    Mario Kart is a franchise that is well known for the crazy shortcuts that can be found throughout all of the games. But what would happen if there was a track where every single corner had a shortcut? Welcome to the TAS History of SNES Mario Circuit 2

    The ending of the video is so wholesome, i love that the community is not competing just to see who is better and who pulls the best time, but end up joining forces to achieve the unthinkable, and have a collaborative effort to get the absolute best and most optimized times on tracks.

      It's really cool that we are able to do that now, it's really allowed us to create some crazy TASes. The TAS on airship fortress that I showed a clip of when talking about that in the video had 4 different people work on it, and it's just really cool to be able to work with other people on something like that

    This video made me emotional I’m not going to lie. Joining the community in 2015 immediately after the revival of the TT scene and seeing it evolve into what it is today has been one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Thank you for all your efforts in the RTA and TASing communities the past several years, we wouldn’t be here without you.

    I only've been in this community for a few months and when I first found out it existed I thought it would be almost dead, because "who still plays Mario Kart 7 10 years after it released ?". But during these last months I've been amazed by how active this community actually was and by everything that has been happening since I'm there : rKD being so close to sub 1:34, Endo becoming PPChamp, Jack getting his first WR... and now this amazing "Summoning Salt level" video. All of this make really makes me wanna push hard on this game and motivates me to interact more with this community (because I've been quite silent for now that's why you probably don't recognize my name). Thank you for this video MKWilliam you did an amazing job. I don't know if a freaking paragraph was necessary to express that, but now I'm more motivated than ever to play MK7.

    I really liked this video, I’d love to see more of these history speedruns for other tracks. but i know you mainly did this because you set the record yourself.
    This is one of my favorite games and I used to Time Trial Maka Wuhu on my 2DS growing up, so this video hit close to home.

      @MKWilliam  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do plan to make more videos in this style don't worry :). I've had an impact on a lot of tracks in the game, so I made this mainly because I thought it would have a good story (although having set the record definitely helped me with knowledge about the category, which made it easier to make as a first video in this style). I'm glad you enjoyed it though :)

But ya amazing video👍👍⁉️

      @@marci0_cr We use the ghost files like in mkwii, although I believe it recently became possible to record the inputs actually in citra (There was a new super Mario bros 2 TAS made recently). I've wanted to look into making a cups TAS before, but I don't have any good way to deal with the RNG which has put me off doing it

    I subscribed in hopes of you covering the history of other TASes from a variety of games (hopefully mosty nintendo :p). Really gives you appreciation for how its not a button you just click and it makes the fastest path possible, that these aren't being "computed" so much as they are imagined and theorized then proven.
    Its funny I chose math to compare it to because we are taught the computation aspect of math but I think that really downplays the artistic side of math. Tasses is in fact one possible expression of that artistic aspect. You could conceive of a way of breaking this down into a math equation and each section a more novel way to solve it and the creativity involved.

    • @MKWilliam
      @MKWilliam  ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely view TASes as art. I will probably be focusing on mk7 for now since it's the game i'm most familiar with and there are a lot of stories that have never been told, but there are definitely stories from other game's which could be interesting to tell. Chances are any video I make will be within the mario kart franchise though

    Ive played every single mario kart game and i can say that mk7 (with mods) is the most fun with mkwii being a close second. What i really like doing is being in the air (glider) on mushroom gorge, closing the glider and using a mushroom right before landing on a bouncy mushroom, tricking and then getting launched into space.
    Also, amazing video. Your commentary is very fun to listen to, the TASes are very impressive and the whole thing is very well edited.

    I messed around with the frame-by-frame and savestate stuff in ZSNES back in the day before TAS was even a thing. Or, if it was, nobody had thought to document it. It was fun to figure out what was possible with the ability to essentially choose your inputs for each frame. Glad to see people are still enjoying messing around with emulators.

      Thanks for watching it! Yeah, I honestly don't even know if cf was inspired by your video or just happened to be looking through the checkpoint maps, but it is technically the oldest video of spaghetti being done, since other than cutting off less of the turn before the glider, it does everything else, just slower. It's honestly really cool how many of the things that have been done in both TASes and RTA runs in the last couple of years have been inspired by things players did years earlier
