Vachan Fassbender is not only one of the best actors of his generation but one of the best of all time imo. The fact that he’s not on this list is an absolute joke.
I think DiCaprio should have been at the top. His work in Django is easily one of the finest supporting roles in history, and his work in Wolf of Wall Street is one of the finest leads of all time. His name will be spoken in the same breath as Brando and DeNiro.
Candie in "Django" was one of the finest supporting roles in history? It's one of the cringiest villain performances I have ever seen, especially compared to these: - Vincent Price in practically every movie he played a villain in - Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Apocalypse Now" - Lee J. Cobb in "On the Waterfront" and "12 Angry Men" - Anthony Perkins in "Psycho" - Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange" - Louise Fletcher in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" - Laurence Olivier in "Marathon Man" - Michael Douglas in "Wall Street" - Joe Pesci in "Home Alone" and "GoodFellas" - Anthony Hopkins in "The Silence of the Lambs" - Ralph Fiennes in "Schindler's List" - Samuel L. Jackson in "Pulp Fiction" (if you consider Jules a villain) and even "Django Unchained" - Kevin Spacey in "Se7en" and "The Usual Suspects" - Brad Pitt in "Fight Club" - Daniel Day-Lewis in "Gangs of New York" and probably "There Will Be Blood" (if you consider Daniel Plainview a villain protagonist) - Meryl Streep in "Devil Wears Prada" - Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland" - Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight" Simply put; wearing a suit, yell, constantly hold a cigerette holder, and make a constipated face does not a great actor make. You should also at least have that villainous aura rather than looking like you belong in a porn movie. As for leads, there are tons of performances that have blown me away a lot more than anything Leo has done (except in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "The Revenant"): - Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Julius Caear", "On the Waterfront", "The Godfather", and "Last Tango in Paris" - Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire" - James Dean in "Rebel Without A Cause" - Anna Magnani in "The Fugitive Kind" - Al Pacino in "The Godfather" trilogy and "Scent of a Woman" - Robert de Niro in "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", and "Awakenings" - Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice" - Ben Kingsley in "Gandhi" - Nicolas Cage in "Leaving Las Vegas" - Daniel Day-Lewis in "My Left Foot", "Gangs of New York", "There Will Be Blood", and "Lincoln" - Jim Carrey in "Man on the Moon" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" - Edward Norton in "American History X" and "25th Hour" - Heath Ledger in "Brokeback Mountain" - Jamie Foxx in "Ray" - Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote" - Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland" - Adrien Brody in "The Pianist" - Tom Hanks in "Cast Away" There are several more I could mention, but I'm stopping there. And you believe Leo to be the next Brando? Yeah, right! Brando revolutionized modern film acting in an unprecedented way, and he never had his show stolen in addition to always mastering eye contact, gestures, posture, expressivity, and mannerism in addition to bringing a sense of naturalism. You always remembered him, even in minor roles such as in "Apocalypse Now" and "A Dry White Season". Leo hasn't even appeared in Empire and Premiere Magazine's lists for best characters and performances of all time, and they did include modern movies. The only reason people like Leo is because he looks good, but put him alongside actors like Samuel Jackson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Brad Pitt, and Christoph Waltz and you quickly forget about him
@@gennaroneefjes6248 1. It's an actual comedy performance rather than an unintentional comedy performance like Leo in "Django", and Pesci's comedic timing is perfect 2. Joe Pesci has a genuine development from looking calm and friendly (even if the latter is Harry pretending) to eventually becoming a violent psychopath like in "GoodFellas", and he manages to control his rants effortlessly. Leo tries way too hard to sound sophisticated, he becomes over-the-top in a way that feels less welcome, and his rant makes him sound like a soyboy since he has no villainous aura. 3. Pesci has amazing expressivity, both when he smiles, when he's calm, and when he's ranting. Leo either has a deadpan face or looks constipated. I also forgot to mention Thomas Ian Griffiths in "The Karate Kid part III", JK Simmons in "Whiplash", and Tim Curry in any villainous role
The finest actors of this generation (just my opinion) Leo Joaquin Tom Hardy RDJ Denzel Washington Johnny Depp Jake Heath Ledger Mathew McConaughey Christian Bale Eddie Redmayne
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of those actors who has been exceptional since a very young age. He did What’s Eating Gilbert Grape when his contemporaries were mainly doing commercial movies or teen sitcoms, didn’t stick onto the ‘romantic’ image after Titanic and definitely experimented a lot with his roles. He got his Oscar nomination when he was only 19 (7th youngest supporting actor nominee), wasn’t afraid to try something different and that has certainly paid off. His smart career choices is a main reason as to why he is one of the leading actors of his generation. Respect.
Michael Fassbender deserves a spot here. 12 Years A Slave, Shame, Steve Jobs, Prometheus (say what you will about the film, but he was truly great in it), not to mention essentially carrying the new X-MEN series on his shoulders. Also, even though it's just out of the 2010s, his work in Hunger is absolutely brilliant.

