Raimi being involved made me curious but not excited unless they told him "Take this character, pick any villain you want, make sure it deals with the multiverse and it doesn't have to connect to any previous films or shows except the first film. Just go crazy with it". So what if it goes full horror? Kids will love it...and some might have nightmares. Take some risks. "The more you scare them, the more they like it" - Jack Nicholson. Sighs. The whole cinematic universe should have ended after Endgame. Enough already. I feel bad for my friend who really wants to see this but has to travel to Dubai today because the film got banned for a dumb reason in his country. Well, he is gonna be disappointed or maybe have fun despite the flaws, oh well. I guess Everything Everywhere All At Once is the better version, can't wait for that. Someone on Twitter told me that Doctor Strange is more relevant than Batman based on this film. First off, it is a a Doctor Strange film in name only. It is a Doctor Strange Scarlett Witch Marvel Team Up film. Batman didn't need Superman, Wonder Woman, Constantine, etc.

They don't want to have a strong white lead this is the MSheU now. Excellent review Matt. Yeah this film was a mediocre train-wreck. Underwhelming and honestly just stupid. Zero thought went into making this film and what really pisses me off is that Dr. Strange did nothing to warrant the name of this magical supreme being. Filmmakers are so set on lifting up female characters that the men suck ass and pretty much amount to absolutely nothing. Strange was raked over the coals and never took charge in his own movie.

This was the last straw for me. I haven't watched this movie in any official capacity but I've seen enough leaked footage to think "What the hell did I just watch ?". I must admit I didn't really like the 1st doctor strange that much, it left me disappointed. The MCU had really gone downhill after Civil War. Army of Darkness, The Quick And The Dead and Spider-Man 2 are three Raimi movies I really enjoy after Darkman. Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever made and Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies of all time. And I love Spider-Man (2002) as well despite some flaws. Spider-Man 3 still sucks D though. I will agree there. Sandman "accidentally" killed Uncle Ben? To quote iRobot: "I'm sorry I'm allergic to BS".
i enjoyed Spiderman 2, but my favorite Raimi film is Darkman. I also liked Darkman 2 (not a Raimi film but still good), thanks to Larry Drake's great villain. Not so much a fan of the Evil Dead although I do think they are much better movies than the crap he churns out now.
This was bad for me to. I was crying at the cinema. And I won't even give it credit for the note battle cause it was goofy AF and didnt fit the horror theme, just like the fricking star portals. Scott Pilgrim did it way batter because it matched the movie. I just saw it and I'm in the marginal thumbs down camp. The zombie Dr. Strange stuff along with the horror elements are pretty cool, but having Wanda be the villain is a mistake. Also, Benedict Wong is wasted in it. He might as well not be in the movie he's so inconsequential. Some cool bits does not a good movie make.
I liked it. The zombie doctor strange, the horror elements, and some of the bloody moments Rami brought saved the movie for me. And it being under 2 and half hours was a plus too.
I enjoyed it. THough I dont disagree this movie left a lot to be desired. Its not worth more then a bargain night at best. Lots of plot contravinces, plot armor and the pacing was batmessy.

Vision is dead Matt he died in Infinity War The Vision in WandaVision series wasn't real he was created by Wanda like her children. The military did create their own Vision from his corpse in the final WandaVision episode but he had no memories and little intelligence. Scarlet Witch or Wanda actually does turn cray or evil in the comics so that's accurate to the source material in the comic House of M.
No, at the end of WandaVision...Vision came back. White Vision had his memories returned to him in WandaVision's finale and then he flew away, watch it again.

The idea of self defeat in this movie was kinda on point. She met the object of her delusions and she saw the horror of what she had become. THough if she hadnt gathered of what she was doing was wrong from the start, even before this movie started, then the writing in this movie was terrible. Its too bad that wanda WOULDnt see that for herself. That point there is a crock and that she somehow expected these kids to accept her as she arrived and nearly killed their own mother as Dr. Strange predicted was.... a bit much. Someone with the skills she has and awareness she has should have been a bit more...realistic; no mother would want to do that to any child. She should have just wanted to at least stop by and visit them without going through all that. That would have been really cool.
In the comics, Quicksilver and Scarlett witch started out as villions, but turned to the avengers to start over as heros. Wanda has gone evil at times after being possessed by others. The MCU is trying to go in that direction, but they don't try to set it up in a way that makes sense.
Most people are saying the tone, story and characterizations are awful in MOM I saw a scene and I thought it was a joke like a parody of Marvel like Last Jedi was a parody of star wars. This rant however was just like Multiverse of Madness very messy and stupid that he ended up crapping on Lord of the rings lol. I like Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and Braindead as much as the next guy but saying it's his best work is ridiculous.

