      I did have a chance to use your suggested settings for the SDR picture mode...and it worked great. Better than any other settings I have been able to come up with. The Clarity - TruMotion setting to User Selection makes a big difference.... Also, your suggested settings for Dolby Cinema are very good and similar to what I have been using for the past 5+ months I have had the TV. As you know the LG G2 defaults to many of the Dolby Cinema settings so not that much to change once you select Cinema in the Dolby format... Thanks again for a great video and helping with the SDR settings...

    I've had my previous two TVs "professionally" calibrated for $300 a pop and in both instances, I reset the TVs after the tech left...just horrible wastes of money....I had my new LG 77" C2 installed today and used this video to navigate the complex maze of setting menus and followed the suggested adjustments to a tee and though it was nice out of the box, the picture is absolutely beautiful, now!! Thank you, Review Fella!!!

    WOW! Great tutorial!
    I bought a 77” G2. It arrived today. Spent the first several hours looking at terrible picture quality, no clue how the remote worked, could not find most all of the great features the G2 was supposed to come with, and was pretty much guessing my way thru the plethora of menu screens. Then I found your video.
    IMPORTANT NOTE TO NEW BUYERS- When I first turned on the TV it said it was updating the software. Cool! When I finally found the software update menu it said the TV was up to date. Cool! After watching your video I went into the software menu and hit ‘Update Software’ again just for the heck of it.
    KA-POW! The TV downloaded a major update and came to life! All the goodies were now in the menu screens along with…get this….A USER MANUAL!
    When you get your new LG toy, run the update a couple times even if the TV says it is up to date.
    Thank again!

    Hey TRF, let me say this .... thank you, thank you, thank you ☺️ I've just purchased the LG G2 77" and was pulling my hair out regarding settings. I'd tried other TH-camrs settings and they were rubbish. Thank God I saw your channel 🙏 my oled is singing, literally singing. In sdr the only thing I changed but using your settings was that I used Standard instead of Expert etc, but you did suggest that as an alternative too. Having spent a big chunk of money I thought I'd messed up big time. Now I'm so happy. I've set all other settings you suggested for HDR etc and now it's jaw droppingly good. Thank you again....I've subscribed too.
    Guys, forget all other TH-camr recommendations if you have a C2/G2, this is the channel for your settings and try Standard if you don't like either of the Expert ones. You da man, sir 🤗🤗

    Thank you for this very helpful video. My C2 48" has just arrived today and I'm very pleased with it.
    Just one thing, under OLED panel care , you said set Adjust logo brightness to 'Low'. Have just watched a video about this from The Tech Giant, who advises this refers to the amount of adjustment for the logo. Off being no adjustment, Low being small adjustment and High being the largest adjustment. Therefore to help prevent burn in it should be set to High. This is obviously confusing and counter intuitive but LG website seems to confirm this and many people in the comments section also confirm High should be the setting. Thought you'd like to know.
    Apologies for the long comment and thanks again.

    • @TheReviewFella
      @TheReviewFella  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi and I hope you’re enjoying your new TV. I have a dedicated video on Logo brightness. As it does cause confusion. The best protection is to set it to high but it can dim the entire screen when gaming or watching TH-cam for example. So LG give you other options to turn it off or reduce the aggressive screen dimming (if causing issues). See my video here and thanks for the comment: th-cam.com/video/o6SbydwpD3U/w-d-xo.html

    I bought an LG G2 4 weeks ago. I have a Roku Ultra connected via Ethernet cable to my router, HDMI cable from my Roku to my Onkyo receiver, and a HDMI cable from the ARC output on the receiver to the ARC input on my TV. I set the display type in my Roku settings to Automatic (4K Dolby Vision). The Dolby Vision settings in this video helped me dial in my TV for Netflix. I'm still experiencing some blotchy backgrounds and annoying eye twinkle when watching live TV on TH-cam TV through my Roku. Are there any adjustments I can make to resolve these issues or could it be the source material? Thanks for providing this video and any advice you can give me.