He had the most challenging roles in the past 2 decades that show how wide his acting range is Like the Master, Gladiator, You Were Never Really Here, Inherent Vice, Walk the Line, Her, etc.
Christian Bale is DEFINITELY number one! Come on, man. He won an oscar for The fighter, he was Batman, was in Out of the furnace, American Hustle, The Big Short, Ford vs Ferrari and should have won another Oscar for Vice.
Charles McDowell the iconic role of Batman is the main reason why Christian Bale became a Superstar and an A list actor in Hollywood and the same applies to Joaquin Phoenix who became so relevant because of an iconic character he played, unlike many Superstars who became big and highly relevant by creating their own iconic characters in movie history! So please stop exaggerating

Balin Some of us have and “The Master” still deserves the praise. Especially how Phoenix seems like he’s playing 3 or 4 different characters, all down to how the story movies.
And considering it’s a critique on Scientology, and that scene is very much what people are STILL doing today since Scientology is sucking in people.

His name will be spoken in the same breath as Brando and DeNiro.
exactly
Agreed. I think having Phoenix at the time was timing of the list.
Candie in "Django" was one of the finest supporting roles in history? It's one of the cringiest villain performances I have ever seen, especially compared to these:
- Vincent Price in practically every movie he played a villain in
- Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Apocalypse Now"
- Lee J. Cobb in "On the Waterfront" and "12 Angry Men"
- Anthony Perkins in "Psycho"
- Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange"
- Louise Fletcher in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
- Laurence Olivier in "Marathon Man"
- Michael Douglas in "Wall Street"
- Joe Pesci in "Home Alone" and "GoodFellas"
- Anthony Hopkins in "The Silence of the Lambs"
- Ralph Fiennes in "Schindler's List"
- Samuel L. Jackson in "Pulp Fiction" (if you consider Jules a villain) and even "Django Unchained"
- Kevin Spacey in "Se7en" and "The Usual Suspects"
- Brad Pitt in "Fight Club"
- Daniel Day-Lewis in "Gangs of New York" and probably "There Will Be Blood" (if you consider Daniel Plainview a villain protagonist)
- Meryl Streep in "Devil Wears Prada"
- Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland"
- Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight"
Simply put; wearing a suit, yell, constantly hold a cigerette holder, and make a constipated face does not a great actor make. You should also at least have that villainous aura rather than looking like you belong in a porn movie. As for leads, there are tons of performances that have blown me away a lot more than anything Leo has done (except in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "The Revenant"):
- Marlon Brando in "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Julius Caear", "On the Waterfront", "The Godfather", and "Last Tango in Paris"
- Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire"
- James Dean in "Rebel Without A Cause"
- Anna Magnani in "The Fugitive Kind"
- Al Pacino in "The Godfather" trilogy and "Scent of a Woman"
- Robert de Niro in "Taxi Driver", "Raging Bull", and "Awakenings"
- Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice"
- Ben Kingsley in "Gandhi"
- Nicolas Cage in "Leaving Las Vegas"
- Daniel Day-Lewis in "My Left Foot", "Gangs of New York", "There Will Be Blood", and "Lincoln"
- Jim Carrey in "Man on the Moon" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"
- Edward Norton in "American History X" and "25th Hour"
- Heath Ledger in "Brokeback Mountain"
- Jamie Foxx in "Ray"
- Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote"
- Forest Whitaker in "The Last King of Scotland"
- Adrien Brody in "The Pianist"
- Tom Hanks in "Cast Away"
There are several more I could mention, but I'm stopping there. The only reason people like Leo is because he looks good, but put him alongside actors like Samuel Jackson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Brad Pitt, and Christoph Waltz and you quickly forget about him
@@MorganKing95 how is Joe Pesci in home alone better than Leo in Django?
@@gennaroneefjes6248
1. It's an actual comedy performance rather than an unintentional comedy performance like Leo in "Django", and Pesci's comedic timing is perfect

Respect.

