Because looking at the Hutts, they must have some sort of aces up their sluggy sleeves to not have Galatic Powers decide the galaxy is better off without their antics, and go on a liberating spree in their domain. Seeing as nobody has done that for a long while after a buncha jerkisk crusaders gave it a try and failed, they must have some sort of powerful deterrents to utilize. So is one of them a Hutt military?
If the Hutts start taking a more proactive role in the Book of Boba Fett Season 2, we might see some of this stuff, or we might see it in the Bad Batch Season 2 if they explore more of the criminal underground.
I would rather see less Hutts in Star Wars though. Not that much into the underworld aspects of fiction as a whole, too grimy, dirty, and even nihilistic with downer endings galore.

5:396:11 The book that labeled that "Shell hutt armor" made a mistake. That is Ancient Hutt war armor. Shell Hutt armor is one big cylinder that floats around like a vehicle. Hutt war armor has repulsorlifts but as you can see it has an articulated tail. Shell Hutts also weren't strong they were even MORE gluttonous than normal hutts. Though many of their pods had big mechanical pincer arms.
Normally, people would be bugged with this in mind, but I actually like the tenacity and lore knowledge that you have. Won't be surprised if said SW knowledge is bigger than even mine and Geetsly's.

Something this doesn't cover is the difference between the Treaty of Vontor species and some of the other Hutt slaves. The three Vontor species saw the Hutts as gods for uplifting them 25000 or so years ago. That was true in both canons, but started to break down more and more. In NuCanon Leia a mere slave girl killing Jabba was a big catalyst, but in Legends the Hutts failing to protect a Klatooinian sacred site was the big trigger.

They realized that war only destroys, to truly build something you have to be willing to not fight. So they do that by making peace, establishing markets and exploiting resources through lopsided trade. That they have the warships to back them up means they can choose not to use them.

Honestly the only Hutt worlds I knew about before this video were Nar Shaddaa, Hal Hutta and Nar Kreeta (and I knew about Kreeta from that mission in Jedi Academy where you have to rescue merchants from the rancor maze).
the fact that both the republic and the empire left them mostly alone, is proof of their power. sure, the republic could probably have pulled off a massive invasion, if they had an army the size of the GAR. and the fact that they were slavers and criminal enterprises would make them a prime target for policing actions. and the empire could have invaded to conquer and rule with the fear as they usually did, they also did not, except for a small part in the very north of the territory the fatc that it wasn't done despite all that happened there, only speaks that they were powerful enough to deter such actions

Why did the banking clan, trade federation, techno union and other corporate powers support a war, they were already wealthy, powerful and influential and it seems to be in their best interest in keeping the status quo, instead of relying on unpredictable wars that clearly painted them as the bad guys (even the most major companies can fall with enough bad press). Look what happened during the clone wars as an example, the banking clans were forced to flee their home world to scipio and later nationalized, this only happened that to the uncertainty of war and the other major corporate powers also had their own losses.

Upon seeing the Hutt Space like this, this begs the question why would the Sith Empire wanted to share borders with the Hutts instead of trying to annex it. After all, the Sith do not like sharing anything with anyone and for the Hutts to do the same things the Sith can do is what got me curious. Sure, the Sith may not invaded out of kindness of hearts. But the war between the Hutts and the Sith will definitely greatly weakened the Hutts in the end if total annihilation policy of the certain worlds in the Hutt Space is approved by the Dark Council.
Opening a second front with the entire hutt cartel instead of some randos on a dumb world like Makeb is suicide. Hell, the Hutts were probably the main enforcers of the treaty that paused the war for a while there. Because the Cold War meant they could sell just as many weapons in the rearmament but they'd also be able to sell other things and not have their clients blown up.