But the multiverse angle was wasted (I chuckled at the city covered in flowers I'm like great Woketopia), Doctor Strange spent most of the time running away, irritating cameos. They don't want to have a strong white lead this is the MSheU now. All the male characters have been replaced or beaten up by their female replacement Loki, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Shang chi, now Doctor Strange next will be Thor they ruined Reed they even ruined female characters like Wanda, Agent Carter and Captain marvel it was endless character assassination for comedic effect. When I saw Bruce Campbell I literally said screw you Raimi. They ruined everything. It was a joke the whole film they don't do stories anymore it's just a comedy of errors.

Dr. strage was missing in Action. People move on in life, even get over Dr. Strange. His ex was explicit about why she didnt think it would work... sort of. That relationship ended early in the first movie.
Excellent review Matt. Yeah this film was a mediocre train-wreck. Underwhelming and honestly just stupid. Zero thought went into making this film and what really pisses me off is that Dr. Strange did nothing to warrant the name of this magical supreme being. Filmmakers are so set on lifting up female characters that the men suck ass and pretty much amount to absolutely nothing. Strange was raked over the coals and never took charge in his own movie.

This was the last straw for me. I haven't watched this movie in any official capacity but I've seen enough leaked footage to think "What the hell did I just watch ?". I must admit I didn't really like the 1st doctor strange that much, it left me disappointed. The MCU had really gone downhill after Civil War. Spiderman: No Way Home was the last MCU film I paid to see. To hell with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to hell with Disney, I'm done! Of course, I'll tune in to see you tear them apart. Not even Sam Raimi could save this. This movie along with no way home reminded me why I haven't liked multiverse stories ever since turtles forever. 29:32 This sounds like a better plot and the perfect job for either Mephisto, Blackheart or Nightmare. I can't believe they actually acknowledged that terrible "what if" series as canon. Wasted a perfectly good Black Bolt design for the sake of GIRL POWER! They even had Anson Mount reprise his role from the mediocre inhumans tv show and everything. Also, where's namor? They just couldn't leave the fox x-men continuity in peace could they? Army of Darkness, The Quick And The Dead and Spider-Man 2 are three Raimi movies I really enjoy after Darkman. Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever made and Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies of all time. And I love Spider-Man (2002) as well despite some flaws. Spider-Man 3 still sucks D though. I will agree there. Sandman "accidentally" killed Uncle Ben? To quote iRobot: "I'm sorry I'm allergic to BS".
i enjoyed Spiderman 2, but my favorite Raimi film is Darkman. I also liked Darkman 2 (not a Raimi film but still good), thanks to Larry Drake's great villain. Not so much a fan of the Evil Dead although I do think they are much better movies than the crap he churns out now.

This was bad for me to. I was crying at the cinema. And I won't even give it credit for the note battle cause it was goofy AF and didnt fit the horror theme, just like the fricking star portals. Scott Pilgrim did it way batter because it matched the movie. Also I am pretty sure you haven't seen the second after credit scene where they immidiately made the third eye ( which look like sht btw) not a issue. Sorry for your suffering man.

I just saw it and I'm in the marginal thumbs down camp. The zombie Dr. Strange stuff along with the horror elements are pretty cool, but having Wanda be the villain is a mistake. Also, Benedict Wong is wasted in it. He might as well not be in the movie he's so inconsequential. Some cool bits does not a good movie make.
I liked it. The zombie doctor strange, the horror elements, and some of the bloody moments Rami brought saved the movie for me. And it being under 2 and half hours was a plus too.

Vision is dead Matt he died in Infinity War The Vision in WandaVision series wasn't real he was created by Wanda like her children. The military did create their own Vision from his corpse in the final WandaVision episode but he had no memories and little intelligence. Scarlet Witch or Wanda actually does turn cray or evil in the comics so that's accurate to the source material in the comic House of M.
No, at the end of WandaVision...Vision came back. White Vision had his memories returned to him in WandaVision's finale and then he flew away, watch it again.

The idea of self defeat in this movie was kinda on point. She met the object of her delusions and she saw the horror of what she had become. THough if she hadnt gathered of what she was doing was wrong from the start, even before this movie started, then the writing in this movie was terrible. Its too bad that wanda WOULDnt see that for herself. That point there is a crock and that she somehow expected these kids to accept her as she arrived and nearly killed their own mother as Dr. Strange predicted was.... a bit much. Someone with the skills she has and awareness she has should have been a bit more...realistic; no mother would want to do that to any child. She should have just wanted to at least stop by and visit them without going through all that. That would have been really cool.

In the comics, Quicksilver and Scarlett witch started out as villions, but turned to the avengers to start over as heros. Wanda has gone evil at times after being possessed by others. The MCU is trying to go in that direction, but they don't try to set it up in a way that makes sense.

First one is better . I did like Dr Strange 2 but story is sloppy it was entertaining. It could of been better.
Most people are saying the tone, story and characterizations are awful in MOM I saw a scene and I thought it was a joke like a parody of Marvel like Last Jedi was a parody of star wars. This rant however was just like Multiverse of Madness very messy and stupid that he ended up crapping on Lord of the rings lol. I like Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and Braindead as much as the next guy but saying it's his best work is ridiculous.
