzoziemców, by orientowali sie takich zawiłościach jak wódka czysta , okowita, destylat czy nalewka... :) plus cala rzesza wódek smakowych...

My favourite Soplica is hazelnut. There is also hazelnut in chocolate, really good.
While in Poland, try homemade liqueurs. I warn you, they are strong because they usually contain more than 45% alcohol, of course we use it for medicinal purposes xD

(A tip) Don,t drink unflavoured "Soplica", it's disgussting. If you been next time in Poland and have to buy unflavoured vodka for Yourself or for a gift, ask for "Bocian"(Stork) in alcohol shop. This one is the last with good taste, the others vodkas many people call chemistry becouse where better in past . Now You have hangover like from UK to the USA 🙂 .
Hi Rob, great episode, however one disclaimer. First one was not lemon and peach, but lemon and quince, very sour fruit, similiar to lemon, popular in Poland ESP. for bevereges.

Fun fact - raspberry home made vodka (malinowa nalewka) used to be, and for some people still is the best cure for common cold. Hazelnut home made vodka tho is very good cure for problem with your stomach for example on the party where you ate too much :D

Charlie was not far off, initially we won in 1989, it 'actually' ended in 1990. but the soviet (then russian) troupes only left poland in late 1993
Poland overthrew communism on June 4, 1989, but the entire transformation officially ended on December 31, 1989. Nevertheless, the fact is that from June 4, 1989, communism no longer existed in Poland.

"Black currant" is the best !
Not gonna brag, but in Poland this is really light drink. I am one of the rare type of Pole that don't drink alkohol too much, but I can drink that like normal juice.
When it comes to flavor, yeah, soplica is really good.
But nice :D Try more stuff that other people recommend :D

As a Pole I have to say here in Poland you would just drink the whole bottle at once
You cool ancohol to soften/mute its taste. Good booze is to drink in room temperature so you could enjoy its taste to the fullest. Only bad one needs to be colled.
ps: Those glases were kinda big. Usually we use half that size. And eat before shoots. Way you did ir is straight road to get wasted quickly.

Did you know that Soplica, next to the name of the alcohol, is the name of one of the characters in one of the most important books in Polish literature?
Initially, this antagonist had a negative character, later it was an act of penance and he became a priest, and the film "There is also a song, a song he sings" by Grzegorz Turnau and Stanisław Sojka was based on this literary work. The text of the Book is written in Old Polish and contains rhymes.

Raczej to wszystko zależy od gustu. Od tego co kto lubi i jak mu smakuje. A prawdą jest, iż alkohol na ciepło mało kiedy jest dobry. No chyba, że jest to wino, grzaniec, albo miód,to wtedy tak. Ale i tak zawsze decyduje gust, który każdy ma inny.
czysta też powinna być pita w temperaturze pokojowej. no chyba, że pijesz parkową to wtedy schładzaj na maksa.

OMG. I feel sorry for you Charlie. I would drink 1 glass, slowly, and with some dessert or cake. My favorite flavor is raspberry or blackcurrant. I also like the sweet coffee-flavored egg liqueur "krupnik". It tastes good with chocolate or cream ice cream. Of course, a small amount, only for serving🤗💓. In Poland, the most popular were not vodka, but meads and fruit liqueurs. The latter are made at home. My uncle makes excellent liqueurs.

You should taste normal 40% or 50% alkohol Polish fruit vodka. In Poland, fruit vodka is actually called "nalewka" like a liqueur. Because most often Poles drink pure strong vodka 40% - 50% alc. which itself has different flavors (cereal, potato, etc.) I also recommend homemade vodkas, which are even stronger than pure vodka, because they usually have 50% - 70% alc. but they are better tasting. We call it homemade vodka as "bimber".
Cherry is good with Coke, in proportion 1/3. You may add a slice of the lemon and You have drink served in pubs in your home 🙂.

Few Years earlier all flavoured vodka has more alcohol, like 38%, and then year after year companies add smaller and smaller amount of alcohol 🙂

Charlie, as I am Polish and don't like alcohol. I was with you during this test.
If you have to try some Polish alcohol next time (vodkas, liqueurs) then choose salted caramel flavour.
Oh, and maybe vodka Żubrówka or Żołądkowa to try. For women, liqueurs, tinctures, and meads are more suitable.
"Morelowy" means made from apricot.
At parties, Poles tend to make drinks from these different vodkas and mix them with different ingredients. \
It is more during weddings that pure vodka is served.

@RobReacts1 there's a general rule at tasting: taste at room temp. Note, tasting, not drinking. You also shall use a better glass to first check the nose, and later the taste. And thats because frozen doesn't really taste nor smell. Freezing is a method to reduce unwanted tastes in bad quality vodka, achieve drinkability of herbals or to drink more vodka by heavy drinkers that just want to be drank, no matter what they drink :) For recreational drinking, one shall freeze herbal liquers, strongly chill good quality vodka, and just slightly chill or leave at room temp the sweet and fruity stuff. Though, what most Poles will say is to freeze everything over 20%, and that nothing under 40% is vodka... 😅

my favorite vodka is Soplica orzech włoski (walnut ) and Soplica truskawkowa (strawberry) and Wodka Żubrowka. Soplica orzech wloski I drink with milk and Zubrowka with apple juice :-)

Whole bottle is a one shot. I am impressed how you menage to pour 2 glass shots out of it. Fun fact - this type of wódka in poland is called "Małpka", which means tiny monkey, dont ask me why.

You mean the Soplica's flavored vodka is not technically a vodka. Soplica also offers pure vodka (40%) which is technically a vodka.

Ps2: in Polish there are Wiśnie and Czereśnie. Both are Cherry in English. Czereśnia has darker fruits, more concentrate in flavor, and less available and more pricey.

In general orzechówki, not only hazelnut, are among best tasting vodka.
If you want to taste a really good flavored vodka but not from Soplica then, with clean conscience, I can advertise to you Krupnik Old Liqueur (Honey Vodka).
We have orzechówka in Sopot on Niepodległości street for sure (I used to work in that spot lol)
Czereśnia is dark cherry and it's the best cherry ♥️

Whole bottle is one shot. We drink it for any occasion, good weather, nice morning, shopping, working, for good sleeping xD
Toruńska chrzanowa, stara ruda żołądkowa gorzka, żubrówka z trawą, jabłkowa, gruszkowa, kawowa, anyżowa, jałowcowa, grejfrutowa, miętowa (jabłko-mięta), czekoladowa... A najlepsza jest deptucha z kwiatów akacji;)
+ smaki których nie kupisz w żadnym sklepie np z sosny (igliwie/czubki sosny)...

As if I saw a Polish couple. The husband was clearly excited about the alcohol test, the wife, judging by her face, not so much. But 2-3 Polish vodkas and it was great. Life can be beautiful :)

Wrocław is the Venice of Poland, although Pułtusk is considered the Venice of Masovia. Pułtusk also has the largest paved market square in Europe ❤
Flavored vodka is my favorite one. Sadly ,theres no mango taste here, but it may be from ''Wyborowa''.
About the beer - Lomza and Perla miodowa (honey taste) are my favorite ones.
