    I can confirm this actually works!😅 I’ve had DT for 6-months and was getting fed up. I tried these exercises for about a week and a half and the difference is staggering. Granted the first few days doing this was painful but I stopped if it went above a 7 in pain. I also found doing cardio that doesn’t aggravate the thumb and keeps it fairly static (peloton bike for example) greatly helps too as it increases the blood flow. Thank you son much for the advice, legend. 👊🏾

    JonDPT - Thank you for this ! I recently jacked my left wrist bad doing a lot of extremely hard twisting motions with both hands, trying to remove sprinklers from underground that had been there for a couple decades... I have extreme pain in this left wrist, now, for over 7 weeks... Heating pad seems to relieve some of it. Some CBD/THC balm seems to help a little also... I would love to try these exercises, but the pain especially if I move my left thumb even a little, towards my palm is really a 10+++... Will I ever get some relief from the pain, so I may be able to try these exercises, or do I just have to make it hurt like hell to try to make better??? Please advise.... I need both my hands working 120% almost every day... I hope and pray every day my Right wrist/hand does not break on me.... Thank you so much for all your help! Loved your very well made, informed, educational, video ! Guess my biggest question is - will the pain ever get to a level that I can then try to do these things you prescribe???? God Bless you and yours !! Fran Danco

      Hi there! Sorry to hear about your pain. It sounds like based on you pain rating that you may have significantly injured the tendon. If it does not progress you may want to meet with your MD to discuss and possibly get an MRI to confirm. I have personal pain rules as PT and one is no pain about 5/10 with exercise. So the answer is no, you shouldn’t be working through 10+ pain. If any movement of the thumb toward the palm is a 10+ I would recommend further examination and to meet in person with a hand therapist whether PT or OT to have an appropriate HEP be developed for you. Hope this helps and let me know if any other questions. Best wishes to you! 🙌

    I fell electric longboarding over a year ago and probably should have gone to the doctors but was stubborn. I randomly stumbled on this and thought I'd see, even though it doesn't usually hurt anymore, but gets a twinge with certain movements, and this test definitely triggered it. Is it normal to get this from a fall? I was going like 25 mph, and was lucky all things considered. Just wondering if it can be from acute injury, or if it might be something else causing it. Sir I got injury in this part during workout with heavy weight. Can I apply this exercise?

    • @JonDPTMayo
      @JonDPTMayo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. It depends. If your pain with exercise is above a 5/10 even with restricted range of motion then it’s possible you may have damaged a tendon and you will want to rest until you can perform the exercises with less than 5/10 pain. Be sure to let me know if any other questions. Best wishes to you! 🙌

    I’ve started having this intense pain about 5 days ago. It is worse at night and wakes me up. Is it ok to do these now when the tendons are inflamed?

    • @JonDPTMayo
      @JonDPTMayo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The research is mixed regarding using exercise as a treatment for inflammation. If pain is more than a 5/10 with movement I would avoid those particular movements for now and focus upon other forms of inflammation reduction such a icing and NSAIDs until it settles down. Hope this is helpful let me know if any other questions.

    Sadly, even if this therapy works, I am going back in day in and day out re-injuring my thumb at my job as a dental hygienist. I would have to have constant continued therapy a few times a week and there is not enough time and money for that. Unfortunately, I need a more permanent solution, tendon release surgery. I don’t know anyone who has had therapy and had it permanently work when they are going back everyday and doing to exact same thing that causes the inflammation in the first place. Of course it would work if I quit my job, but that isn’t going to happen.
