Nothing will ever come close to my excitement over the very first Avengers teaser. Unless Marvel really knocks it out of the park with X-Men -- but I was so excited after seeing Avengers that for at least that weekend it supplanted Ghostbusters as my favorite movie. I've come to my senses since then, but what a time!

In the days when Marvel we're actually making decent superhero flicks and having great actors playing characters people actually wanted to see. Now reduced to third rate movies and television junk like She-Hulk and Ms Marvel.

The original Avengers will always be one of my favorites. I remember seeing it in the theater when I was really young. Tbh even today it is still my favorite MCU film, and its tied with Logan as being my favorite all time Marvel film.
5:56 Definitely the best Mark has ever been as the Banner/Hulk. I agree that Norton gave the better performance, I wish he stayed in the role. Although imagine the set of the Avengers, with Whedon and Norton clashing with each other lmfao

Excellent new video, Matt. in my opinion, with the exception of Avengers: Infinity War & Black Widow. I know you dont like them ones which is cool. but to be honest, Phase One of the mcu. I think is the best. because it took risks & was a little violent & scary. also all the films in that phase, left a great impactful impression. yes, there was the second Avengers film, Age of Ultron. the first Guardians of the Galaxy film from phase two & of course the two films. I have already mentioned from phase three & four. which are entertaining, but I never felt they made a impact like Phase One did as a whole. :)

Avengers is number 21 on my list of all-time favorite movies. And not only just that, but it's my all-time favorite superhero film. Largely because of the fact that... well... it even exists. The idea of making a live action Avengers film and having the other solo films build it up like: "Iron Man", "Thor", and "Hulk", was unheard of at the time, and when I first heard about it, I was onboard with it all the way because I wanted to see it succeed. And not only did it succeed, but it exceeded my expectations. It was so much better than I ever could've imagined it, and the idea of seeing all of these characters together in this one film in live action was amazing, the action sequences are exciting, all these characters have great chemistry with each other, it really is the movie that set the MCU into full gear and proved that this franchise has stain power.
And I will admit, I do think that both Infinity War and Endgame might be more well made films than this, but the 2012 Avengers will always be my favorite MCU movie, again largely because of the fact that it even exists, and is as good as it is. And again, it's not only my favorite MCU film, but it's my all-time favorite comic book film.

3:24 I agree bro but I still enjoy this film dough.
5:57 He sure was because he based his Dr Banner on Bill Bixby which is a big plus in my book.
    8:20 Exactly😂
13:14 I always liked that wise crack he gives to Thor I always wondered if that's a little in joke they threw in there since Chris Hemsworth was in the"Red Dawn" remake playing Patrick's role from the way,way better 1984 original film?
15:33 Yep me&Efree did that along a few at the movie theater we was at when we got to watch this film on the big screen it sure was a fun time at the movies.

the main reason i enjoy the first avengers more than the second was that it featured all established characters. In the second movie they had to introduce ultron, scarlet witch, quicksilver, and vision. For me that kind of drug the film out. I've only seen a few mcu movies. I also saw captain America civil war and thor Ragnarök. I only watched them because I knew it wasn't the standard superhero formula.

It's so crazy that I saw EVERY marvel movie in THEATERS for the full first TEN YEARS. I remember my dad taking me to see all of them, starting with Iron Man. It was a thing we did that helped us bond and grow closer in our relationship. It was cool. But now I can't stand Marvel.

  • @HeroQuestFans

we agree on so much... I didn't like Age of Ultron, but if you had to ask me which is the "best Avengers film" it's a tough call... I'm inclined to say the first one, but it's been so long since I've seen any of them (only watched them each once) and because I just don't want to watch them again I'm not sure. age of ultron would probably work better on the comics page than it did for me on the big screen. the villain felt like kind of a joke after they hyped him up in the trailers. the "marvel humor" was wearing really thin for me by this point (it didn't help that I'd seen a few marvel movies recently). I too kind of felt like they were "meh." people were so over the top about endgame and infinity war, to me that was just like the hype surrounding some popular tv show's finale. was it really that good or was it just people excited about the end of an "experience" they'd been having that they could share together. it was very predictable and over the top. I've been a cynic about superhero movies for a long time... (I remember thinking Iron Man I would "give a chance" after positive reviews and word of mouth and I thought it was fine, but I notice I haven't sought to see it again after watching it that one time in the theater). viewing the shows as trilogies (or quadrilogies?) is different. I'd say Civil War was the best of the captain america movies, thor was the best of the thor movies, and the first iron man was the best of the iron man movies. I didn't think either of the hulk films were that great, kind of forgettable, really, though I suppose the ed norton one was slightly cooler in terms of CGI and less mopey acting. I'm still inclined to say the first avengers was the best just because the concept felt fresh and I was a fan of the team-up in comics (even though looking back it was probably just one issue of the comics in the 70's, a video game in the 90's and maybe some cartoons in my head that created that impression, no "true fan" here). yeah super hero movies need to be less cookie cutter to get my attention anymore. it's like there is a switch that goes from "dark, brooding and over the top depressing nihilism" to "happy go lucky jokey forgettable cgi-fest" and rarely any setting in between for these studios (granted, we're just talking Disney and DC now... I don't even bother with tv shows, but occasionally we'll get a one off that's not licensed or based loosely on some obscure comic)

I still watch random movies from the Avengers series and most of them are really good - very generic and formulaic, but really good.
Just watched Infinity war then End Game back to back and enjoyed them quite a bit.
I think End Game was a truly great book end for the whole series, they should have definitely left it there.

Great review Matt, even though I Love Avengers 1 & 2, Great Action, Well Written & Directed, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson & Tom Hiddleston did a Good Job, I Still Consider Them to be Overrated Films IMO Cause there’s Lots Of Other Films I Liked Better & That had Better Pacing Like Hulk, Incredible Hulk, Thor 1 & 3, Captain America Trilogy, Ghost Rider Films, Deadpool 1 & 2, Daredevil 2003, The Punisher 2004, Punisher: War Zone, & Tim Story Fantastic 4 Films I ‘d put those above the 1st 2 Avengers Films, My Flaws is I thought it Felt Slow In The Middle In 1st Avengers & I thought Mark Ruffalo Sucked as Hulk he’s a Shitty Actor IMO, Edward Norton should’ve been Cast in The Avengers as Hulk, I Liked him in Windtalkers & Collateral he did a Good Job, But Still don’t think he’s that good of an Actor IMO

@@wiinterflowers4277 that's not saying much. The comics were too obscure for live action adaptation IMO. James Gunn did the best he could trying to adapt them but his sense of humor doesn't really work for them. He's like all the rest of these directors when it comes to these type of movies. 'let's take the most D list characters and make them a bigger joke because the fans won't care as long as they're on the screen' I hate that approach.
