How to Tape De Quervain's Syndrome: Do It Yourself Taping to Stop Thumb Pain!

  • Looking for a way to stop sharp pain in your thumb and wrist? In this video, I'm sharing one of my favorite taping techniques for De Quervain's syndrome, also known as De Quervain's tenosynovitis.
    Kinesiology tape is a more user friendly alternative to splinting. Big bulky braces not only prevent you from using your hand and thumb but can make you very stiff.
    Whether you're dealing with an acute flareup of De Quervain's tenosynovitis, or struggling with chronic pain, this taping technique can help decrease pain and inflammation. Allowing you to start healing.
    So go grab your Kinesiology tape and a good pair of scissors. Let's get taping!
    But remember do not use the tape over rashes, cuts, or broken skin. And do not use if you have allergic reactions to tape.

    When I had this years ago, I found that pressing down hard on the inner side of elbow helped relieve the pain.

      What part exactly? And what did you do to get rid of this? I’ve been dealing with it almost 3 months now:(

      Just press down hard with your other hand on the inner elbow/forearm. It helped me to temporarily relieve the pain.
      It took me about a year and two or three months before it went away.

    K Tape… 😂 as much use as a chocolate teapot 😢… that little Japanese bloke managed to fool a whole profession of gullable idiots that this shit was actually beneficial.. might as well use a bit of gaffer tape… it will do the same thing for at least 10 minutes 🤣

      Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for others. In fact my own mother in law is using this exact taping technique for her De Quervain's. It's the only thing that stops her pain.

      @@VirtualHandCare so a single episode of benefit for one person is 'best evidence".. Umm! think not.. Studies very clear on this rubbish and like all things may have some effect if you apply sellotape to your arm. Not the best way of approaching a narrative to improve patient care because at the end of the days it's simply sham treatment. It's bit the tape that bothers me!.. it's the shit narrative that practitioners give as to its 'perceived efficacy' which as we all know ins terms of level 1 evidence is just absent..
