Thanks for the video! LG’s OLEDS are excellent! However, one thing that really annoys me about them is their SDR gaming settings. I personally feel they are very dim. Why do they grey out peak brightness settings?

@@shakilmahmood2668 not a professional by any means, but I’ve had a C1 since June of last year and spent prolly a solid 6 months in settings menu getting it to look the way I like. Could I ask what it is you’re want out of the tv that you can’t seem to get? Is it more related to brightness? Color vibrancy? Black levels? Cuz I had to play with ALL of these to get it how I want.
@@dylanhumphrey2479 I find most games too dark. Cant see details on my character, can't see much in caves and tunnels. I don't think its black crush. Everyone says use HGIG. But I find this makes everything even darker. What settings are you using, brightness, contrast etc
@@shakilmahmood2668 so I just wanna preface my response with the idea that “accuracy” is not always ideal. The creators intent can sometimes not be what YOU want to see and that should take priority over anything. You want it to look good for YOU. So screw what anyone else says. So first off, screw HGIG. I have done everything in my power to make HGIG a viable method of viewing, but any comparison I’ve made between HGIG and Dynamic tone mapping, DTM always wins. It’s brighter, more vibrant, at the expense of highlights being a bit blown out. There’s pros and cons to everything, but I personally couldn’t live with the dimness of HGIG. So DTM on always. This may be a bit long, but I just don’t wanna miss anything. So for HDR gaming Picture mode - game optimizer (Within game optimizer, set the game genre to FPS. Don’t know why, but it just seems to be more vibrant and contrasty than standard) Within the advanced settings menu under picture Brightness OLED pixel brightness - 100 Contrast - 90 Screen brightness - 50 HDR tone mapping - on Peak brightness should be greyed out and set to high Black level - auto (With black level, make sure your “RGB Range” on your PS5 is set to auto as well or if you have an Xbox, set the equivalent to auto as well. I’ll come back to this with something you can play with) Color Color depth - 70 Tint - 0 Color gamut - native (THIS was a big change for me personally this helped a lot with color vibrancy) Fine tune - keep default White balance - I played with this a lot and settled on warm 25 under “color temperature”. This is worth playing with to get how you like. Clarity Adjust sharpness - 10 Super resolution - off Every thing else greyed out. And then for SDR gaming Picture mode - game optimizer Advanced settings under picture mode Brightness OLED pixel brightness - 100 Adjust contrast - 90 Screen brightness - 50 Auto dynamic contrast - greyed out Peak brightness - greyed out Gamma - so 2.2 is a slightly dimmer but more contrasty image and 1.9 is a brighter image with less contrast. 1.9 if you wanna prioritize brightness. Color Color depth - 75 Tint- 0 Color gamut - native Fine tune - I have color upgrade set to high for SDR, just seems to make blues and reds pop a bit more but I can see how people wouldn’t like this. White balance - so upon checking tbis I realized my color temp is set to 0 in SDR. I apparently never got around to changing this, but personally, I haven’t noticed anything that’s made me wanna switch it. Play with this in SDR, and see if you like warmer tones or cooler tones. And I do believe that’s it. The thing I was gonna come back to on black level is that if you keep “RGB range” on auto on the PS5 and then switch “black level” on the C1 to “limited” this can result is MUCH blacker blacks and a far more contrasty image, but at the loss of shadow detail. And I mean a pretty significant loss of detail. However I tend to like how it looks sometimes for certain games. Play with setting your console to auto and then the tv to limited. The unmatched settings can sometimes result in a better picture but usually both on auto is the way to go. I knew this wanna gonna be like a short story😂😂 my apologies for the long message, but I do sincerely hope this brings the image a bit closer to what you were looking for. Lmk what you think!!!
Then you must have otherwise quite mixed up settings. Anywhere between 30 and 50 will give you the most natural colors. Leaving it at 0 makes ist look too blue.
You need to go into a game that’s in SD - also need to go into device self care - then energy saving - then turn off the energy saving step. It should then work 👍

