- This applies at least to later builds of LG C2 OLED panels and Firmware 03.33.16 or greater. Something changed over the last year with these sets, either the panels and/or the firmware has necessitated different settings for a few options that all the previous videos, articles and discussions I ran across. This is everything I did to get my picture perfect. This is ONLY for normal source watching, there is no gaming specific setup info here.

Glad you made a video on this. I’m in the market for a new living room TV and this one looks great!
Don't wait - stock is just about done for the C2 everywhere, it's the last great OLED bargain.
Great video. Thank you! I wish I understood the white balance part but I set it that way anyway. Everything looks fantastic.
Glad it was helpful!
"You just have to be playing something" is a game changer. I was wondering why some options were greyed out, then they were available again on down the road! Thanks!
Big tip for gamers edit inputs and chose pc mode by clicking on the icon beside label. This is the only way to truly gain access to all banw of the 2.1 ports. Also allows more access to options. Also prevents lag
All my good options are grayed out no matter which I choose..PC or game.. I'm using Xbox series s and X .. The options show up for a split second when I launch a game and they go grey again instantly.
I think its no longer needed to set pc mode.
I changed back to console mode and there's no difference..
Hit green 7x and you will see your TV/console displays same info.
@@thekids_callmeboss6577 no you can still chose this option to open full cap of ports... This is for ppl that really understand how to program a tv... the updated software has made it much easier to get a fantasic pic... most important understand how to calibrate your tv to each device... example xbox series x. need to calib it on each setting. ie doby atmos, 4khdr all sep calib. pay attention to setting your max lums and dark prop... for xbox series x its super easy just max your first two options and then leave the rest alone. play with your black as every tv is just diff ie my best xbox set on atmos is 10 black crazy. on 4khdr its 30.
In my C2, the sweet spot for color temperature, was "Warm 25". If I go warmer than that, even though everybody says Warm 50 it's the recommended way it's suppossed to be watched and all that, the whites became noticeable yellowish, which I personally hate. About the black crush, I use a video here on TH-cam with squares and black levels all the way to white and with the default black level of 50 and 2.2 gamma, I could distinguish all squares except for the first one. So I don't see the black crush problem you're talking about. Movies with dark scenes, look pretty good to me. Anyway, great video.
There are white that are actually yellowish, you can check that using a great quality picture that you can see both on your tv and with your phone
I thought it was just me because warm 50 was not enjoyable for me
Same for me, it becomes too much yellow
thanks Chief
You bet
for black crush on 22 point. adjust brightness level 5 good or can i go higher
What is the reason for white balance color temp to Warm 50? Was that the older recommendation setting switched from or just a personal preference?
It’s the accurate set point for the mode. It’s not actually warm that’s just what they called it
Did you upgrade from the Sony? How do you like the OLED?
I would turn off dynamic tone mapping with HDR.
EDIT: SONY is sold to a happy new owner! The DTM is one of those things that's preference. I find I like both on and off, in certain scenes vs the other. Right now I prefer On, overall, with these other settings. It operates differently however in the other modes.
Is super resolution okay for SDR/HD 1080p content?
My C2 is 1 month old. I startwf watching an old program from 2010 in HD on amazon prime video. I find its like fuzzy in the background and notice it alot more in dark areas. Any tips for help to resolve please? Thanks
If you've applied all these settings, it's probably just that source program, or the app itself on whatever you are streaming it through. Try another program or streamer if you can to test.
do you find that your TV Shield's image is "darker" than playing the same thing on the regular internal webOS? for example if you play a show on the Shield's Netflix app vs the webOS's Netflix app, does the image appear darker to you or the same? thank you
Sorry I don’t use the webos apps
Uhm do i have an alternate multiverse lg c2? Because i cant access any of the secret menu stuff and im missing signal level and a bunch of other stuff.
If you don’t have a us model you may be restricted.
What is the 2.5 signal do? I just left it at 100% and what a difference in the 2.2 method
It specifies a change (boost) at a certain light level
The peak brightness option doesent let me select anything?..
It’s not an option in all modes
For aspect ratio most recommend original and just scan on instead of 16:9, which is correct? Also, would you turn the SDR brightness higher on the 42” model? Thanks!
