I am surprised I can actually understand these skips, normally skips in games are so insane in their levels of exploiting code that things just kinda happen, instead of this level of understanding. The 3D models of the levels with the Lakitu planes was super cool and especially helpful in understanding everything.
The sequence from 5:18-5:42 is one of the greatest montages in a speedrunning youtube video I've ever seen. Excellent music choice and effects considering the hilarity of the discoveries.
It's a true crime Mario kart hasn't brought back the chain chomp as an item. People say it would be obsolete because of bullet bill but I just say make it a lower tier item, make chain chomp even more out of control and throw the user around a lot more. Chain chomp was my favorite Mario kart item and to see the bullet replace it is heartbreaking. Just nerf it by having players in 10th through 6th place get it, while people behind that like in last place get the bullet bill.
@@sirspookybones1118 a double dash mode would be sidelined. It wouldn’t be good at all Imo. I believe a sequel strictly with the mechanic would work a lot. Plus, it would be a great time to fix and improve from the flaws of Double Dash

It's Bout' time more than two SCs have been Discovered in MKDD. I've been itching to try some! Edit0: Yes I grew up with GCN Wii GBA DS Etc. Edit1: I've realized that I missed a potential Boot pun. A*boot*
This video just made me realize how similar some aspects of MKDD and MKWii are with DD having supposedly vertical road that you can phase through (I’m guessing what that was in the video) and Wii having horizontal walls with janky collision that sometimes you can also phase through. Either way, really nice video!
I never noticed that the Bullet Bill is a copy of the Chain Chomp, and now that you have pointed it out, I think they should replace the Bullet Bill with the Chain Chomp permanently.
Great vid! Comical, comprehensive, technical enough to understand but simple enough to not get lost, your personnality shines through with a top montage and a great voice! It's real good stuff!
Shortcuts in this game are what I’m most interested in and I’m so happy that I’ve been able to grind and accomplish almost all of them! Thanks for the amazing video showcasing it all :)
I loved the video! I'd say to keep it up with MKDD glitch content, but you managed to fit it all into this video :O and you explained it all really well along with your incredible video style keep doing what you're doing! no matter what you cover in your videos it always makes my day... especially if it's MKDD :)
You've got a talent for these Speedrunning documentaries. I've been watching them since your first Sunshine documentary and you have a humor to your writing that I think sets you apart from SummoningSalt and others who develop these types of documentaries. I enjoy watching most all the speedrun documentary creators, but I really look forward to seeing more coming from you!
Damn because of his new vid can we now call summoningsalt "averagetrey ripoff guy" to counter the ppl who called you "summoningsalt ripoff guy" like 4 years ago?
in addition to the info in this video being super interesting and well explained, the editing was so funny ! Your sound effects were so well timed and hilarous to hear, so good ! Some may say a more sofisticated form of humor is prefered, but sometimes just plain funny sounds are enough to make me burst out laughing and pause the vid because I don't want to miss the explanation lol.
The editing here is insane. I had to stop the video and collect myself after the "decimal precision" airhorns and the "fatty wheelie". Super informative, well paced and approachable. Incredible work.
I've been watching your videos for a while, but my god have you increased the production quality even more. Superb stuff my guy. Super entertaining and informative video.
Huh, so THAT'S why DD's Rainbow Road didn't have any game-breaking glitches in Summoning Salt's video. The bit value and finish completion forbid it. Interesting how Double Dash seemed to be better programmed than Mario Kart Wii.
When you consider most of MKWii’s size is every character times every kart option available to it times a copy with a stationary pose plus another copy with incomplete animations and another copy with the team-colored default karts, then yes, Wii is shoddier than DD.
You did a really good job with the ordering when explaining all of the clips. A clip before the next is usually relevant information for the next like why they're using the bullet bill kart in mushroom city, and then following up with the luigi circuit clip showing the bullet bill kart being used there again and explaining its viability is easier in that track. Good video! It was an enjoyable watch, thank you for the content.
got unreasonably excited at the 19:40 mark because a song started that actually was used in _spore_ (some of the music that you can use in adventures (from the galactic adventures dlc) was actually reused from other ea? games, including this one, and also the urbz sims in the city i recall??)
Haven't watched the video in its entirety yet but I find it really funny that the least glitchy/hardest to exploit Mario Kart is the one on the system notorious for having some supremely jank games (Sunshine and Melee being major examples).
i find it kinda crazy how its taken almost 20 years to finally break mkdd this hard. prob just gonna stick to non shortcut TT, but its still cool to see the game progressing like this.
I remember witnessing some of the games little glitches back when I was young and knew it was possible for the game to have secret shortcut glitches this was back in 2008 and it’s crazy that till now 2023 people are starting to find out more! I’m glad this game is getting the attention it deserves in the speed running side :D
its interesting because this always was my favorite MK i think the items, the boost mechanic and having two characters was so special in this game level design was also awesome but it was always kind of the underdog because it isnt as popular in speed runs and there are barely any wowable gamebreaking glitches that would make replaying this interesting, maybe this changes slowly now
11:40 huh... I guess it makes sense that your own chain chomp can run you over if you got in front of it, but that's not an interaction I ever expected to see, lol
2:44 am, me to myself: i should get some sleep, maybe find a song to listen to before bed to calm my mind. also me: *sees this and instantly clicks not caring about work in the morning or the possible repercussions to my sleep schedule* :)
Has there ever been a situation where a glitch that wasn't viable in current speedruns was so cool that they made a category just to use it (and said category actually got official runs)?
22:00 it should be clarified that the weight stat actually has no impact on bounciness. There's a Gamefaqs guide which goes into the detail of karts stats. The short answer is the Barrel train has really strong shock absorption while the bullet has very little. In most cases less bounce is stronger (less speed lost when hitting the ground), but in occasional situations having a bouncier kart can actually be stronger.
Again, @ 22:20 all karts actually have the same "Handling" in the mario kart wii sense of the word. The barrel train has an outside drift which is faster and more slippery, whereas the bullet blaster has a Mid line drift which is slightly slower but hugs corners tighter. The train also preserves forward speed a little better than the blaster (but the blaster has a higher top speed.)

the fact that this game only had about four shortcuts in the time that it took mario kart wii to be broken in 100 different ways is impressive to me
