  • Just sharing my thoughts with you all on this now 8 year old camera. This is a great option for someone who wants to get into the Fuji X mount system but has a limited budget, or someone who wants to take a slower, more methodical approach to photography. Thanks for watching!

    I have this little camera and I love it. It's small yet powerful, its sensor puts out beautiful pictures. The raw files are better than the Jpegs which is crazy. I have an XT4 and 5 fuji lenses and the combination of the X-M1 and the 35mm f1.4 is perfect. I'm tempted to get the 27mm now. It's my favorite camera for street photography and travel. Use my xt4 more for portraits, product/food photography these days. Great review!

      Love your input! I personally like either the 27 or 18 pancakes on the XM1 for size and balance. I use my XT3 for professional portraits/videos or anything that requires speed to absolute reliability. Got the 35 1.4 recently and LOVE it. Thanks for taking the time!

    Just got this camera by accident. I was looking on marketplace for the Fuji 18-55 f/2.8 and someone was selling that lens with this camera attached to it! Thought I would sell the camera to rec-coop cost but I'm really enjoying using the X-M1!

    I have it. It came with a CD of raw file conversion software. Odd stuff, and not that obvious when you want to just make a tiff. And the software oddly expires. Even if you have old system software like I do. (Mac OS 10.6.8) I'm sure now you can download later version from Fuji.
    Try neutralizing the sharpness highlights and shadows settings to do that later in post. Have fun. The macro setting isn't neccessary with non XC lenses.

    I just got this camera and I love the size of it. I've tried a couple of recipes, but the output doesn't look so good like yours. I dug a little deeper and realized that the X-M1 has a unique oddity: it has a first generation X-Trans sensor, but a second generation image processor (EXR II processor). It seems like this camera compares to the X-Trans II with the JPGs. What's your experience? Did you have to tweak the recipes a little bit, or use the X-Trans II recipes? If so, can you share your settings for them? Thanks! 🙌😊

    FANTASTIC review exactly what I needed, especially the details about the sensor thanks man ❤ I downgrade from XT30II to this one now due to size and maybe I will fall in love with X trans 1 - Recommend Voigtländer 27 f2 with this, who even needs auto focus and a X100VI when you can manually focus paint with light and still use burst mode and focus to infinity for street?

    I have 2 fujfilm, one X-E3 (xtrans 3) and recently I bought lenses and a X-M1 body came with these lenses for free. I don't know if is because I shoot mainly on film (135 and 120) but I realize that 9 out 10 times I take with me the X-M1 instead of X-E3. The straight jpegs out of this camera its amazing. Now I'm planned to sell the X-E3 because I didn't use anymore 😂.

    I do a lot of outdoor photography, and I currently use an X-T1 as my main shooter. With a small prime this is still a fairly compact camera but if I wanted to go smaller, I'd rather go for an X-E1 or maybe an X-E2
    Why? well I can't tanke pictures in the bright sun without a view finder. How many times did I try to take a picture looking at the screen cause I could get my eye in the EVF just to see later that I didn't really nailed the focus because I wasn't properly seeing the image on the not-that-bright of a screen.
    And the X-E series ias just as cheap, I've seen X-E1s for about 100-120€ and X-E2s for about 230€ in France. And they have the shutter dial and exposure compensation dial and ect to me they're my prefered choice for a compact-ish camera setup
    If I wanted to go smaller, I'd probably go for a Fuji X-10 or X-20 that have smaller sensors, yes, but a wonderful fixed zoom lens that goes in front of it and a little optical viewfinder. The zoom lens is compact and allows you to do pretty much everything without feeling the need of an interchangeable lens, not the same approache as an X100 for example

    • @MattJacobs
      @MattJacobs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great insight! I agree with you, although I liked my XM1 I ended up selling it to my step brother who wanted to get into photography. My compact camera is now my X-T10 with the pancake which just feels better in the hand. I bought the XPro1 so I could still have the original X Trans sensor tho

    • @matthieuzglurg6015

      @MattJacobs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had it for much longer than that. Months before the video and it took a few weeks to make the video. Bought it for the XTrans1 sensor. Liked that it was compact. Had the XT10 which is compact as well and nicer to hold and ended up getting an XPro1 with the same sensor and much nicer build. Mentioned this was good for someone getting into the Fuji system while I had 3 or 4 Fuji cameras at the time of selling. Sold it to my step brother who was just getting into photography. Doesn’t change the fact that this camera takes amazing images and is great for a beginner

      @@MattJacobs Thanks for the reply. I've got more Fuji cameras than I care to mention but have the option to pick this one up for just over $100 which I see as a bit of a no brainer. I'm purely stills so the minor upgrades and features on the latest generation are probably wasted on me, I personally see great value for money on the "older" models. I have the tilting screen on the X70 but I like the idea of the X-M1 with any of the smaller ILC Fuji lenses.