Like I said, I don’t game on it, sorry no idea what to set aspect ratio to. The size doesn’t change the settings
@@COGuyStuff I asked about brightness because I read the 42/48” models don’t get as bright as the larger ones.
What you end up with is all dependent on your room and preference anyway, it's not a set number for everyone. What I showed works, here.
@@COGuyStuff I have a similar set up in a light controlled room. I guess the larger models are around 20% brighter, so I turned it up to 95. Thanks for the guide!
There's a big difference between how bright the panel pixels gets (all the same) and how much light is thrown in to the room (more inches the more light).
Hi mate, been fiddling around with my new tv I got after 7 years and I have been proper frustrated. Came across this and I am praying to god this works but do these settings work on a 55NANO766QA tv? Same settings that is
Very doubtful
So what settings do u recommend then mate?
I have no idea, I don’t have that set
Hello did you test how long do the dimming ocure with the new firmware?
It doesn't trigger with normal content anymore, as it should.
That's good, now with the new firmware my sonos beam gen 2 has some issue, i can not change the volume with the remote.. @@COGuyStuff
Unplug both for a minute for a full reboot and see if it helps.
i did that 3-4 times.. nothing. thx. Hello from Romania, i'm a big fan of your videos.@@COGuyStuff
Double check all the audio settings, it sounds like CEC is just not communicating. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the sonos too.
👌thenks
Welcome 😊
24 for pixel brightness is like do you have night vision XD i think lower pixel brightness is good only if you use it as pc for reading or browsing not for watching or games , Im on 60 because my eyes hurt if i set it to 70
I cant go any higher than 42 on my C1 or it blinds me. I play in a pretty dark room
Currently watching . Had to pause and say big ups for letting people know, that they must be using the appropriate source, in order to access that sources settings. When I first bought a year ago, many videos never explained that, took me a day or two to realize it. So your way ahead of many of the “other” videos . One last thing , thank you for making an updated video , for 6 months I been checking back in and always wondered when someone make a update video.
Thanks for that!
Yeah,I watched like a dozen of videos and no one tells you that,it is super frustrating ...
Best settings for you... fine.
How do you get rid of film grain or noise?
You cant
I have the C1 and C3, pretty sure these settings can be applied to both…
Hi, I bought a C2 42 last year to mainly use as a gaming monitor but also to watch movies. After a few months I noticed some games are bit grainy & the movies which I watch on TV itself not using the PC are also not very good quality as for this being a 4K OLED panel. But as of few days ago it got worse, when using PC it the picture looks like there are some colours missing & the text have white outlines around them. Even when using TV for movies & stuff the grains look like microorganisms running around in a petri dish. I checked my graphic card just in case & is fine, checked cable no difference. Do you guys think this is something wrong with the panel(hard Ware) or the settings?
I can’t think of any setting that would do that. Try a factory reset. If it doesn’t improve I would guess it’s hardware.
Hi
I have the same grain problem with my c2. I use a ps5 to play games and watch movies and there is too much grain. I watch on streaming and 4k blu ray discs and i still hav the same problem.
Have you fixed it?
@@tompa3005 I have a free repair or replacement cover for it so I gave it for repair, just waiting to see what's going to happen.
@@ploomperera395 ok, thanks
When using your C2 as a monitor make sure to set the Shaprness down to zero and navigate to your Home Dashboard, go to the top right and select the settings cog, and then select your desired HDMI input and label it as PC. Make sure to also have HDMI Deep Color enabled for the same HDMI input. Now go to your computers desktop and go into your graphics driver. You will want to set your output color format to either RGB or YCbCr 4:4:4, output color depth to 10, and output dynamic range to Full. This should give you a grain free image with no text fringing and lower latency. Hope this helps.
I have the 77” C2 and I applied the white balance setting that you mentioned. Amazing! What also helped for the black crush is to lower black level from 50 to 49. I believe the default setting on the C3/G3 and C4/G4 is 49 now. At the C2 it 50. You should see a slight improvement
I tried 49 and 51, 50 is right on my 83 panel
fine. my personal pref. are a bit diff. TruMotion is OFF and HDR Dynamic Tone Mapping is also OFF. 🙂
Just watched your wonderful video tutorial. I realize I am a bit late to your video comments. However, if you are still monitoring comments... Do you know if the current NFL playoff football games should be watched in different settings?
