Wieliczka Salt Mine is the unique place in the whole world. And it is one of the oldest company which still working (now only as a museum, but not long ago they've been digging salt as they've done before). Part of the money they made in this mine went as a donation to the Krakow's University. Down below the Chapel is hospital for people with breathing problems, because the air in the mine is very clean and helps to recover from asthma or other lung deseas. I made this trip three times and I always been so stunned by the beauty and charm of this place. I'm not about exagerrating, but this place can be compared with Egiptian Pyramids and Rome's Colosseum or Tajmahal Palace. It is heritage of all mankind and definitely worth to visit. By the way - got a beer in underground restaurant?
@@BeerForBreakfast There is another salt mine accesible for tourists in town of Bochnia (30km eastward from Krakow). It is not that decorative like Wieliczka, but they have many other attractions like train tour or slip slide in the salty tube ;) And not that many visitors.
Well... There's a Salt Cathedral also in Zipaquirá, on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia. Similar concept, and it's also impressive! :) But yes, I would still say Wieliczka is better :).
Great video. IMO This Salt Mine in Poland is wonderful and deserves to be called one of several Wonders of the World. This was probably done by free people, miners centuries ago, voluntarily, except for their usual work
If you are still in Kraków I highly recommend a trip to Zakopane. You can take a coach there from the central station. It’s what we call the winter capital. If you do go there you can take a cable car that takes you 2000 m up to the top of a mountain called Kasprowy Wierch. You can also hike to morskie oko, a lake in between mountains. There are tons of shops, bars and restaurants in Zakopane too.
A similar salt mine for Wieliczka, and located near, but 40 years older, is the salt mine in Bochnia, founded in 1248. Till the end of the eighteenth century both mines constituted one enterprise. The exploitation of its salt deposits in Bochnia was completely stopped only in 1996. You can also tour it. The specificity of this mine is the underground sanatorium for people with respiratory and pulmonary allergic diseases. Patients spend nights at Ważyn Chamber, located at a depth of about 250 meters and having a specific microclimate. An underground sports field with an area of almost 300 m2 and a mini playground are attractions for those who prefer active leisure.
Amazing salt mine! Bonus points are Justina's facial expressions throughout and clear desire to pick everything along the way..(understandable) And the opening scene of this vid...hilarious! Moooreee!!
I've seen a few pictures before but you taking us along with you made it so much real. The sculpturing in those churches is both amazing and moving. Honestly, when you first said something to the effect about "licking the walls"... I heard something entirely different... hahaha! Thanks again for taking us with you to this spectacular place. Cheers, Ladies!
When it's up to 30-35 degrees celcius on the surface, down there is about 20-21 like a natural aircondition but at the last parts of tour it drops to 18 or even 17 and that feels quite chilly after over an hour in that temperature;p.
Wieliczka is beautiful and very healthy place (for lungs). There is another salt mine around in the town Bochnia - I used to be there on a school trip and we slept and lived there for couple of days - there was a full infrastructure even basketball court :D there is a chance to sleep over there couple times a year or rent it for a group ;) The nearest sleep over in that salt mine is .... next week! So girls! Think about it! :D
Legendary Mine of Moria !!! That's Tolkien's dream. You've fund it. In the fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien, Moria, is a fabulous and ancient subterranean complex in north-western Middle-earth, comprising a vast labyrinthine network of tunnels, chambers, mines and huge halls. The complex ran under and ultimately through the Misty Mountains. Moria is one of the wonders of the world of Middle-earth.
So good you visited Wieliczka salt mine! An amazing place where - as you said - people can spend time at the concert or ... New Year Party, which is very famous in Southern Poland. On Saturday last weekend I was exactly there 😉 Take care girls!!
@@BeerForBreakfast My elder brother lives in Wieliczka. One year ago in November he let me know he got three tickets for a jazz concert underground in Wieliczka Mine. It was tribute to Tomasz Stanko, a famous Polish jazz musician (see this: www.theguardian.com/music/2018/jul/30/tomasz-stanko-jazz-trumpeter-dies).So I went there with him and his wife. It was magical experience! As for the New Years Party in Wieliczka Mine, I must say I wasn't lucky and I never took part in it. The tickets usually are sold after a few hours. Best regards from Wroclaw !
Waaaw! I've got to see this place someday. I love seeing unique museums such as this one. I could spend the whole day licking around. Uh... sorry, I mean looking around. Lol! Wonder if they sell salt souvenirs from the mine. Anyway, an another awesome video from Micha and Justina. Thanks! 😋
@@raymonortiz3084 I'll be more serious. Once I took my English friends to Poland. Their experience was: 'we've never seen anything like this before'. You're welcome anytime, and go out of bitten paths and see real Poland, small towns and villages. They're unbelievably welcoming and you can feel like home. Good luck!
*Woot so now i have this video and yesterdays video to watch :3.... That's some salty architecture in there* *...... by the way that music at **9:00** sounds so call of duty-ish* *ohwell~* #cheerstofreedom

Yeah, it's very hard to listen to this woman and even despite young polish people are shy to speak english I think that like 95% of them would have better accent ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
We were there in March. Absolutely incredible

We couldn't agree more. What an amazing place. When we walked into the St. Kinga Chapel, we couldn't actually believe what we were seeing.

Omg I went here too! So cool to see it again. Great job guys!

Same, it was 1973 when I was there. What memories.
mine blowing :) There was someone that jumped bungee-jump in the salt mine. Due to the high selling or deep in the mine.

Of course. You can buy small sculptures made of salt just in the shop next to underground restaurant. Do not ask waiter for salt, it's on the wall ;)

Salt kills most of the bacteria :)
@@helenas7948 Exactly. You just don't lick the floor, or the sculptures. Otherwise, it's your lickfest.
