    What Fujifilm options are there, and is the old stuff as good as the new stuff?

      @GregCarrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ari. I set it on manual focus, have the distance indicator turned on, then manually pre-focus to about 2 metres. Set the aperture to 5.6 to 8, which will then give me zone focussing between about 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Auto ISO. Shutter speed anywhere from 1/125 and higher, the faster the better, paying attention to the histogram for exposure. I set all that up before I start shooting, then I just walk around and press the shutter.

    Hi mate, I didn’t catch when you said where to get the cameras second hand from? Goodnick? Sorry but I’m trying to get my hands on an X70 which is a hard thing to do and with the recent reviews, second hand market is really treating! If I can’t find an X70, would you recommend the X-M1 comparing to something like X-E1 or maybe X-E2? My main concern is portability! Thanks so much for your advice.

    • @GregCarrick
      @GregCarrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Second hand from Gumtree or ebay... wherever you can find one. The X-M1 is ok, but has a mode dial system. If you were after an X-E, then I'd go for the X-E2s. Be aware it does not have a tilt screen.

    • @Nimargb
      @Nimargb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregCarrick thanks Greg, so I guess the short answer is still the X70 then! You’re right, on the X-M1 I will miss the dials I actually love and X-Es become a bit bigger all of a sudden! Incidentally, how bigger is an X-T10 with a 27mm pancake lens compared to the X70? Have you heard any rumours about replacement for X70/XF-10 by any chance?

    • @GregCarrick
      @GregCarrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Nimargb I've never used an X-T10, so can't really comment on that. The X-E line is getting more compact with each generation. The new X-E4 with the tilt screen is a good bit smaller that the X-E1 (which I have). The X-E4 is a great alternative to both the X70 and the X100 series. It's in between the two for size, offers a tilt screen, and takes lenses.

    I use the X-M1 exclusively with adapted lenses and manual focus lenses. No need to worry about AF-switch (and AF-performance), since it's always in manual. In aperture priority with AUTO-ISO basically all I need to do is adjust exposure via the wheel and focus with the lens.

    • @GregCarrick

    Using X-E3. Thought I'd make it as portable as the X100V but ended up getting some larger primes with ti. Still thinking of getting the 27mm pancake. The X-E1/E2 bodies also go for cheap now. Similar to the X-A series but with a viewfinder and bit more tech/controls. Throw a manual lens on it like the Rokinon 21mm F1.4 and you have a very unique setup.
    Other recommendations for street photographer Lumix LX100 I and II. or Lumix GX8 or GX9 with lens of choice. m4/3 is great for street. So light and portable too. Lumix color for JPG are great as well.

      @@GregCarrick thanks. Just seen one with the kit lens for £110/$153. I have a feeling I read somewhere it has the X trans 1 sensor like the XE1 but the updated processor like the XE2. But it most likely didn’t get the firmware improvements the XE2 got when the XE2S came out. Very tempting instead of buying an expensive new model as the XE2 and XM1 covers having the missing flip screen and in a tiny body. Might wait until I can try one in person though to make sure it focuses fast enough for me. I would probably just leave the kit lens on and maybe my fisheye occasionally. The 27mm was definitely too slow for me on the XE1 and the whole thing was a bit laggy.

      @@GregCarrick I would have bought it, but it's from Facebook and a guy who is connected to a shop in another city with mixed reviews and have to pay upfront. 85% sure it would be fine, but don't like taking risks on stuff like this, so will wait for one I can collect. It's almost too cheap too, which makes me suspicious.
      Edit: Just found an XA5 for £190 body only (which is cool as I already have the 16-50mm II). Graphite/dark gray version like the cool X Pro 2. Seems like a better option with it being newer, having more film sims, probably electronic shutter etc...