    • @TheReviewFella
      @TheReviewFella  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. I’d say the source material is most likely the culprit. Particularly TH-cam content which is compressed to death. There are so many streaming sources, all using different technology, it can be a bit hit and miss with quality. I find Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV to be good benchmarks for image quality.

    Is c2 picture brightness and quality equal to g1 or better ?

    • @TheReviewFella
      @TheReviewFella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt if you’d notice much difference between the C2 and G1. The C2 has a small boost in peak brightness (maybe) , but I’ve not compared the two side by side.

  • @leoMC4384
    @leoMC4384 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    On my C2, the sweet spot for color gamut was "Warm 25". If I go warmer than that, the white started to become noticeable yellowish. And I disabled the logo dimming, I don't watch TV and I play videogames for an hour tops, so I never display static content for long periods. The only problem is the frame rate: I use a MiBox, if I set the resolution to 4k 24 hz with Cinematic Movement setting, movies look great indeed, but if I set 4k 60hz (for TH-cam), I can see a terrible soap opera effect in the movies, even with TrueMotion disabled! I wish there was one good setting for everything, I don't want to change settings before watching something. Anyway, great video. 👏👏👏👏

    Make sure after years, that you don't set the HDMI you are using for broadcast or non-PC/Console use, to 4K or the sound will be non-existent. Set it to off. I also prefer taking the standard mode and making it more towards Filmaker mode on all my OLEDs or similar. Warm up and brighten with other tweaks. To me Filmaker mode and calibration is just for Pure HDR/Dolby Vision 4K Movies. It creates a cloudy film on STD or streamed compressed video and darkens.

I'll try your settings as a start. For me it was between the LG C2 77" and the Samsung S95B. 65". If Samsung had a 77" model or if it was between two 65" tv's I may have chosen the Samsung, The Sony A95K was a little more than I wanted to spend but it is a great tv - maybe the best this year, There are so many great tv's this year it would be hard to make a really bad choice. I can make my room very dark, so I am not really worried about ambient lighting, I wish I could have seen the Hisense U8H in person. If their blacks are good in a dark room I might have been able to save a lot of money. But in the last week or so the prices of the 75 or 77 inch model has gone crazy. I think that one is a great choice if the room is bright much or the time. The LG G2 is also too expensive for an apparently small improvement over the C2, Of course I don't know yet if I made the right choice, but if not I can return it. Thanks!

    We bought a C2 recently and the picture quality is lovely.
    One critique/comment about your settings though.
    You should really set the logo brightness to 'high'. The manual states that this is the 'highest' protection. ie: if you set it to 'low' then you get 'lower' protection.
    It's easy to misunderstand because at first glance someone might think 'low' refers to the brightness the tv will adjust logos to, but this isn't the case.
    So - yeah - I recommend changing that to 'high' if you want the best protection.

    • @TheReviewFella
      @TheReviewFella  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi and thanks for the comment. I have a dedicated video relating to Logo Brightness, it’s worth a watch if you have time. LG give the opportunity to set Logo Brightness at different levels because it can be aggressive and impact other things. Because of the range of content I watch, plus the impact ‘High’ has on gaming on my PS5, I set it lower. When set to ‘High’ I find in game elements are incorrectly dimmed. A workaround for this is setting it lower with a slight trade off where risk of burn in is concerned. But I’ve never had an issue with any of my OLEDs yet so it works for me.

      It's true that the brighter you have the panel, the shorter its life could be. So it's a fine balance between what you prefer and being cautious. I'd say brightness anywhere between 50 and 85 is good, depending on your room, lighting and personal preference. Other things will help protect your panel such as using the built in tools like screen move and pixel refresh. Also try not to leave the same image with logos (like a news channel), on your screen all day long.

      The TV auto detects SDR, HD, and HDR content and uses the appropriate settings (or the settings you have set yourself). So there is no need to manually switch between them, as the TV automatically displays the quality of the source (for Netflix it might be HD or Dolby Vision for example).

      Sorry to hear this. I know some people see motion blur more than others on OLED TVs. I’m afraid it’s something that is part of OLED technology. It just depends how much you pick it up and how much you can reduce it with the built in tools. You might be better with something like a non OLED TV.
