This movie sets up a lot of character traits that will become awesome in later movies as their personalities get more complex. The OG 6 Avengers have amazing character development through all the movies they definitely hold a special place among all MCU characters
You are in for a fantastic ride, it only gets better from here. The Avengers Saga will always be the best thing Marvel will ever do. Although the set ups and the solo movies are great it’s this movie that gets people the most invested in everything after it. Each movie you’ll meet new characters and the plots become more intertwined to the point where it’s just one big story. It’s also a great franchise to rewatch once you’ve seen up to the current films and shows because you can look back and notice things or learn new things you didn’t before every single time. Yes, I agree, Mark Ruffalo was the perfect recast in my opinion. Although I didn’t hate the early movies I wasn’t really sold on the character or like him as much until after I saw him in this movie. Now, especially after seeing him in many more movies in the role, I honestly feel like no one can quite carry this character as well as he can. I think you’ll really like where his arc goes in the future.
I’ve noticed most people don’t understand the “Save the rest for the turn, Jay” reference. It’s from No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em Poker. In No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em there’s the initial bet then three common cards are revealed for everyone’s use, another round of betting and a fourth card is travelled, then the fifth card and a final round of betting. The initial three cards are “the Flop”, the fourth card is called “the Turn”, and the fifth card is called “the River”. The No-Limit refers to there being no limit to the amount you can bet (other than how many chips you have). When a player betts all of their chips, risking ending their play and losing immediately, they are said to be going “all in”. In the nuclear missile scene Cap tells Tony that it’s a one-way trip. Now, Cap is fresh from 1945 and has no idea about spaceflight. Tony doesn’t accept that it’s a one-way trip. He isn’t “going all in”. So he replies “Save the rest for the Turn, Jay.”, indicating in a smart-ass way that he doesn’t accept it’s one way. Another reference Cap doesn’t get, and has Natasha close the gate.

You can't help but marvel (hehe) at Cap and Thor everytime they show up, just crazy perfect men. It's really better when you watch them in order, just makes it more special since no other movie franchise has been able to do this so successfully. Can't wait for phase two!!
The tiny details in this movie are amazing. For example, during the fight, Tony is fighting a gang of aliens in front of the schwarma restaurant. The waitress you asked about is actress Ashley Johnson. I think her character is just supposed to be a stand-in for us as the audience. There's no special significance to her other than that.

There were deleted/cut scenes with more perspective views of regular people when the battle started, I think there was simply a scene of her working in a diner or something when it started. It is kinda odd that the edit has her in it a few times, they could have just had her in it at the end about cap saving her life. Sadly nothing comes back from her.

the trick to this movie was loki and the army were never a real threat. the problem was the infighting. that was why the turning point was agent coulson's death

of all the Marvel movies this one is my favorite because of all the one-liners. this one is so funny. "does mother knoweth you wear her drapes?" "he's adopted" the conversation between Loki and Tony at the end in the penthouse is great and the Hulk's beating Loki made me laugh myself silly and we were In the theater. I do like Ruffulo better as Hulk. I love that Robert Downey Jr actually left food all over the set and every time they thought they found it all a scene would start and he was pulling out more food! lol. @@TravisViews First 7 episodes of Season 1 will be fine up to Thor 2, episode 15 leads up to Cap 2. Season 2 Episode 19 comes before Avengers 2, though you might wanna watch it afterwards just to keep some WOWs of the movie. Season 3 Episode 19 is last before Cap 3. After that you should be alright, AoS gets ever the lighter connected to the MCU proper. These days, it's canonicity is questionable - but it's definitely a great watch overall with fun ideas, character depth, and quite the cast.

The guard in the warehouse who gives Banner the pants is Harry Dean Stanford. He also played Molly Ringwald's character's dad in Pretty in Pink. ;)
The Galaga thing wasn't even supposed to be in there, RDJ ad libbed the line and they decided to add in that the guy was, actually, playing Galaga.

Don't forget to watch it or the AGENT CARTER ONE-SHOT which can be paired with "Captain America: The First Avenger" or be viewed as a coda to the "AGENT CARTER" series.
If you want to see "AGENT CARTER", the first 8-episode season is EXCEPTIONAL, occurs before the One-Shot and can be seen after "Avengers" as an interlude between phases.

of all the Marvel movies this one is my favorite because of all the one-liners. this one is so funny. "does mother knoweth you wear her drapes?" "he's adopted" the conversation between Loki and Tony at the end in the penthouse is great and the Hulk's beating Loki made me laugh myself silly and we were In the theater. I do like Ruffulo better as Hulk. I love that Robert Downey Jr actually left food all over the set and every time they thought they found it all a scene would start and he was pulling out more food! lol. I really love your reactions and I really wish I could watch Patreon. @@TravisViews First 7 episodes of Season 1 will be fine up to Thor 2, episode 15 leads up to Cap 2. Season 2 Episode 19 comes before Avengers 2, though you might wanna watch it afterwards just to keep some WOWs of the movie. Season 3 Episode 19 is last before Cap 3.
After that you should be alright, AoS gets ever the lighter connected to the MCU proper. These days, it's canonicity is questionable - but it's definitely a great watch overall with fun ideas, character depth, and quite the cast.
