This song is even more cool if you keep in mind that it's inspired by the events of 79 AD in the Bay of Naples - the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

She’d broken her leg on stage prior to this appearance on tv hence the chair and skull topped cane.. glad to see you guys appreciating the Banshees, without Siouxsie I don’t think we’d have had many if any female fronted alternative bands in the UK. She paved the way ... others followed!

Dislocated her knee actually, as explained in the intro.

Lucky enough to be a fan of Siouxsie & The Banshees from the start . And their UK contemporaries. Sit back have a few beers put their music on ,I'm 17 again ( I wish !!) Love your reactions guys.

Siouxsie was the progenitor of the female goth look. She was the direct influence of everything that followed. Robert Smith of the Cure is a good example. He played with them in 84 as a matter of fact

I'd say it was a combination of her and Patricia Morrison from The Sisters Of Mercy who were haha. But yes agreed

"Cities In Dust" was released as a single only the week before this performance, and was easy to see why it was a hit.

This is my favorite SATB song. It is about a visit the band made to the ruins of the city of Pompei.

If you haven't: PLEASE react to their classic 1980s single/official video, Candyman. I think that may have been the most atmospheric and gorgeous Siouxsie & The Boys ever looked and sounded.

"Face to Face" from the "Batman Returns" soundtrack was their last great single before the breakup, sometime in 1991 or 1992. From "The Creatures", I'd recommend "Exterminating Angel", "Pinned Down", or "Turn It On".

Have you heard her more recent song, "Love Crime"? It was recorded for the NBC TV series "Hannibal"'s finale, and it is gorgeous (especially in context).
I saw Siouxsie at the Metro (in Chicago) in the 80s with one of my best friends, who later became my husband, and it was wonderful (yeah, we both kinda crushed on Siouxsie, but we don't mind)!

Also check out Siouxsie's other group The Creatures...a little more tribal. Siouxsie had an elegant goth style. Several of these post punk bands kept rock and roll alive thru the disco years.

Is that Mcgeochs Yamaha Valentine is playing? Read that Robert Smith inherited some of his gear when Mcgeoch left. Could of been an additional Yamaha the band bought for Mcgeoch and not his original.

If you ever do another Banshees song you should go for Voodoo Dolly from that 81. Koln concert, I think its her peak live performance and because of McGeoch guitar that is out of this world.

I recommend listening to the recording this live performance they did was actually a remixed version of the song. The quality of the actual recording is better the drums really come through.

Agree. While an interesting performance, it doesn't quite do the song itself justice. This was such a banger.

The Banshees did three really great albums: the Scream, Juju; Mcgeogh incredible musician, and Peepshow.
Though Kaleidoscope is underrated and worth listening to. Tinderbox, Hyena were Banshees trying hard to sound like the Banshees. I think Fatbob Smith saw the how dull the Banshees had become, thats why he absconded? They experimented with each album previously, but Tinderbox, though OK is fairly shallow. The 2nd Creatures ( Siouxsie and Budgie side project) Album Manchild was a far superior product. Peepshow was a return to genius and should have ended there.
An interesting aside the Thorn Ep is very interesting; previous material set to string arrangements- unbelievable rendition of Overground.
