Nice find! You took some great pics! Paired with the 7artisans lens is a nice idea. Those native Fuji lenses start a little higher for me for a cheap setup. I had an xpro1 for a while and never did get a native lens, though I probably should have...
That X-Pro 1 is on my camera bucket list lol. I agree; Fujifilm lenses are pretty costly. I've been thinking about just getting an adapter and using some vintage glass with my setups for Fuji
Hey Matt, Great review, nice camera. Always great to see some forgotten digitals get some love! Tech moves so quickly and these gems get shuffled to the back row. Understanding the limitations is part of the enjoyment of using them. Besides, if it breaks you are not out more than $200.00 or so, compared to a larger newer camera. :)
Thanks for your comment! I agree 100 percent. What's crazy is how cheap these old mid range/"protographer" grade cameras go fore on today's market. Most of the time, they have nearly the same features as their "pro" counterparts too!
Pick up the 16-50 3.5 kit lens. A great match for it, especially with it's ois. Sharpness in the center is phenomenal. Focusing speed super fast. Weighs nothing. And this is from a guy who has the 16mm 1.4, the 23mm 2.0, the Viltrox 85mm. Since I only had my X-M1 for a year before buying the T-2 body, now I'm refreshing my memory on the XM-1. It's macro setting is pretty cute, as it isn't needed on the later bodies. Naturally watching The Fuji Guys video on it is a MUST. I had to remember how to use focus peaking on legacy lenses like my Rollei 50mm C.Z. 1.8. And their detailing on the built in flash modes is outstanding. Have fun. Another thing nice about these early models is the CD that comes with to use the their Raw conversion software (to tiff). No need for other pay by the month software like Lightroom. (I have an old Imac with a 10.6.8 system that can't handle later raw from the T-2, but I do have stand alone Photoshop CS 4 and 6 I don't have to pay monthly for) so, get the Fuji software that comes with. It won't work on later bodies though.
Just wondering - what would You when You're in direct sunlight, want to maintain the frame, but refocus to another object? is manual focusing good enough, will You be able to see where the focus is on in such bright conditions? Does it have any additional ways to do it? This is quite crucial for the street photography where rangefinder cameras shine. Would be great if we could tap on a screen to refocus, but it's not a touchscreen unfortunatelly.
Thanks for your comment! I'd opt to manual focus with the XM1 more often than not, especially in harsh sun. The screen isn't the best with this old camera but I think it's passable all things considered. If I do use auto focus in those conditions, I'd maybe try to hit focus on my subject using a center weighted metering mode in autofocus single, then recompose to my liking after it's locked in. I hope I am making sense lol, that is a great question
Supposing this camera worked its way back up to 300 bucks lol! The camera market is crazy these days. It certainly is a great one to pair with your Xt-5!
Thanks buddy! I'm working my way back to using an old digicam very slowly (it's been too cold up here lol) and I may have a challenge for you in a few weeks (-:
Myself, I need the viewfinder. Even with poor focus peaking on the earlier models , it's easier with a viewfinder. The XE1 makes more sense for the same price, or close enough ! LarryMac
Hi! I recently bought one of those in mint condition but I noticed that i have some stuck/dead pixels on my sensor. Did you notice the same problem with yours?
Sorry to hear that. I've had this issue with a canon camera before and I was able to fix it by performing a "sensor clean" under my camera settings, and facing the camera sensor towards the ground when doing so. Here's my dumb question: does it show up when you upload the image to a computer?
That is disappointing :( Camera prices have gone very high around the world in the past year, and Fujifilm has especially gotten popular. I wish the camera can come down in price because it is a fantastic little shooter, but not for $300! Thanks for your comment and view!
I blame tik tok lol. Only halfway kidding; the camera market has been insane lately. In addition, "tik tok influencers" have been obsessed with fujifilm cameras for some reason lately, and now fujis are A. Expensive B. Sold out or C. All of the above 😫
Great review. My X-M1 is in the mail right now.

I've just picked up that kit lens. I love it so far! It's been living on my X e1!
I just bought on, same color, with two lenses for 450 bucks but the lenses alone cover the cost including a 27mm. Stoked!
How are ya liking it? Thats a clean lens; wouldn't mind grabbing one myself!

Love it
Just got a mint one for $300😭. Great buddy for my Xt-5 though.

Was there a setting to see the exposure live without having to half press the shutter release? I cant find the setting anywhere its driving me insane
That was a cool video 😊
Great job as always man 👏👏

@@MattsNotes that’s fair ⛈ look forward to it man 💪
Hi Matt, great vid, I'm considering to buy this camera. Is it focus peaking feature on this camera?
I appreciate your comment! There is focus peaking and even focus magnification on the Fuji!

Now thr price for this camera in my country is $300 just one year ago its $100
That is disappointing :(

Ur steps at the first of video just like minecraft
This keeps happening now that you mentioned it lol!
Great video, it's not about the camera but who is holding it. Too bad this exact camera costs $700 Canadian.
Yea it's a shame this camera skyrocketed in price, for literally no reason in my opinion lol
Seem to be going for around $350US without lens on ebay now, prob due to all these vids.
