  • Recently I was sick and had to stay at home, got bored and like any photographer I bought another Fujifilm camera. The amazing and compact Fujifilm X-M1. The Fujifilm X-M1 was released back in 2013 and it is one of the few cameras to have an X-Trans 1 sensor.

    Just found your channel, subscribed, and really enjoy your work. Great job and I like your descriptions and explanations. I love Fujifilm and have used them since original x 100 came out. I currently have x100f, xt3 and xpro2 and a bunch of lens. Keep up the good work!!

    Beautiful! What I understood from your new video is that it's not good to have money (to spend) when you get sick with covid. You can end up buying more equipment 😂
    I'm glad you got over the disease and I wish you good health!

    My first Fuji. Came with the 16-50mm 3.5 lens, and a CD with old raw conversion software that is not obvious to use. (just make a tiff and do nothing else, please) the macro setting works on the XC lenses and isn't necessary on other Fuji lenses. My copy was a minty used one, and the settings were slightly cranked up, so I was very surprised at the jazzy jpegs. VERY. Naturally I found my 16-50 lens focussing way faster on my T-2 body. It's center sharpness is just excellent. Always use a wrist strap. I just use the old skinny ones made for the pocket point and shoots. Always. If you park the body for a while and use a T series body for a few months, going back to the X-M1 will take a little bit to get back in gear. Focus peaking is a lot harder to see on these. Love the tilt screen and the Jpegs. Have fun and buy a Russian 4 lens turret viewer for it. They actually work, and give it a classic retro look. Just match your lens to one of it's 4 focal lengths. (As much as you can) I've had major back problems lately and have also been shooting around my San Francisco flat. You quickly get to know the right time of day to shoot different subjects in your home. Switch to some very warm keldron to experiment with, or just select cloudy for indoors with some sun hitting objects. Two weeks ago a minty X-H1 showed up. More learning fun. Jeeze, the correct Fuji batteries are 60 bucks each, and with the grip, you need three. Next month..... thanks for your charming video. If you're tired a lot, check your blood pressure. Andre. ( I make films when I can)

    agree, I have aone also, M1 is outstanding in color rendition and handling with flippy screen; I use it w/ old manual lenses; seems like old Olympus glass is especially suitable

    I did a similar thing. Already having modern cameras, I kept reading and seeing on TH-cam how the early sensor cameras can give a rendering that can look great, even when compared to the latest models.
    I got a X-E2s still new-in-the-box in 2020 and after some trial and error have fully tweaked out the film simulations for my way of seeing. Today with two X-T3 bodies and an X-Pro2, I find that when I leave the house with nothing specific in mind, the X-E2s is my camera of choice.
    With the original trio of Fujifilm lenses, the 18mm f/2, 35mm f/1.4 and 60mm f/2.4 this older sensor give the most film-like rendering of any of my digital cameras.

    • @AndreiDimaReviews
      @AndreiDimaReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recently got an X-Pro 2 and an X-E2 and love how they render color. My X-T4 gives me all the bells and whistles but I enjoy using the X-Pro 2 more since I got it, especially with the 35mm f1.4.

    Haha! Its so weird that people these days think that 16mp is about enough for online and social media! Ive seen 5mp jpegs (old canon compact) printed up to 1 meter in lenght and at a correct viewving distance it looks SHARP. DO NOT GET HUNG UP ON MEGAPIXELS! When printing large, its all about leaving that to proffessional printing firms. You do not need more than 10mp if you have a real camera with an aps-c sized sensor which even leaves room for cropping quite a bit. 16mp is alot MORE than 98% of the population needs. Now, if you shoot with a cheap smartphone, then more megapixels can help, but thats a totally different story.

    A couple of weeks ago I found a cheap (AU$250/US$175) Fuji X-E1 that couldn’t pass up and I love it! I don’t NEED it (my street and discrete camera is an X-E4 and landscape roughing it in the wild camera is a rugged Pentax K-1 full frame) but I’m really enjoying it. I wanted to try the X-Trans 1 sensor but I’ve found the controls on this first generation X-E a joy to use after the austere X-E4. Sure is slower focus, less responsive (and oddly is a bit bigger than my X-E4) but it’s just fun and the images are great.

    Hi Andrei, thanks for the Video, I own an XT4 and looking for a decent camera (with manual controls) for my son. This seems to be a great entry(budget) camera, how would this compete with a Canon 550 D as is also a cheap alternative? All the best!

    • @AndreiDimaReviews
      @AndreiDimaReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! I don't think there is a big difference between them, I would go with the X-M1 because it is smaller, a better option would be an X-E2 because you have more controls and the price difference is not big.

    You said: 16 mp is more than enough for social media sharing and even for medium size prints. That’s the kind of nonsense that makes me watch no further. As if in the 16mp era and earlier nobody was capable to make pictures that could be enlarged to large formats. It’s not: the more mp the better the picture.