Content doesn’t determine the settings. Set it and forget it :)
Whoa, in HDR pixel brightness 100 and contrast 100? My LG G2 looks all washed out at those settings. And, I get light bleeding on the right and left edges . . .
Then you missed something.
Helou, has anyone noticed, that lg c21 in family settings not corectly counts the hours of tv on every day. My tv counts only the hours of present day! The next day, it starts from zero. My tv is 10 days old and has the firmware update 03.33.65 . Big hellou from Slowenia!!!
The Screen Time Report, is a daily, one week report. That's all it's supposed to do. If you are looking for a Total Hours on, that's in TV Information.
LG OLED screens when stored for more than a year without opening do they damage?
no
Is updating the firmware in the c2 a must? Mines out of the box too
It depends on what version you are on, and if the newer features/changes matter to you.
great content...I'm using a Sonos Beam 2 soundbar with the LG C2. Does it help with dialogue clarity to use the function "Use External speakers with TV speakers" in my case? or not really? (I assume my soundbar is considered an "external TV speaker")
You just have to try it and see
how remove stand by light.always on panel light.pls reply

just got a c2 55" the other day after returning a samsung q80b. i have the 03.33.65 update. would you say these settings are still good?
Yep no change
@@COGuyStuffthanks! do you both run real Cinema and match frame rate in your Apple tv settings?
Yes
Just got the C2 and connected it to my shield. Can I tell my tv to not regocnise the shield as a gaming consol?
Yes. Go to home-dashboard, go to edit input, if you change the icon the tv will see the device differently
This setting is used to watch open TV or just to watch HDR streaming
I don’t know what you’re asking, but the video covers it all.
Cinematic movement is okay for sports too?
i got the LG CS OLED can i use these settings same tv almost bro.
You can try but I would not expect the same results
I realize you probably can’t confirm but do you suspect these settings apply to the LG G2 Series 65-Inch Class OLED evo Gallery Edition Smart TV OLED65G2PUA, 2022 - AI-Powered 4K TV, Alexa Built-in?
I would suspect they do but can’t test to confirm.
@@COGuyStuff Appreciate it
I don't have the TV power sound setting under accessibility. Maybe Europe tvs don't have that option, I tried to change audio source to TV speaker and not my soundbar but no luck. I would use that setting if it had it.
Could be, I'm not sure
European models do have the function too. You must have something en/disabled that not lets you use the function
All of a sudden the Netflix app doesn't recognize Dolby Vision. Any ideas?
Sorry no idea, I don’t use the built in apps
@@COGuyStuff No worries.
Found the Lg G3 image to green
This vid isn't for that series.
These setting were way too dark for me. I have to increase black level and turn on auto dynamic contrast just to see anything.
Then either you missed something, or you aren’t on an updated c2/g2, or you’re in a bright room
@@COGuyStuffthank you for responding. I ran all your settings again in Dolby vision, and movies are unwatchable. I can’t see the actors faces. Do you use these settings with the latest update? Also, I have the 83”, which I read is less bright. Could that be an issue?! I’m in a pitch black room. Switching to Cinema home makes it watchable, but I have to put on vivid mode to get the brightest picture and not lose detail in dark scenes (that I’m happy with). Also, I’m using the native apps. I also only have about 92 hours on it.
I think it depends on the content sometimes. Some movies I watch are pathetic dark in cinema and needs cinema home to be watchable. Whilst others are great in cinema. I also noticed dolby vision looks better and brighter in cinema than what HDR does, at least the movies I been watching recently
Let me add that Dynamic Tone Mapping seriously saves some movies looking washed and dim in bright daylight. If the sun shines and it looks too dim, it breaks immersion for me.
What is ‘motion eye care’?
A periodic warning to get up and take a break. Like some cars do after driving a while.
I'll try these settings to see how they look. Thanks alot.
Let me know the results!
Nicely Done.
In your video we see you using optical out.
Have you noticed any sync issues and how are you adjusting for it ?
I think there is an adjustment but just when using HDMI.
Thanks
No idea what you thought you saw, but no I’m not using any optical out.
@@COGuyStuff Thanks for the reply.
At 9:17 into the video you have a screen that shows Sound-Sound Out-Optical Out device.
Thanks for clearing things up.
As I explained over the next minute, that’s just what it needs to be set to. I’m not using any output from the tv.
