Good video. Here’s what I do. Works flawlessly. After you flush your motor in the driveway when you get home take the fuel line out of the gas can and run all the fuel out of the line and carburetor. And then stick your fuel line in a 1 gallon can of Home Depot lawnmower fuel that has no ethanol. Then run the motor out of that fuel again and you are ready to put your motor away for a long time. My motors can sit for a year and they start up and idle every time.

Last time around, customer comes back angry cause his motor wont start after a tune-up although brand new fuel was used. I pulled the fuel line to the carb and squeezed the primer bulb a few times and lo and behold, bad murky fuel came out. The gentleman had flushed and refilled the tank allright but did not purge his fuel line which still carried 2 years-old stale fuel full of rubber debris. That line storesabout a cup of fuel which is plenty to mess things up. Stay safe and be merry !

Daniel Robert … It seems to be a common problem. Sometimes the customer just doesn’t listen to the advice given to them.

Any reason you can think of my 30hp evinrude coughs and bogs at high speed but runs perfect with the shroud off? I cant see why airflow could be restricted and nothing looks to be pinched while the shroud is on. Thanks!

worst_case_ontario_ … If your motor is choking itself with the cowling on, it’s from exhaust fumes leaking past your exhaust gasket. You will need to pull the power head to replace that gasket.

Yeah, he's probably running regular ethanol gas and that cheap grey fuel line will be a problem too. The ethanol/alcohol will eat the inner lining of the line and turn to goo, which in turn clog the carburetor jet. The ethanol absorbs moisture and the water will sit in the bottom of the gas tank. I just drained about a gallon of water out of my neighbors lawnmower until I could smell gas. I've tried to explain it to him but he says that he knows but pays me to get it going. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Joseph Beecher … I agree completely. These older motors are not made to run with ethanol fuels. If recreational fuel is not available then a fuel stabilizer is a must, especially if you store your equipment for more than a month.

I’ve been taking a 2.5 gal can of good fuel on my trips just in case I have bad fuel.

Rob Mclaughlin…Sounds like a good plan. I just make sure I use stabilized fuel and have had no issues in 20 yrs of boating. Thanks for watching and commenting.