It’s not the exact same tho bro. Don’t deny improvements to save yourself buyers remorse. Been there, and it doesn’t make you look good. Could you please confirm how the PS5's output on C2 is when you set the aspect ratio to 32:9? Does the image have both letterbox and pillarbox? Or just a letterbox with a stretched image? Plz have the PS5 output on 1080p for this.
I am coming from a 24" monitor and 42" would be too large at first for me, so a downsized image size on 32:9 aspect ratio would suit me
PS5 can only do 16:9 so it’d probably have the black bars on top and the left and right too.
❤
That makes zero sense lmao
logo luminance?
No matter what I do, it only shows me 60 fps on my c2 whether I’m 1440 or 2160. Any help?
your HDMI are 2.1 version ????
Thats herts. In the game options? Press the green button 5 times it will show you the fps. That game menu shows hrtz
The menu is quite different from the c1 I can't change the black level to 50 only off, full or limited I think it said but followed all the other tips but to be fair my eyes probably struggle between SD and 4K anyway haha, great video though as per.....
Screen brightness on the c1 is black level on the 2022 models
If I want to use dynamic tone mapping on my LG C2 do I calibrate my PS5 using HGIG or dynamic tone mapping on?
You calibrate after doing all the settings on the TV.
Calibrate using HGIG, then use DTM if you want.
Is HDMI 2.1 cable is necessary to turn on game optimizer in LG C1 when connected with gaming laptop?
It’s only required if you try to do 4K at 120 fps. Idk about that tho
Now my TV is way darker and orange lmao. Also having lag with pixels and frame rate now
his voice is so golden haha
I have the 48 inch LG C2. I just got a PS5 over last weekend and no matter what I do, it says the hrz is at 60. I thought I could do 120. I have a Xbox Series X that shows 120 all the time on same TV. I know all HDMI ports on this TV can do 120, so I don't know whats up. Frustrated.
You will only have 120hz if the game supports it. Like call of Duty, Gran Turismo 7, etc
@@trosszhun I know it supports and runs 120. But it doesn't show it with the PS5. It does with Xbox Series X.
ciao io ho tv oled lg cs6 4 k 55 pollici mi aiuti a settre il mi tv io voglio caoire se giochi online e meglio ho peggio tenere hdr attivo ho bisogna disattivarlo
these settings made my screen so dim, not sure why, colors are nice tho
It's the HGIG that dims the image. I like to use dinamic tone mapping, the image is more vibrant.
Why is my gamma grayed out
Does the ps5 know when you're playing a sdr game or hdr game? Or do we need to change these settings evertime we change from a sdr game to a hdr game?
Yeah I cover that just set the console to HDR when supported
@@allthingstech even with the console set to hdr on when supported, when I play a sdr game and adjust the brightness setting to 80, then play a hdr game and put the brightness to 100. When I play the sdr game again the brightness is still at 100. I have a C1. Sorry to be a pain, but I've been struggling to get the best picture out of the tv
So for HDR gaming
Picture mode - game optimizer
(Within game optimizer, set the game genre to FPS. Don’t know why, but it just seems to be more vibrant and contrasty than standard)
Within the advanced settings menu under picture
Brightness
OLED pixel brightness - 100
Contrast - 90
Screen brightness - 50
HDR tone mapping - on
Peak brightness should be greyed out and set to high
Black level - auto
(With black level, make sure your “RGB Range” on your PS5 is set to auto as well or if you have an Xbox, set the equivalent to auto as well. I’ll come back to this with something you can play with)
Color
Color depth - 70
Tint - 0
Color gamut - native (THIS was a big change for me personally this helped a lot with color vibrancy)
Fine tune - keep default
White balance - I played with this a lot and settled on warm 25 under “color temperature”. This is worth playing with to get how you like.
Clarity
Adjust sharpness - 10
Super resolution - off
Every thing else greyed out.
And then for SDR gaming
Picture mode - game optimizer
Advanced settings under picture mode
Brightness
OLED pixel brightness - 100
Adjust contrast - 90
Screen brightness - 50
Auto dynamic contrast - greyed out
Peak brightness - greyed out
Gamma - so 2.2 is a slightly dimmer but more contrasty image and 1.9 is a brighter image with less contrast. 1.9 if you wanna prioritize brightness.
Color
Color depth - 75
Tint- 0
Color gamut - native
Fine tune - I have color upgrade set to high for SDR, just seems to make blues and reds pop a bit more but I can see how people wouldn’t like this.
Seems the new update doesn't have option to do warm color 😒
Turning off dynamic tone mapping made my game look dull as shit, I would leave that on personally
What is with AI brightness ? On or off?
off
warm 50 wtf dude my screen is like orange
How much to put on the warm?
@@SoyOtakudeCorazon 0
Lol same, do you have an updated recommendation number for it
Then you must have otherwise quite mixed up settings. Anywhere between 30 and 50 will give you the most natural colors. Leaving it at 0 makes ist look too blue.
Yeah I can’t do 50. I’ve settled on Warm 30.
And for Xbox?
Worst thing u do is turn hgig on bro u buy the tv for the color and this get u color bad trust me if u care turn it off or make hdr on
Followed these settings exactly looks much worse thanks
I can't change gama 2.2
You need to go into a game that’s in SD - also need to go into device self care - then energy saving - then turn off the energy saving step. It should then work 👍
I tried using your settings but my eyes didn’t like them, so i reset the settings to default 💀
Does it look good on default?
@@wrad3879 when you watch movies or tv shows just put the picture quality on “ FILM MAKER MODE “
When watching on Dolby Vision use “ Dolby Vision Home Cinema Mode “
No need to change anything else in the settings
Work with lg oled e6 ?
Er? May be a tad old 😂
@@allthingstech Why 😲 it's an OLED and you said works on every LG oled

i want my 42 inch c2 for pc xd
What about Xbox???????
My C2 55 Evo lags a lot with a Ps5 , a CX is miles away from 2022 C2
Do you have your PS 5 on performance mode
@@slow_z3127 no , I leave Ps5 on default regarding that aspect
meh buy the c1 instead overpriced for the same tv
nope. The C1 use to be 1,800 when it first. came out, so eventually it will be the same price as the C1 by the end of the yr or next spring. I'm getting the C2 this holiday
They all start high and then drop by about 35%
@@christianmarmol3230 but its still to expensive i guess. Its Brand new or Not even released the c2
@@yoda3089 C2 is out now. It on Amazon and one other website. Also it's an OLED their all too expensive lol
It’s not the exact same tho bro. Don’t deny improvements to save yourself buyers remorse. Been there, and it doesn’t make you look good. There are genuine improvements over the C1 with the C2 and doubly so for the G2. The C1 is still an excellent tv and the most recommended tv of last year. But the C2 IS a better TV.
Very bad and wrong settings...
Way to fast
You did everything perfectly until the very last step. Cmon dude... why
elaborate
@@jorgiebutt that he didnt went full dark, kept it “barely visible”
I get that, some games become too dark but with in game brightness twiks you can see details so true black is preferable
