    There are so many talented natural actors, and there is Day-Lewis. He is in a league of his own. The man is not acting - he becomes the persona. It's actually amazing to watch him.

      And Justice For All, Scent of a Woman: yeah, they really missed the mark not even giving Pacino an honorable mention. Heath Ledger too. How about Tom Hanks? It's pretty intense to be able to go from Bachelor Party, Toy Story, Forest Gump and A League of Their Own to Saving Private Ryan and Castaway. This list sucks!

    Don't know whose definition of 'intense' they are using but Samuel L. Jackson is the first name that pops into my mind as well as the very much underrated Michael Shannon whose face alone screams intensity.

    Kirk Douglas brought passion to all his roles . His portrayal of Vincent Van Gogh moving from a fragile human being to an artistic genius to madmen has moments so intense they are hard to watch.

      Jack Palance. You don't get much more intense than Jack, even in terrible movies like the disco sword and sorcery flick Hawk the Slayer his performance still goes to 11.

    I don’t think Tilda Swinton is underrated. I think we are all aware how dope she is. (On a side note a teacher of mine made 2 or 3 movies with Swinton and says she is a lovely and delightful woman) Toni Collete is mad underrated. Hereditary is terrifying because of Her!

      Perhaps Tom Cruise is not in this list because he has been focusing more on action than drama films, but he is intense in ALL his films and DOES deserve to be in this list too.

      He’s not on the list because he’s also a psychopath. They just do t want to deal with all his baggage and bizarre opinions, and bad press he brings everytime he opens his mouth.     I think this list needs to expand this list to top 20 or 25. Too many left off, and a few rated to high. I would add Pacino, Oldman, Brando, Ledger, Samuel Jackson, Nicholson and Naomi Watts. Watts performance in Mulholland Drive rivals Theron's in Monster as two of the best performances I have seen on film.

      Jack Nicholson's is the only one that really made me believe joker was insane.
      Heaths was by far the most powerful but I picked up more of an explosive anarchist drive. Vs being actually clinically insane
      Heaths was methodical and sadistic. Nicholson's was random and strange

    When I watched "Monster", I realized Aileen Wuornos was played by Charlize Theron only when I read the final credits. I couldn't believe it!!! The characterization and the acting was just flawless. Great actress!

      Alot of people give Tom cruise shit for some reason but pretty much every single movie he Is in is both memorable and good.
      Some of the craziest shit you see in those movies stuntwise is all done by him too. The craziest being the spy movie with cameron diez. He literally wheelied a motorcycle down tight ass Venice streets with real Cameron on the back.

    The fact Robert De Niro can play an absolutely fabulous, cross-dressing pirate captain in "Stardust" and then just brush it off like a bit of lint on his lapel speaks volumes about his unimpeachable intensity, dedication, and method.

    How an actor of diminutive stature like Alfredo James Pacino can command such screen presence but was left out of this list is beyond me. The man exudes intensity.
    Also want to give a nod to Sir Anthony Hopkins though I imagine his understated style was perhaps not what you were shooting for with the understanding of intensity here?
    Lastly I do want to also give an honorable mention to Ken Watanbe, Samuel Jackson and Edward Norton.

    5:30 that is a popular misconception of that scene, I read. Actually, Leo cut his hand in rehearsals. It was so dramatic that they got the idea to stage it in the final take. He never cut his hand in the scene we saw, only in rehearsals.

    In my opinion Daniel Day-Lewis is the best actor of all times. His roles are always perfect in every detail. But as Daniel Day-Lewis is retired I think that the best actor still performing is Christoph Waltz. His performances in Inglorious Bastards and Django were amazing. I think he should be mentioned here at least at the second place
