Thor Ragnarok set him up to be a goof. That movie's tone was all over the place. "Let's destroy Asgard while we crack stupid jokes" Taika Whatiti doesn't give a shit about Thor so why should we? And this movie continues that trend. Making cancer jokes? Seriously? The worse thing to happen to Thor was Taika Whatiti. He's the biggest villain in the MCU.
I was an extra on this and Taika really didn't give a shit making this. He came out once for a run down and than fucked off. Apparently he spent most of the time in a king size bed with his partner and Tessa Thompson. Honestly it shows. It feels like the actors have a script but without the guidance of the director to make it funnier or natural thus it feels so plodding and predictable. Natalie Portman and Christian Bale were the only stand outs that felt like they were genuinely trying.
The look of the Marvel Films went downhill after Phase 1 ended and they left Paramount. It's like night and day when you watch the first two Iron Mans, Thor 1, Cap 1 and Incredible Hulk and compare them to anything afterwards.
I haven't been blown away by an MCU movie since the first Guardians of the Galaxy, that was almost a decade ago. I know Infinity War looked incredible, but you had unfortunate box office bombs like Alita Battle Angel which look comparable to Infinity War.
Alita Battle Angel bombed but it's miles better than Captain Marvel, which ends up making more than the film; you get the same story with Alita but she's likable and polite and super cool. And the doctor character was better than *ANY* of the male characters in Captain Marvel
I liked the first GOTG movie but looking back it's overrated as fuck. Disney doesn't hire people who are fans of Marvel comics, they hire agenda pushers.

The last MCU film that managed to handle drama and humour perfectly was No Way Humour and the sad thing is the other Thor films handled drama and humour better than Love and Thunder!

I thought the action scenes were better in Thor 2 as well. The action scenes here felt stale and meh, the only ones that I honestly liked were Thor fights the symbiote like creatures from Gorr in new Asgard, then his first encounter with Gorr and the trio vs Gorr in his Shadow Realm.
It’s like the MCU isn’t even trying anymore. You’d think with all this woman power that they’d make the movies better but they haven’t. Dr. Strange 2 was fun, No Way Home was good for nostalgia, but for the most part it's just not done with the same love and care and attention to detail. The money automatically comes in at this point so there's no need to put in the same exact effort.
I think these Marvel movies will get worse and worse. They'll still make money because they have a built-in audience that will watch no matter what. Just like pro wrestling, fans will keep watching but everyone else will run for their lives!

I rather would rewatch Multiverse of Madness again despite the plot being sort of a disjointed mess then sit through this one. Elizabeth Olsens performance was a complete highlight of the film. Christian Bale was disappointedly so underused here and while I did kind of Jane’s and Gorr’s stories. I did not care for the mostly comedic tone of Love & Thunder.
Russell Crowe was trying to do a Greek accent. Because Zeus is a Greek God. I guess we're so used to hearing Greek gods speaking in British accents but we have never heard them actually having a Greek accent.
I like Russell Crowe but Taikia Waititi and the shcmucks at Disney's Marvel don't know shit about Greek Mythology! And don't get me started on the post credit scene because apparently we got Hercules now and he ain't even a hunk!
Instead of love and Thunder (or as I like to call it "Lol and Blunder), WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN BLOOD AND THUNDER, a storyline in the comics set after Thor issue 460 and Infinity Crusade (the thirds part of the Infinity trilogy) where Thor goes crazy and gets an Asgardian mental disorder called "Warrior's Madness" . This would have been adapted had Endgame build up to it, where after the time skip instead of Thor being a slob, he become unhinged and snaps at his teammates for no reason which would play for laughs at first , but once we get into his own movie the rug is pull up and that Thor isn't mentally well.

Good rant Matt, I enjoyed the film although it had it's problems but it wasn't as good as Ragnarok. I liked Christian Bale as Gorr I thought he did a good job in the role and Gorr a better villain than Malekith in the 2nd film which he was such a forgettable villain. The screaming goats I thought were funny at first but then as the film went on they annoyed me and got old very fast. The soundtrack was pretty good. I respect your opinion on the film.
Honestly, I could've made a better movie than Taika. By his own admission, he phoned it in so he basically wasted $200 MILLION on a crap story that they knew some would just eat up. I knew Marvel was in trouble when they didn't give Black Widow a movie before Captain Marvel, but I know they should've given Marvel a break to regroup after Endgame (which should've been the end of Phase 4 in my opinion) to tell stories that let us get to know our new set of heroes again. They're driving it into the ground and it's really sad!