Glad that mainstream audiences finally started appreciating Joaquin Phoenix as an actor now, pity they missed out most of his top tier performances before Joker. He had the most challenging roles in the past 2 decades that show how wide his acting range is

@@ClassicLegend-iy3su Are you kidding??
Christian Bale became an A list actor in 2000, when he had an incredible performance in American Psycho. Also he played the protagonist in Prestige in 2006, which was also a big sucess. The TDK- movies were mostly after that.
Joaquin Phoenix was even more sucessful. He had 3 Oscar nominations before Joker: 2001 with Gladiator, 2006 with Walk the Line and 2013 with the Master. At the Golden Golbes he was also nominated for Her and Inherent Vice.
That is 6 Golden Globe nominations (2 wins) and 4 Oscar nominations. That is incredible. That guy is a genius in every movie he is in. Just because most of his movies weren't blockbusters or incredible sucessful at the box office, doesn't mean he just became an A lister with Joker. He became an A lister with Gladiator...

Didn't even mention Bryan Cranston. The man who not only became the front face of Breaking Bad, won an emmy every season it premiered. And his little role in the 2014 Godzilla scene, I deserve Answers, was phenomenonal. He only takes 1-3 takes to perfect anything. His improv skills speak for itself.
That’s fair but if you want to go down the tv route Cillian Murphy deserved to be here just as much and he’s had a much better record in film over that period too
Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler has to be one of the greatest performances by an actor who didn't get any award. Heck it's a crime that he didn't even get nominated. IMHO he did an equally good job as Joaquin phoenix did in joker.
Why is Christian Blae o lying number 5 he should have been at least number 3

Number one is Leo, two is Jake Gylenhaal and three is Tom Hardy.
Lol no way are tom hardy and jake higher than Christian Bale either it be acting range or the box office success
Walter Sobchak bale is incredible, you’re right.
If I was making a film and I wanted the best performance, I would pick Jake and Tom over Hugh. That’s my opinion only.
I’m still a fan of Hugh and have enjoyed many of his films. Plus, Hugh is an Aussie, like me
@@sauravsharma8152 popularity success since jake play in MCU
@@mann536 and Christian Bale was Batman and recently ford v ferrari with 225$ worldwide. Bale is still a bigger star. And now he is also going to be in MCU too
I’ve seen every single one of Joaquin’s movies and I’ve never seen him give a bad performance ever
Same for Christian Bale
I was waiting for Keanu Reeves and Johny Depp.
Yeah me too, and tom cruise as well
Johhny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Tom Cruise, Hugh Jacksman
Tbh Keanu basically only plays one role
In my opinion Joker was a Masterpiece , and Joaquin Phoenix gave absolutely amazing and incredible perfomance and definetly deserves to be among top 3, but c'mon seriously Leo is The Goat
Agreed.
Not really, Leo has the best group of high profile roles this decade, but he can't compete in acting chops with guys like Joaquin Phoenix, DDL or Gary Oldman. Even less known guys like Edward Norton or Jeffrey Wright are superior.
Robert Downey Jr. too, and Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise too. Don't be fooled by the blockbuster crap they have starred in, check their best serious roles and you will see they have serious chops too.
Agreed
If they are including male and female I hope Amy Adams or Emily blunt makes the list
Amy it's there 4, but not Emily
HHC HHC dang it
I was hoping for Emily Blunt but aww
Meryl Streep should be here! Still one of our greatest living actors like Leo & DDL.
Where is Eddie Redmayne?!
Emma Watson?!
Domhnall Gleeson?!
Samuel L. Jackson?!
Emily Blunt?!
Charlize Theron?!
Nicole Kidman?!
Anne Hathaway?!
Colin Firth?!
Renee Zelweger?!
Fantastic Beasts charlize theron deserved at least an honorable mention
Merly isn't on there? Wow I thought she would be number 1.
With the exception of Redmayne, Firth, and Zelweger none of the others have done their best work in this decade.
@@DonVal86 Well, Anne Hathaway most certainly did. She's even won an Academy Award for Les Mis.
Joaquin Phoenix was underappreciated. But Joker role helped him get the recognition he deserves as a respectful actor. Even Daniel Day Lewis called him a remarkable actor. And Leo DiCaprio called him "The Great Joaquin Phoenix"
But somehow some people here are salty about it because their fav isn't no.1 smh grow up it's just a list.
1:- Joaquin Phoenix
2:- Jake Gyllenhaal
3:- Christian Bale
4-10:- Rest