I was kinda done with Marvel as far back as the first Avengers ; they set Loxi up to be a complex, sympathetic villain in the first film, but he became a joke thanks to Joss Weedon's "sassy" writing. I was officially done with Marvel after Thor: The Dark World. People keep saying I'm missing out by not watching Guardians of the Galaxy, but in retrospect, I think I got out at just the right time.

Love and Thunder replaced great character and excellent story telling for really bad humor. The humor takes the viewer out of the scene because it is always so over the top and stupid. They shouldn't make anymore Thor films. Have him retire and train Gorr's daughter. The opening scene with Gorr, Gorr himself, Jane's arc and the Guns N Roses fight were the only good things. I chuckled four times during this whole shit show and out of the two post credit scenes, the one with Jane getting welcomed into Valhalla was the only good thing. When The Batman is the only good superhero film of this year, Marvel is truly losing their way. Marvel is dead. Bury it.

Instead of love and Thunder (or as I like to call it "Lol and Blunder), WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN BLOOD AND THUNDER, a storyline in the comics set after Thor issue 460 and Infinity Crusade (the thirds part of the Infinity trilogy) where Thor goes crazy and gets an Asgardian mental disorder called "Warrior's Madness" . This would have been adapted had Endgame build up to it, where after the time skip instead of Thor being a slob, he become unhinged and snaps at his teammates for no reason which would play for laughs at first , but once we get into his own movie the rug is pull up and that Thor isn't mentally well.

Good rant Matt, I enjoyed the film although it had it's problems but it wasn't as good as Ragnarok. I liked Christian Bale as Gorr I thought he did a good job in the role and Gorr a better villain than Malekith in the 2nd film which he was such a forgettable villain. The screaming goats I thought were funny at first but then as the film went on they annoyed me and got old very fast. The soundtrack was pretty good. I respect your opinion on the film.

Honestly, I could've made a better movie than Taika. By his own admission, he phoned it in so he basically wasted $200 MILLION on a crap story that they knew some would just eat up. I knew Marvel was in trouble when they didn't give Black Widow a movie before Captain Marvel, but I know they should've given Marvel a break to regroup after Endgame (which should've been the end of Phase 4 in my opinion) to tell stories that let us get to know our new set of heroes again. They're driving it into the ground and it's really sad!

I was kinda done with Marvel as far back as the first Avengers ; they set Loxi up to be a complex, sympathetic villain in the first film, but he became a joke thanks to Joss Weedon's "sassy" writing. I was officially done with Marvel after Thor: The Dark World. People keep saying I'm missing out by not watching Guardians of the Galaxy, but in retrospect, I think I got out at just the right time.

I still think Thor The Dark World is the worst one out of the Thor films. Thor is part of my top 5 MCU films and I'm not the biggest fan of MCU, so I think Thor is the best out of the Thor films.

Another baddass rant for another crappy MCU film brother at this point in time it really seems like weather Kevin Feige or Disney they don't respect the early Marvel films that helped build this universe at all IMHO.
Love and Thunder replaced great character and excellent story telling for really bad humor. The humor takes the viewer out of the scene because it is always so over the top and stupid. We disliked all of the same things. Just a terrible movie that should never have been made. Then I start to question just who is in charge that is green lighting these projects. Someone thought this was the way to go and honestly that scares me for the future because the message I am getting is they are no longer telling quality stories involving many of my favorite comic characters.
This movie was absolutely disgusting! What they did to Lady Sif was disrespectful, Thor was made into a Hulk Hogan himbo, Valkryie didn't get *ANYTHING* to do, the humor and too many jokes killed the flow of this film! They shouldn't make anymore Thor films. Have him retire and train Gorr's daughter. The opening scene with Gorr, Gorr himself, Jane's arc and the Guns N Roses fight were the only good things. I chuckled four times during this whole shit show and out of the two post credit scenes, the one with Jane getting welcomed into Valhalla was the only good thing. When The Batman is the only good superhero film of this year, Marvel is truly losing their way. Marvel is dead. Bury it.
